View Full Version : Why do I feel like I have no rights to be praying, or saying Surrahs?

I'm not a faithful muslim. Nor am I willing to change my opinion on life.. or my views. I'm a sinner, but theres worser out there. I feel so stupid, God just asks me to pray to him 5 times a day... I can't even do that. I know, I choose what I do. I dont know. I feel like God doesnt want me. God doesnt accept me. God simply will throw me in hell. Sometimes I doubt his existance, but at the end of the day... I still believe in him. Whenever I say a surrah in my head, my mind just says "Who are you to be saying a surrah" I've been getting bad luck these days... like my mom got laid off. She hasent had a job for 3 months. And, I believe its because of me. No matter how much I pray, nothing changes.

What do I do? :hiding:

Stop surrendering yourself to the shaytaan?

Have you ever felt your Imaan go really high sister? Think why did it go high? Think what did you do to make that change happen within yourself?

Everyone is a sinner. Show me one person out there who has never committed a sin. We are all sinners sister, but what distinguishes the right from wrong is the ones who do sin, enjoy it and carry it on, and the ones who do the sin, feel shame, and then repent.

Start doing taubah often, sister.

Recite this as much as you can during the day:

Astaghfirullaha rabbi min kulli dhambin wa atoobu ilayh.
"I seek forgiveness from my Lord for every sin and to Him I turn (in repentance)."

or

(I seek the forgiveness of Allah the Mighty, Whom there is none worthy except Him, the Living, The Eternal, and I repent unto Him)

Ukhtee, do you want to change? are you willing to change?
because if you don't, then you cant expect to anything positive until and unless you put it the change. :)

and also, it sounds as if you're going though wiswaas http://www.islamicboard.com/prayer/5...siwas-ect.html

I think the shayatin try hard to opress the truly powerful muslims, ask Allah to give you refuge and accept that Islam is the perfect truth, it equates the old addage of what you put in you get out, except what you get out is so much more than you put in, and also what you get out is, out of hellfire. So put your trust in Allah and ignore the evil whisperings telling you not to pray, All in existence is to worship Allah, start Namaz, then dua then fast a day and see how you feel, may Allah guide you and protect you from the lies of shayatin, Ameen.

He created you, so He can accept you. You just have to take the first step and He will take multiple steps towards you (as stated in a hadeeth).

Hasn't He already done so much as to make you a Muslim and bring you to an Islamic forum and so we can show you the way that will bring you closer to Him?

We all go through wiswaas one time or another. In surah An-Nas we seek refuge in Allah to protect us from "the evil of the whisperer who retreats", which means if we remember Allah, shaytan will retreat/ go away.

nah sis, don't think like that. if you feel guilty for a sin you've committed, don't sit around and mope and feel hopeless, do something about it; convert those tears into tawbah. :(
don't let shaytaan get the better of you. you could do so much positives but feeling guilty and not doing anything productive isn't going to help. your just stopping yourself from doing good and benefiting yourself and possibly others too! dont stop sis, keep heading upwards...:)

Yeah your right, actually I was feeling so down that I was googleing an islamicfourm for some sort of reason to why i think like this.
i dont know. it's just that my mom is catholic so shes not much of support. although i live in a muslim country ( UAE ) it's not much of a booster when theres no one around me praying or whatever. my mom is actually againest me reading the quran, apparently "you live under my house, i support you and i raise you... why do you have to follow your dads religion" .. i lock my door sometimes but she gets really suspicious that i'm doing something bad... cuz i refuse to answer her while im reading the quran and she thinks im doing something. i explained to her, but she doesnt really take me seriously.
if i live with my dad (whos in america) well, thats really nothing. i profit more by being in UAE because im surrounded by muslims..

ofcourse i read all the posts...
i will write down all the surrah's and try to remember them.

this is really confusing.
are you saying the devil is taking over my mind? thats really creepy.
i got an image in my head that some red monster is like in my brain telling me im going to hell :hiding:

you should know that even some Muslim parents stop their kids from practicing, may allah guide us and them...so know that your not alone there :)

i don't live in a Muslim country, but i know that if the environment around me is bad, i have to do everything in my power to take the initiate and make a life for myself in this dead and dull place! you dont need a lot of people around you to do some acts of worship *although it would be very helpful*.

hmm try to memorize the quran as much as you can so that when you want to recite it, you can do it anywhere without having people stop you.
invite her, yes invite her to recite quran with you..heck even read quan to her :D try recite the quran when she isnt around as to not cause trouble between the both of you.

do you have friends or go to school? maybe you can get together with them in those times and recite some quran together or do other acts of worship?

my mom is actually againest me reading the quran, apparently "you live under my house, i support you and i raise you... why do you have to follow your dads religion" ..
just take it all in good stride she your mother at the end of the day. even if she insults you and says all them bad things, just be patient and treat her as best as you can in return and maybe even pray for her guidance. i dont know about you, but in a way i kinda like when peope frown upon me for tryong to practise...i dunno it just makes me love it more lol :D

as long as she isn't stopping you from doing whats obligatory i.e your prayers and/or commanding you to commit any haram actions, then I advise you to listen to her, even if it means not reciting the quran when you want.

i lock my door sometimes but she gets really suspicious that i'm doing something bad...
unlock it then :p

cuz i refuse to answer her while im reading the quran and she thinks im doing something. i explained to her, but she doesnt really take me seriously.
as i said, just take it in good stride :statisfie but do listen to her :p

this is really confusing.

dunno about taking over your mind, but the sahbis themselves (radhiallahu anhum) used to experience the same thing...i posted the wrong link before :-[ so you missed out on what i meant...but here is somethign to clarify, inshallah.

A man is experiencing waswaas (insinuating whispers) from the Shaytaan having to do with Allaah, and he is very afraid of that.

Answer :
Praise be to Allaah.
The questioner has mentioned this problem and is afraid of its consequences. I say to him, Rejoice, for its consequences cannot be anything but good. By means of this waswaas, the Shaytaan tries to gain control over the believers and shake the sound belief in their hearts, and make them suffer psychological
and intellectual anxiety that will affect the purity of their faith and their life, if they are believers.

This is not the first or the last time that the believers are exposed to this. It will continue so long as there is any believer in this world. The Sahaabah (may Allaah be pleased with them) also faced this problem. It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “Some of the companions of the Messenger of Allaah(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and said to him, ‘We find in ourselves thoughts that are too terrible to speak of.’ He said, ‘Are you really suffering from that?’ They said, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘That is a clear sign of faith.’” (Narrated by Muslim).

It was narrated in al-Saheehayn, also from Abu Hurayrah, that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “The Shaytaan comes to one of you and says, ‘Who created such and such? Who created such and such?’ until he says, ‘Who created your Lord?!’ If that happens to any of you, let him seek refuge with Allaah and put a stop to these thoughts.”
It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with them both) that a man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and said, “I think thoughts to myself, which I would rather be burnt to a cinder than speak of them.” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “Praise be to Allaah, Who has reduced all his [the Shaytaan’s] plots to mere whispers.” (Narrated by Abu Dawood).

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said in Kitaab al-Eemaan: “The believer may suffer from the whispers of the Shaytaan insinuating thoughts of kufr, which may make him feel distressed. The Sahaabah said, ‘O Messenger of Allaah, some of us think thoughts which we would rather fall from heaven to earth than speak of them.’ He said, ‘That is a clear sign of faith.’ According to one report, ‘… thoughts which are too terrible to speak of.’ He said, ‘Praise be to Allaah, Who has reduced all his [the Shaytaan’s] plots to mere whispers,’ meaning that the fact that these whispers come, but they are so greatly disliked, and they are pushed away from the heart, is a clear sign of faith. This is like the mujaahid to whom the enemy comes, but he resists him until he overwhelms him, and this is a mighty jihaad… Hence the seekers of knowledge and devoted worshippers experience waswaas and doubts which others do not face, because they (the others) are not following the way prescribed by Allaah, rather they are following their own whims and desires and neglecting to remember their Lord. This is what the Shaytaan wants, in contrast to those who are striving to draw closer to their Lord by seeking knowledge and worshipping Him. He is their enemy and seeks to prevent them from drawing closer to Allaah.” (p. 147 of the Indian edition)
I say to this questioner, if you are faced with this waswaas from the Shaytaan, then fight it and resist it. Know that it can never harm you when you fulfil the duty of fighting and resisting it, and you refuse to be controlled by it. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “Allaah will forgive my ummah for any insinuating whispers that may cross their minds, so long as they do not act upon it or speak of it.” (Agreed upon).
If it is said to you, Do you believe the insinuating whispers you experience? Do you think that they are true? Do you really think that Allaah is like what this waswaas says? You would say, “It is not right for us to speak of this. Glory be to You (O Allaah)! This is a great lie” [al-Noor 24:16 – interpretation of the meaning]. You would denounce that in your heart and with your tongue, and be the one who objects to it the most, for it is only whispers and thoughts that cross your mind. It is a trap set by the Shaytaan, who flows through the son of Adam like blood flows, to make you doomed and to confuse you about your religion.

Hence you will find that the Shaytan does not cast doubts or suspicions into your heart about trivial matters. For example, you may hear of the existence of great cities filled with people and buildings in the east and the west, but it would never cross your mind some day to doubt that they exist or to criticize them and say that they are in ruins and unfit for habitation, or that they are uninhabited, and so on. The Shaytaan has nothing to gain by making people doubt about these cities. But he does have a lot to gain by corrupting the believer’s faith, so he strives with his cavalry and his infantry to extinguish the light of knowledge and guidance in his heart and to make him fall into the darkness of doubt and confusion. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) has told us of the appropriate remedy for that, which is to seek refuge with Allaah and put a stop to it. If a person puts a stop to that and continues to worship Allaah, seeking and hoping for (the reward) which is with Allaah, that will stop by Allaah’s leave. So turn away from all the thoughts of this kind that cross your mind. You are worshipping Allaah, calling upon Him and glorifying Him, and if you were to hear anyone ascribing to Allaah the things that are whispered to you (waswaas), you would probably kill him if you could. So the things that are whispered to you are neither real nor true, they are merely imagination and whispers which have no basis.

Our advice may be summed up as follows:
1. Seek refuge with Allaah and give up these thoughts completely, as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) commanded.

2. Remember Allaah and control yourself and do not continue to think of these whispers.

3. Occupy yourself with worship and doing good deeds, in obedience to the command of Allaah and seeking to please Him. When you devote yourself completely and seriously to worship, you will forget about these whispers, in sha Allaah.

4. Frequently seek refuge with Allaah and make du’aa’ to free you from these whispers.
I ask Allaah to keep you safe and sound, and protect you from all evils,

Sister memomadness69, you need to keep your faith strong and make sure that the Shaytaan doesnt have this strong control over you. Remember Sister, What Allah does, Allah does for the best. Listen to T.I.A's advice its very good :)
