Hello, this might seem like a bit of a strange question but I would like to know if it is ok to be unclean when starting a fast. By unclean I mean, you know, unclean down there.

Do you mean not making ghusl before fajr?

To try to clear any confusion, what I mean is, not making ghusl before sehri ends (before praying fajr). Can one make the intention to fast while being unclean?
And I'm sorry if this thread is in the wrong section, this is only my first day here.:)

yes, you can start your fasting even if you have not made ghusl.
It does not invalidate the fasting.
But you should make ghusl as soon as you can, and you have to, because you will have to be clean for the fajr prayer.

With regard to fasting, it is not essential for a person to do ghusl before Fajr starts in order for his fast to be valid. If he starts a day of fasting whilst he is junub (impure as a result of sexual activity) his fast is till valid. (See:
70 issues related to fasting). But he should hasten to do ghusl so that he can pray Fajr on time.
And Allaah knows best.

Just clarifying myself:I did not say it's fardh(means, you have to) to do Ghusl before Fajr Al Saalah but if you feel you are dirty, then that is the best thing to perform. Allah knows the best.
