:sl:,

you must have visited the markets many times. you must have seen people with physical disability, poor and needy ones.

did you thank Allah for His blessings on you?

the shopowners sit in their shops daily for more than 12 hrs. no holiday, no vacation, no funtime.

did you thank Allah that He gave you so much?

Subhanallah walhumdulillaah wa laailaaha illallaah wallaahu akbar.

Why would he choose to give us His blessings rather than those that came out disabled, ugly, poor or needy?

In Islam, we are taught to look down never up, i.e. don't search for who is better than you because you will always find someone(you will never be the best), but try and look for who is less fortunate than you and you will always find someone, net result everyone will have to be thankful.

If you were not to see those examples of less fortunate people in the society, you won't recognize certain blessings that you take for granted.

What about the starving Africans that have no food or water, infected with diseases, diarrhoea and are dying on a daily basis. Who could be any less fortunate than them? You couldn't get any worse surely?

We created these problems in the first place if you look at history. It is our responsibility to take care of those in less fortunate than we are. That is why Muslims pay Zakat. To help poor people.

People only care about themselves. They honestly do not care about those less fortunate than us, if they did, we not have people starving and dying of diseases that can be treated.

Indeed we should thank Allah Ta'aala as its a reminder as to how much He has given us.

Exactly!!

There is a saying of the prophet muhammad(pbuh) that if all the people of the world payed zakat(charity as prescribed in Islam) there will be non left starving on the face of this earth. We will have to answer before ALLAH(swt) for those people.
Now as you can see poor and destitute people, there are also extremely filthy rich people who do all kinds of strange things with their money, some who burn it for entertainment, some who has given his wealth to his dog wife/husband.
I could argue that at some point in time those poor and destitute were not like that.
One example in Islamic history (I 'm sure there are others in non-Islamic history) During the reign of caliph Umar(r.a.) there was excess in the zakat money/food because there was absolutely nobody left poor that they gave it away to the birds to eat.
