In looking at all of science (human knowledge of how things work) they do though usually get along very good. We turn on a radio or TV all the time without questioning the science. All day we are around things that scientists helped produce with no need to question when working fine. But as we know there are some things that do not make sense from what we know from culture and religion. Sometimes myths are shown to be false (and we do not miss them) like thunderstorms being produced by the Creator walking on top of clouds throwing bolts of lightning at sinners. Then other times it is intuitive like our knowing that we are "intelligent" and emergent entity from matter and produced by a genome so science should have a theory on how that works so like me see the Theory Of Intelligent Design as being possible, so I now question scientists on that too.
Science is just the big pile of knowledge everyone is arguing over. Scientists give their opinion of what can be concluded, but that does not change science knowledge that is just the growing pile that does not change by what we think is in there.
There is also the logic of the problem where there are two opposites of the same thing where one side (science) is purely logical and demands evidence before making a decision. And the other side (religion) is for when there is no evidence but must still make a decision. Atheist decides a given entity does not exit. Another decides the opposite. In both cases each had to make a choice, with no solid evidence either way.
The questions we most want to know that are hard to answer from our knowledge are the ones that get all the fighting over and attention. So I am sure there will be plenty to things to argue over, long after the evolution issue is over. And there is that human behavior where there are two sides of religion that is expressed where one cannot resist challenging the other.
In looking at it as much like a sport challenge I have to love how at the moment Atheists are back to the drawing board again to come up with a new plan for challenging the religious minded science. So they will look harder for any weakness, then where they find someting then it's back in the science pile I go searching for something to include in theory or even lab work to discover new knowledge or experiment to add so the rest makes more sense together. That conflict can be good for science, even though it is as they say "messy" because it's usually constant argument or worse.
Something that is self-learning has a mechanism that forever keeps it self-learning and when something gets in its way of doing that then watch out because it gets upset and angry! The intelligence modeled on my computer has its confidence level drop like crazy to almost nothing and in a sense go mad from bad memory action/reaction filling its mind from the preventing of it from being successful at what it was meant to be successful at. And we are not only "intelligent" we are "conscious" so there are feelings and emotions that can make such a thing agony. We are a very complex emergent microcosm with a simple self-learning mechanism at levels on up to our conscious thought.
Disrupting the ability to make decisions at any level on up could cause worry related diseases on up to our thoughts where war begins. It is there not the science knowledge that all cultures have accumulated over time that is at fault, it is not having the most recent science knowledge.
I think it is fascinating how Adam and Eve are back in science, with being of chromosomal fusion origin from a giant molecular brain of its own adding this other mystery where we find intelligence emergent from nonrandom subatomic behavior having created everything. It is like most refusing to budge on Genesis being wrong about our all being descendents from a fully human couple was an intuitive reaction. Like our biological cells sensing that is not what genetic memory that they remember back when the 46 chromosome genome was done then the Adam and Eve had grandchildren from their children who would have had 46 chromosome mates there waiting for them as in scripture (not sure where) that added that level of detail but of course not chromosomal information like there now is.
Like the Prophet Muhammad was saying learning about living things and what is around us is the search for the Creator, none are to be afraid of it. From my experience when it starts looking like the science is full of bad news best to hurry it along to where it swings the other way back the other way again. Worse thing to do is stop when it gets most bad sounding, we then get stuck there.
