Hope your all in gud health, this mite b too much info but i need sme help, me n my husband r thinking of starting a family Inshallah, the thing is you see i was born with 'Congenital Heart Disease', basically my heart valves were all the wrong way around and they had to correct this wen i was a baby. Now i have been reading up on this on the net, there is a chance that the child could inherit the disease and also the mothers life could be placed at risk as the heart has to work twice as much and sme hearts are not strong enough to go through the whole process. We are due to go and see the cardiologist in Jan Inshallah and we are going to discuss the risks to myself n the child etc etc. I know that i will take the docs advise into consideration but at the end of the day it is up to Allah SWT what will happen.I jst want to know that will i have to take advice from a muslim cardiologist regarding this matter 2 or jst this docs?

a muslim cardiologist is not needed to tell you your health risks, do you think there is a specific reason why you would need a muslim instead of non muslim?

may Allah keep you strong and healthy! Ameen

Because islamicly we get married to continue the ummah, this doc is a non muslim of crse so he does not know the importance of having children in islam. As he does not knw this he could say the risk to my life is high by having children and not to go ahead with it.

salaam sister,

I to was born with Congenital Heart Disease, Although mine is VSD, which basically means there is a hole between the two bottom chambers of my heart and blood goes through it the wrong way, making the heart work twice as hard as it has to.

Anyway, when I went to see the cardio specialist last time, they said it wouldn't effect me having children.

I'll pray the advice they give you is what you want to hear and Inshallah, you will both get the family you want :)

I certainly think that having a better understanding of the risks and chances for you and your future babies will help you and your husband make the right decisions.

Your doctor can only give you medical advice, not make the decision. The decision will be yours!

I hope and pray that all will go well for you, and that you will get good news! :)

Hope you all in good health, i went to see my cardiologist yesterday, he sed all is fine in respect of another problem i was having. Anyways i dint get a chance to speak to him about starting a family, this is because this cardiologist is not a specialist in the condition i have.... so now i have to ait till april when i go n see the specialist in Liverpool. I know its all in Allahs hands n i do believe that but i was upset yesterday as i really want to start trying for a family but i have to speak a cardiologist before anything. My original appt for liverpool was for march n now it hs been put back to april but not with the original doc, i told the doc yesteray about this n he sed he will writ to liverpool and request for me to see the original doc who dealt with me when i was born but he also sed that the appt will get more delayed. im sorry if im goin on a bit n Jazakallah for even taking time to read this but im upset and annoyed imsad
