Today there were heavy winds with rain in Makkah after Asr. We were sweating at Jumua. The climate suddenly changed at Asr time. Hope it's calm now, inshaAllah.

Btw, Ramadhan Mubarak to All! *I'm off for Isha & Taraweh*

Mishary Rashid al-Efasy to lead Taraweeh this Ramadan in California!
Rough Translation:
Sheikh Mishary Rashid Al-Afasy announced his apology in that he’ll be unable to lead salat-tu-taraweeh this year at the grand state mosque (in Kuwait). Instead, due to a commitment he made Sheikh Mishary Rashid Al-Afasy will be leading salat-tu-taraweeh and qiyam at the Islamic center in Irvine, California, U.S.A., which he visited in 2007 as part of an acting delegation on behalf of Kuwait.
Sheikh Mishary Rashid Al-Afasy had lead salat-tu-taraweeh at the grand state mosque for the last 10 nights of Ramadan for the past 10 consecutive years (1999-2008).
During his 2007 trip, Sheikh Mishary Rashid Al-Afasy gave lectures and attended religious meetings. Likewise he visited many studies in Hollywood that specialized in visual photography and output. Also, he gained excellent experience in the field of television. Lastly, during his trip, he received an invitation to recite at the U.S. Congress.

Muslims urged to compete in good deeds
Arab News

MAKKAH: Sheikh Osama Khayyat, an imam of the Grand Mosque in Makkah, on Friday called upon Muslims to compete with one another in righteous deeds in order to win the pleasure and reward of God during the holy month of Ramadan that begins on Saturday (today).

Delivering the Friday sermon, the imam also urged Muslims to work for world peace, stop bloodshed, violence and injustice.

“Ramadan is a great opportunity for Muslims to change their behavior and correct their understanding of Shariah’s objectives,” he told the crowd. Khayyat also advised Muslims to learn the message and teachings of the Qur’an.

“The Holy Qur’an was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as a guidance and blessing for humanity,” the imam said, urging the faithful to work hard to win the blessings of God during the fasting month.

“The beginning of Ramadan is mercy, its middle is forgiveness and its end is escape from hell,” the imam said while explaining a Hadith of the Prophet.

He added: “Those who fast should not only abstain from food and drinks but also from bad words and deeds. Ramadan is a high season for goodness.”

At the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, Sheikh Hussein Al-Asheikh delivered the Friday sermon that echoed what the imam said in Makkah: Ramadan offers a good opportunity for Muslims to compete with one another in good deeds.

“During this holy month, Muslims should think how to improve their situation,” he said. “God’s curse will be on those people who do not try to win His pardon during Ramadan and they will be sent to hell.”

Al-Asheikh called upon the owners of Arab satellite television channels to honor the sanctity of Ramadan and should not air any provocative program that goes against its spirit and message.

“Is there any big crime other than challenging God and working contrary to the teachings of His Prophet?” the imam asked. “Those who telecast indecent programs and meaningless serials in order to engage Muslims in valueless amusement should seek God’s pardon.”

I would like to remind you all where you got the first news about Sa'd Al Ghamidi from :P moi <-- about a month ago lol.. sorry just had to get that out there.

Also Sheikh Maher Almuaiqly was great today, he got the difficult part of Surah Albaqarah and his recitation and du3aa2 were awesome. Sheikh Shuraim is at his best during tahajjud.. looking forward to that already :D

^yup we can look forward to his tahajjud. this was one of shuraim's plainest recitations, i was kinda disappointed but it got better in the end rakats possible due to altered sound effects, it sounded cool anyway. but i was satisfied that this was the first half of the juz 2, something he has been reciting 'beyond everything' for the last few years in tahajjud. he will make up for it then inshAllah.

:hmm: lets not expect everything from last year. The pressure is always in the begining. Inshallah a few days and it will be great as ever. The Sheikhs have a great responsibility, imagine one of us leading. Get the shivers? Exactly. Think of yourself reciting to that many people live:skeleton:

Insha'Allah Fajr will be great:shade:.

zAk, i really don't know who will lead with Sheikh Sa'd Ghamidi and who will do the witr salaah. We just have to wait for tonight... emmm.. What time is Madeenah Isha:?

and here, freshly typed out :D , is Sheikh Maahir's dua from witr salaah last night... please let me know if there are any errors:

AssalaM O alikum wa rahmatul Lahi wa Barakatuhu

AlhumdolILLAH for blessing us with ramadan , Barak Allah lakum fi shahr ramadan.

I just had to come on to say sheikh shuraim did an awsome job on his first night n sheuikh mahir just absolutely added to the beauty of the night

Shekh shuraim did his most awsome tone ever , reminded me of the old days ,,, just ab****ely amazing , i was driving back from praying at salah bu khatir's mosque heer in sharjah n listening to shuraim live n i cant explain how beautiful it was, Personally no one evem comes close to sheikh shuraim may Allah protect him n bless his with good health n imaan so he can lead us like this and may Allah bless us all with the oppurtunity to pray taraweeh in the haramain. He is the best ever, in my opinion , shurain is shuraim ... dont get no better ..

Sheikh Mahir's recitation n duaa was just amazing , He did his best on his first night , he really give it his all , and sheikh budair's night was awsome in madinah as well,

It was a very beautiful surprise to see Saad al ghamdi leading in Masjid al nabawi, may Allah bless him , may Allah reward n bless everone who made it possible for him , May Allah protect and bless n guide the Khadim of haraim al shareefian King Abdullah and whoever was involved in making this happen and Allah praise and thanks are due to Allah , Allah blessed sheikh ghamdi with this oppurtunity , so we thank him as well and tank those who were involved , as the one who does not thank the people does not thank Allah . Sheikh ghamdi truly deserved it , a beautiful addition to the haram an madani.

May Allah protect the land of the haramain and reward the responsible people with goodness for all that the have done and are doing and may Allah protect all the scholars , the students of knowldge , the imams nkhateebs of the haraim and the teachers of the haramain .

Assalam O Alikum

Just adding to the above, the Tawaf and Sa'ee (walking between Safa & Marwa) does not stop during the Taraweeh and Tahajjud prayers. Tawaf is only stopped during the Fardh prayers, so you may see people performing the Tawaf in the video.

Beautiful recitations going on by everyone , may Allah reward them all n protect the.

Good news for people of UAE
This year we have lots of guests from all over the world in ajman to lead the prayers in taraweeh , some big names AlhumdolILLAH n the word is that sheikh nasir al qatami has been given a mosque permanently in ajman but i am yet to confirm it , i realy hope its true.

Here is the list

SHEIKH MUHAMMAD AYOUB ,

Sheikh Yasir al falkawi ,

sheikh khalifa al tunaiji ,

sheikh FARIS ABBAD

Sheikh Muhamad jibreel
will all lead in ajman in ramadan...

Sheikh muhammad ayoub from 1st - 5th ramadan

Sheikh yasir al falakawi from kuwait will lead 6th - 8th

Muhammad jibreel will lead from 9th - 13th

Khalifa al tunaiji from UAE will lead from 14th till 19th( from 20th he might be at Salag bu khatir's mosque like last year InshahAllah)

FARIS ABBAD!! Is leading from 1st till the 20th ramadan at masjid Rashid bin humaid n from 21st till end of ramdan he will InshahAllah lead at sheikh zayed mosque in AJMAN
All the above r leading at sheikh zayed mosque in ajman, dont confuse it with the big beautiful sheikh zayed mosque in abu dhabi though.

Apart from that we have sheikh Salah Bu khatir who leads at masjid sheikh saud also know as al shahba mosque or better know as bukhatir mosque in sharjah , its located in the al qasnmi hospital intersection , n there is sheikh abu ubaid from libya who recites very beautifully in sharjah his masjid is right behind millenium hotel sharjah. He is some of the few people that do not beautify their voices in making duaa al qunoot , as there is no evidence of reciting the duaa like the recitation of quran , the tajweed n tarteel is something for quran alone n there is no proof from the authentic sunah of reciting the duaa like the whole ummah recites today ,may Allah guide us al

Assalam o alikum

Bin-Humaid decries attack
Arab News
*
*
MAKKAH: Imam and Khatib at the Grand Mosque Saleh Bin-Humaid condemned the terror attack on Prince Muhammad bin Naif, assistant interior minister for security affairs, in his Friday sermon at the Grand Mosque in Makkah.

The imam was referring to an attack in which a suicide bomber attempted to kill Prince Muhammad at his home in Jeddah on Thursday night.

Bin-Humaid exhorted Muslims to be God-fearing and virtuous, particularly in the holy month of Ramadan. Congratulations to our leader and ruler, to the crown prince and to all people in the country who love it. They (the terrorists) did not target him (Prince Muhammad) alone but all those whom he represents and are proud of him, Bin-Humaid said in his sermon.
The heinous deed of these wicked and misguided people has betrayed their lunacy and foolishness. Their horrendous attempt on the life of the prince reveals the weakness of their ideas and objective. The prince and his men with their correct ideology, sound planning, determination, courage and above all with the blessings of Almighty Allah have driven those wretched men out of their hiding places. Now they have no option but to undertake dastardly acts such as this. Thank Allah for keeping the land of the Two Holy Mosques safe and peaceful.

Citizens, residents, pilgrims, visitors and worshippers are all living in total safety, he said.
The khatib warned people against being influenced by the unhealthy aspects of the modern concepts of liberalism, freedom of thought and individual freedoms.

Indirectly referring to a Saudi mans bragging about his sex life on LBCs Bold Red Line last month, the imam said: Personal freedom does not mean permissiveness and satisfaction of carnal desires. Life is not just enjoying ones lustful desires and yielding to crude impulses.

Liberalism and freedom of thought do not mean lack of accountability and negligence of moral values, he said.
It is in fact a public display of his own shameful sins. We all know that public announcement of shameful deeds amounts to tearing apart the protection given by Almighty Allah and challenging Him with disobedience. The exhibition of ones moral aberration also indicates ones religious and moral standards.

why there wouldnt be dua tonight ?
Our prophet (pbuh) was making du'a sometimes and sometimes he wasn't ,so
we followed our prophet (pbuh).

Witer du'a'a is not one of the condition of the prayer validity .
It's sunnah to not make du'a in each witer you preform .

It was proved from the Sahaba that they left out the duaa at times, not any particular nights though , randomly.

Qunoot is Sunnah. Based on this, if a worshipper omits Qunoot, his prayer is still valid.

Shaykh Ibn Baaz (may Allaah have mercy on him) was asked about the ruling on reciting the du’aa’ of Qunoot in Witr during the nights of Ramadaan, and whether it is permissible to omit it.

He replied:

Qunoot is Sunnah in Witr and if a person omits it sometimes, there is nothing wrong with that.

And he was asked about a person who always recites Qunoot in Witr every night – was that narrated from our forebears (the salaf)?

He replied:

There is nothing wrong with that, rather it is Sunnah, because when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) taught al-Husayn ibn ‘Ali (may Allaah be pleased with him) to say Qunoot in Witr, he did not tell him to omit it sometimes or to do it all the time. This indicates that either is permissible. Hence it was narrated that when Ubayy ibn Ka’b (may Allaah be pleased with him) led the Sahaabah in prayer in the Mosque of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), he used to omit Qunoot some nights; perhaps that was in order to teach the people that it is not obligatory. And Allaah is the Source of strength.

Btw, Sheikh Khaalid Ghamidi is younger than Sheikh Sa'd Ghamidi. Sheikh Sa'd Ghamidi is 52 and Sheikh Khaalid Ghamidi is about 43. :X

Wa alaykumus salaam

Yeah, I think so too. I was really surprised when I learn that he was 52!

I'm in a dilemma: who do I listen to today? Sheikh Sa'd Ghamidi with Sura Yoosuf or Sheikh Shuraim with Sura Hood? :><:

I got the answer for this. During Ramadhan, they use the Muslim World League calculation method for the Fajr time, ie 18 degrees, not 19 degrees which is used in the Ummal Qura method. It seems like MWL calculation is more accurate at many places in the world, not only the Land of Haramain.

What to do as a precaution?

As a precaution, you may stop eating some time before the Fajr prayer and pray some time after it. We suggest to customize the calculation details by picking 19.5 degrees for computing the Imsak time and 15 degrees for computing the Fajr prayer time. You can customize your settings (including the calculation method) by clicking on 'Change' under the 'Settings' panel on the left hand side of the main page.

Can someone explain to me how the taraweeh in Madinah is faster/further..

For example today in Madinah they were reciting surah Yusuf while they were still reciting surah Hud in Makkah... it's usually the other way around? Since when did Madinah catch up and is it because they have more imams there?

^ In Madeenah they pray 1.25 Juzz before they get to half, whereas in Makkah they'll most likely do it in the last ten days.

A belated RAMADAN MABROOK to everyone!

Mashallah taraweeh prayers are just awesome.

Inshallah I am flying out for Umrah next week will only be in Makkah for a few days and will spend the last 10 days in Madina Munawarrah. I spoke with Shaykh Saleh Talib and will be meeting him inshallah.

In Madina will be meeting Shaykh Budair, Mohsin Al Qasim and Shaykh Hudaifee inshallah, all arranged and Shaykh Budair was also saying last time I spoke to him (in english arabic) "when are you coming I am waiting for you!"

Will also be going to meet Shaykh Mohammed Ayoub a friend of mine is his close student at the Madina University!

I will inshallah post my experiences (and maybe a photo) of my meetings with the Shaykhs.

Please remember in your duaas in this blessed month.

AlhumdoLILLAH , Sheikh Shuraim did a really important khutbah , there is no issue more important that this for the Ummah of Islam when some of its membes have been caught in the fitnah of killing themselfes n other muslims , may Allah save us all from such horrible acts n such horrible ideology.

N about the taraweeh today , sheikh juhany recited very beautifully , THAT! is the juhany i know n love , so energetic n so much passion n he took his time with the verses , i was slightly disappointed with the sheikh's pace at the beginning of ramadan , he was kinda too fast with fatiha n the recitation in general ,but today he did what he does best , i heared his whole taraweeh while driving back home as i was stuck in the crazy traffic of sharjah. May Allah reward him n all the other imams n scholars n students of knowledge n protect them n the whole ummah from the evil of those who kill themselfes n others in the name of jihad n for the sake of Allah , not knowing that their act will end them up in fire forever.. Allah ul Musta'an.

Cant wait for sheikh shuraim n Mahir surah Al maryam n taha, InshahAllah its gonna be awsome shurim n mahir nights have been ectraordinary , may Allah protect them.
