Poem 1

Hardship and Ease

It’s like a cycle that never wants to end
Always the same story never seems to change
How much of her precious tears has she shed?
1, 5 ,10 litres? These figures don't even compare!
So many years have gone, a difference can’t be seen
She makes a compromise and accepts it’s her fate
The heart has gone ice cold, the tears have all froze
Imaan hits its lowest point, the haq is questioned
Back has turned ... why seems to be the only word
She stands alone, struggling to cope
What is she looking for? Something is missing
Who does she turn to when she has no one? ....

... It's the same situation but perception changes
She soon realises the purpose of living
Is it more worth being rewarded in the duniya or akhirah?
Remembering Allah down goes her forehead
Hands raise to the Almighty and sincere duaa are made
Allah becomes her strength and His words becomes her hope
How can she deny the truth: “with hardship indeed there is ease” ?
Impossible is beginning to look possible, Light can be seen at the end of the tunnel
She smiles and locks away all the pain, no one will ever know her inner struggle
Trust has been restored, sabr has always been maintained
I pray that insha’Allah the beauties of Jannat for her await.

Ameen

Surah Al-Inshirah (Solace) 94:6-8
Surely with hardship there is ease.
with hardship indeed there is ease.
So when you are free, work diligently
and turn to your Lord with all your love.

Poem 2

Our silent deal

Breaking the silence to reach you.
You really aren’t that far away...
And if I’m lucky sometimes I feel you
In and around me- breaking me free

There’s a passion in that mat
When it’s 3am and no one knows
Who knows…
Where my mind goes…
As I lose myself in the bliss of joining you in your domain

There’s a power in your light...
It draws me away
To a place where they can’t hurt me
And you won’t hate me if I stay.

All I fear is your absence
All I feel is your essence
All I want is your presence
In the emptiness that is me.
You made me weak but im happy
Knowing that you are mercy
To those who cannot run it alone…
…who are accident-prone
…whose hearts have turned to stone

Yes, you are mercy
And that is all I believe
That is all I need
To smile in the morning,
Go to sleep at night,
Exhale that breathe and
Put up with this fight.

You will not leave me alone,
It’s our silent deal…
You promised me when you made me
And nothing since has been real.

This world, my world, is coming to an end
The time when people pretend and
have hands they do not lend.
It’s a time where we take up everything,
Yet we make up nothing.
To breathe is one thing, to live is another.
To know is one thing, to believe is his hikmah.

Let there be no questions, no answers, no sight.
Let there be no voice, no hand, no light.
Who needs those when all you need to believe,
Is the truth the sun carries
As it reaches the trees…

Poem 3

Sincerity

i see him in the distance looking so pleased
a face shining with pleasure and ease
easy to approach, gentle in speech
inspirational..
as though nothing is out of his reach.

with no knowledge, i speak a word or two
"Brother, ive never met anyone as amazing as you"
he tries to smile as his eyes well up in tears,
and i can feel on his shoulders a mountain of fears..

and i wish for a second that i hadnt spoken
as i know just aswell that i wasnt mistaken
for i heard that brother whisper inside
"My lord forgive me.. for that which i hide..."

Poem 4

On her respected forehead he placed his lips
Hugged her goodbye, and wiped her tears

Reassuring her she needed not to grieve,
on his comfortable life, he turned his back, and farewelled it readily

Fearing naught, he accepted unpredictable strife
Like he king of the jungle he stood his ground, strong in might

In warning to the invader of his territory, he angrily growled
Positioning his paws, he stared left and right, ready to pounce

Fending off the invader he easily achieved
Protecting his Pride, he fought on heroically

But then

But then a noise rang through the air
As a bullest whistled by, aimed for its victim

Blood poured, a last growl sounded
His soul ever alive, yet his body had expired

And thus the kind of the jungle happily accepted his destiny
As he was entered into the realm of True Reality

Not a care in the world had he had when buried in a ditch
Nay, so tranquil he looked as he was granted his inner most wishes

His face shone like light, as if witnessing something beyond his dreams
A smile played on his lips as he enjoyed the delight of eternity

A concession to the terrors of a Great Day he was given
In the heart of a green bird he took residence

Intersession awarded, grievance removed
A reassured loved one, a well earned promise, fulfilled

Poem 5

Rhythmic Statement

Sometimes its hard to accept
what my radar intercepts
so when its outside i rock my boots
admiring the ceramics ,listening to quran for a boost-
when spiritual development has become so static-
i revitalize my natural foundational roots
Its hard when democracy is ruling the roost
it means little or no morality
that means "common entertainment"
that draws you to sex, drugs and apostasy to make it a "common sentiment"
it merely means more unwanted unborn dead babies that lay bloody gouged out by ****ty ladies
In this cruel terrain its a must i lower my gaze
to attain the divine shade
on a day when criminals will be set ablaze
i know its a big fat duty
but i'll have to ignore ms fat booty
may my heart never be put on the guillotine
by the 21st century maniac girl who wears lipstick maybelline
and if i fall for devilish ways then may i never be serene.

Poem 6

Into This World

I’m born
A clinging form
Between water and clay
Wilt Thou release me forth
Into this world?

I came forth
And testified
But I now forget what my lips once spoke
Betwixt that glimmering Hope
And the glamour of this world

I seek one to reflect my embrace
But find empty vessels
And the stone turns
Black, blacker, blackened
Until I am quarantined inside

Wilt Thou release me forth
From this quarantine?

I find a vessel
Its name is Escape
And I drink from it
Until I am without feeling
But, neigh - the vessel drinks me!

So alone, so cold!
Falling through time and space
Trapped inside his mind
There is no longer peace for him
In this world

Existence unravelling
Adrift in seas without end
But the one trapped inside
Cries out from the depths of darkness
‘Save me!’

And he awakens to see the dawn
With eyes anew
And embraces those who saved him
And he stumbles out into the light in their embrace
Like an old man, reborn

And he sees himself mirrored
As an ageless spectre
Who enquires, ‘Where art that vessel, O Travellers?’
And they reply to him, ‘It is that way, O Vagrant’
For that is the way of he who is lost

And he bids farewell
To that past
And he cries forth openly
Repentant to those whom he betrayed
And the days are long

And he remembers those words he spoke
In a time removed
And he utters them anew
And he repents
And the days are long

Wandering
A stranger in a strange land
He remembers laughter
And childhood
And the days become lessened

And he returns to his home
And he begins again
For now he is the Lord’s vessel
Moving forth
Into this world

Poem 7

My Divine Saviour

Drowning in a sea of loneliness,
The force of death sucking me under.
The waves of darkness go on for eternity,
And I am about to be pulled asunder.

Then comes shining a ray happiness,
Its brightness opening up my eyes.
Its beauty stops me from being swallowed into the darkness--
The fearsome descent halted to my surprise.

My mind is no longer immersed in the black waves
The light the most beautiful thing I could find
Its warmth causes my soul to shed its restlessness.
I want to take it and make it mine.

My body is dragged out from the depths of hatred
My heart is beating faster, I don’t understand!
As I get closer to my divine savior.
I feel my body hit dry land.

Who could have saved me from perpetual self-dread?
Who could have saved me when I was dead?
Only a cry can be heard from my creator;
A cry that disperses all woe.

"Alhamdulillah!" I shout back,
As I realize who my savior is to be.
It turns my pliable soul into a solid stone of purity.
I have found my salvation,
I pledge my allegiance always.
"Alhamdulillah! My Rabb," I say, bowing in peaceful submission.

Sweet tasting mouldy old green cheese
a burning spoonfull of tuna
and a diamond encrusted pudding
all have nothing in common

People shouldn't fart
in public places no less
without waiting to see if the area's clear
at least

You close your eyes
you miss the deadline
you dread the outcome
oh, precious sight

Never again
blue violets
and red roses
and sweet sugar

There we have it
a remarkable piece of literature
of Einsteinic proportions
awaiting the nobel peace prize for poetic genius
and a final line to break the pattern
dot dot dot

Feel free to vote now insha'Allah :D

P.S The above entry isnt included in the contest, just a lil bit of light humour :p

I was thinking of moving poll to helpdesk and getting mods to vote so that the winner can be announced later, we'll see though insha'Allah. If votes remain as they are we'll probably just have a 1st place winner and maybe a 2nd. That sound ok?
