Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah

Please remember the following Ahadith before reading on:

Anas RadiAllahu Anhu said: The Messenger of Allah SalAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam said: “He who leaves his home in order to seek knowledge, he is in Allah’s path until he returns [to his home]. [At-Tirmidhi].

Let's help the children of today to walk on the Path of Allah from an early age insha'Allah.

Alhamdulillah, by the grace of Allah, Al Ameen Primary School has moved forward since the past few years and we continue to pray for success.

Being a charitable organisation, we are in constant need of your support and as a result will be holding a live TV fundraising appeal on Channel S SKY 814 on Tuesday 8th September 2009 (18th Ramadhaan) between 5pm and 5am. The funds raised from the event will go towards much needed work to be carried out at the school including the operational costs involved. We appeal to you to help us in this noble cause derving maximum benefit from the month of Ramadhaan wherein our rewards are multiplied upto seventy times and beyond.

Please find below some of our activities.

Jazakumullahu Khairan

Al Ameen Foundation

Al Ameen Foundation was conceptualised in December 2003 by a group of Ulama and like-minded professionals in order to meet the growing need for Islamic education in mainstream society. The foundation began with small projects and expanded as time went by.

Since its inception, the foundation had always endeavoured to form a recognised body which would be responsible for providing education on a professional level either by way of a school or madrasah.

In September of 2005, our prayers were answered and through the grace of Allah we opened our doors to an Islamic nursery and primary school.

It was difficult at first, however through the grace of Allah and the support of the community, we pulled through.

The school, recognised by the Department for Education Standards has since, built itself from nursery, up until a fully fledged primary school till year 6.

Allah continued to shower his blessings and in 2006 we opened our doors to a small group of students and formed the evening madrasah. Since then, the number of students has grown from a handful to over 100 students of which 18 are doing hifz of the Quran.

Apart from the primary school and madrasah, the foundation continues to provide support to the local and wider community.

Recent welfare projects we have been involved in include:

· Raising awareness and donations for the victims of the recent tsunamis

· Providing support and raising funds for the victims of the recent earthquakes in Pakistan

· Aiding the victims of the recent cyclone in Bangladesh

· Raising awareness for supporting the victims of the recent cyclone in Burma

Al Ameen Primary School

Aims and objectives

The school is committed to providing an Islamic education with a high standard of teaching in the delivery of the National Curriculum.

As providers of education at a very critical point in a child’s life we aim to:

· inspire all children to achieve their best

· make children aware of their abilities and give them the support and strength they need to achieve further

· work closely with parents/guardians to ensure their children attain the highest standards

· ensure that girls and boys have equal access to all areas of the curriculum

· form each child to appreciate Quranic Texts with confidence and insight

· provide learning in a joyous Islamic atmosphere

· prepare our pupils to live as Muslims, participating proudly and fully with every aspect of modern life, drawing strength, meaning and direction for a thorough understanding of Islamic being, principles and practice.

By attempting the above, we hope to become an effective school, in which support, coaching, nurturing, challenge and reflection work hand in hand to improve outcomes for children. All of this we endeavour to provide in an Islamic atmosphere wherein the curriculum meets the needs, enthusiasms and learning styles of all children.

Staff

The school endeavours to employ experienced teaching staff and classroom assistants in order to impart the best possible education to the pupils.

Teachers are encouraged to continue their professional development through school-based and external in-service training (INSET) programmes, and those run by various boards including the Association of Muslim Schools UK (AMSUK).

School Ethos

· To develop the whole personality of pupils with Tawheed at the core and Islam as the main focus of their lives, taking guidance from the Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad.

· To encourage the pursuit and acquisition of general knowledge and skills.

· To promote the dignity of each young person through self-respect, respect for peers and through the development of personal responsibility.

· To help young people understand the complexity of the world in which they live and that their own well being is closely connected to the well being of others.

· To ensure that young people enjoy their life at school and develop a love of learning and a strong desire to continue their education as a lifelong experience.

· To acquire a moral attitude to life through conscientious awareness and the practice of divine guidance in all affairs and transactions.

Curriculum

Throughout the curriculum, we encourage all the children to strive for personal excellence and we endeavour to provide them with a strong sense of values.

• We follow the National Curriculum providing breadth of study in all subjects

• We aim to develop an enjoyment of and commitment to learning as a means of encouraging and stimulating the best possible progress and the highest attainment for all pupils, ultimately hoping every child succeeds.

• All children at Al Ameen Primary School are encouraged to think for themselves, question their learning and solve problems. Creativity and individuality are valued.

• We build on pupils’ strengths, interests and experiences. We develop their knowledge, skills, understanding and their confidence in their capacity to learn and work independently and collaboratively.

Through the curriculum we also help pupils develop physical skills and encourage them to pursue a healthy lifestyle and to keep themselves and others safe. Our broad balanced curriculum ensures that all our pupils leave well prepared for a lifetime of change in a “knowledge society” equipped with skills to become independent, responsible, caring adults who respect themselves and others and value the wider groups to which they belong.

General Curriculum Overview

We provide the following subjects:

- Quran
- Islamic Studies
- Arabic Language
- Literacy (English)
- Numeracy (Mathematics)
- Science
- History
- Geography
- P.E (Physical Education)
- Information & Communication Technology (ICT)
- Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education

All of the above subjects are provided within an Islamic environment integrating Islamic principles and practices.

To make all of the subjects we provide efficient, we have obtained many resources and created facilities for easier and effective learning.

These include a school library, a dedicated ICT suite, schemes and plans by expert organisations in education, visual teaching technology, projectors and interactive whiteboards, practical teaching materials and much more.

Policies

To make the running of the school efficient and more effective, we have a list of policies available. These policies range from health & safety to staff management and even on to more detail such as homework and reading policies. We hope that by sticking to these policies, we can have a universal method of teaching in a way that can be adapted to suit the needs of children with staff assisting each other to reach targets and goals.

Discipline

Bullying and the use of bad or vulgar language will not be tolerated, nor will any other anti-Islamic and anti-social behaviour.

The school seeks to emphasise the importance of good Islamic Aadab, as shown to us by our beloved Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). This is important not only in the classroom but also in the playground and elsewhere. Parents and pupils alike must be conscious of the fact that as Muslims, we are “on display” before Allah at all times, and as “the best Ummah” (Al-Qur’an) we should set a good example to the general public. Good Aadab is therefore, essential.

Pupils and staff are encouraged to greet each other with “Assalamu ‘alaikum” as part of the effort to build an Islamic atmosphere and in co-ordinance with the hadeeth of the Prophet ‘spread salaam amongst yourselves’, and children should get into the habit of greeting other Muslims, whether they are known or not, with the correct Islamic salutation.

A discipline policy at the school ensures that pupils are made aware of what is acceptable behaviour and that a ‘sliding scale’ of sanctions may be used if unacceptable behaviour occurs. This may lead to detention or, in exceptional cases, suspension or even exclusion.
