While the government, in co-ordination with the supermarkets, has frozen the prices of essential commodities at lower rates than the usual, eateries have refused to follow suit and one has even raised the cost of its Iftar meals. Pictured (right) is a notice pasted on the glass door of a restaurant which reads: “Our dearest customers, on the occasion of Ramadan, the price of a breakfast (Iftar) meal inside the restaurant would be QR25. It includes a main course (rice with chicken), fattoush (dried bread), dates (two or three pieces), a small bottle of water and juice (Tang). For a meal including Hamour (fish), the rate is QR30 during Ramadan.” (Gulf Times)

Most Indonesian men would wear baju koko during special religious events.
When I was at Masjidil Haraam/Masjid Nabawwi, it was also easy to identify Indonesians as most would wear the shirt.

In the plate theres samosas (triangle shaped thing with usually minced meat and potato filling or vegeatable and pototo filling), then theres some dates, some apple and some jalebi (extremely sugary fried thing, not healthy at all)

In pakistan this just is starters, the main course comes after, usually your rice and meat, or bread and meat

That sounds fab, Banu_Hashim. Please do! :)

I was talking to our vicar last Saturday.
We have been trying to forge links with our local masjid for some time, and he is hoping to get a joint meal together for Eid. We may not be able to arrange it in time for this year (there always seem to be certain resistant elements on both sides) - but if we don't manage it this year, we can always start planning for next Ramadan. :statisfie
So I would be really interested in your experience and your feedback.

Palestinians decorate the covered passages of Jerusalem's Old City as the holy Muslim month of Ramadan begins.

Prayer time in Jakarta's Istiqlal mosque

Some traditions vary from region to region; in the Bosnian town of Kladanj, Muslim woman and girls gather to pray at a cave, the water of which is said to have mystical qualities.

In many Shia Muslims areas, including much of Iraq where this woman is praying, the holy month - calculated by the variable lunar calendar - will begin on Tuesday or Wednesday.

The Mohabbat Khan mosque in Peshawar, Pakistan, gets a special clean for a time of peak attendance at religious rituals.

One of the global aspects of Ramadan is the use of certain foods to break the fast, with the date being particularly favoured in many countries.

Salaam,

Kohl is used at the eyes to prevent from eyes disease and I guess also for cosmetic purpose for women. I don't know what to call it in English, but in my native tongue, it's called as Chelak. My grandma used to put it to her eyes. You can put it yourself at your eyes, but for me, it's quite scary :skeleton:
