Assalaam alaikom wa rahmat'Allah everyone!

I have a question that I've been thinking about for a few days now... I saw a documentary about organ transplants on tv a few days ago, and I'd like to know what islam says about it. Is it allowed to accept a transplant? To donate organs when you're dead? The reason I'm asking is because I converted to islam a year and a half ago, alhamdulillah, and a few years before that I signed up to be an organ donor in case anything should happen to me. Should I resign? I would appreciate it so much if someone could give an in depth explanation to why/why not organ donations/transplants are allowed.

Barakallahufeekom!
