:salamext:,

Let's make a thread for dhikrullah (the remembrance of Allah) in the general section :'), similar to this thread on Ummah forums: http://www.ummah.com/forum/showthrea...rance-of-Allah!

Just post something related to reminding us of Allah, can be anything Islamic, such as an ayah or 2, a hadith, youtube video. You can also bump up the thread by saying takbir (Allahu Akbar!) if you have no dhikr to post. Insha Allah it'll be a great way to earn some good deeds and remember the reason for existence :') (to know Allah and to serve Him i.e. Islam).

I'll start it off:

"...Beware, in the body there is a flesh; if it is sound, the whole body is sound, and if it is corrupt, the whole body is corrupt, and behold, it is the heart."
[Al-Bukhari & Muslim]

"Wisdom is the re-finding of innocence" [Talib Habib]

The Companion of the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace), Mu`adh ibn Jabal (Allah be pleased with him) said,
"Acquire knowledge because doing so is good. Seeking it is worship. Reviewing it is glorifying Allah. Researching it is jihad. Teaching it to the ignorant is charity."

Wassalam.

Jazakum Allah Khairan for the nice adhkar brothers and sisters (I mean brother :o ) :').

Those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism), and whose hearts find rest in the remembrance of Allah, Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.

Those who remember Allah (always, and in prayers) standing, sitting, and lying down on their sides, and think deeply about the creation of the heavens and the earth, (saying): "Our Lord! You have not created (all) this without purpose, glory to You! (Exalted be You above all that they associate with You as partners). Give us salvation from the torment of the Fire.

May Allah make us like those described in the verse... Ameen.

Allaah says: "And remember your Lord with your tongue and within yourself, humbly and with fear and without loud words, in the morning and afternoon and be not of those who are neglectful." [Surah Al-A’araaf: 205]

I fell upon this ayat too :) :

"O you who believe! Remember Allâh with much remembrance." [Surah al- Ahzab:41]

There is nothing wrong with publishing things that remind us of Allah, or making separate or linked posts of inspiring quotations or verses or ahadith. But what is this you're doing turning the worship of Allah "dhikrullah" into a game like this? Are we playing with God's worship?

Before some of you respond by saying, "what is wrong with mentioning Allah?!" I respond with the statements of Abdullah ibn Masood when he was called to speak to the people who gathered in the masjid and were making Dhikr in a group by counting the pebbles to say "Allahu Akbar" a hundred times along with "Subhanallah" and "La Ilaha Illa Allah":

"What is this I see you doing?" They replied: "O Abu `Abd al-Rahman! These are pebbles upon which we are counting takbir, tahlil and tasbih." He said: "Count your evil deeds instead. I assure you that none of your good deeds will be lost. Woe to you, O Umma of Muhammad, sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam, how quickly you go to destruction! Here are your Prophet's Companions available in abundance (mutawafirun), and there are his clothes which have not yet decayed and his bowl which is unbroken. By Him in Whose Hand is my soul, Either you are following a Religion that is better guided than the Religion of Muhammad sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam, or you are opening a door of misguidance."
[al-Hakam ibn al-Mubarak who narrates from `Amr ibn Salima al-Hamadani, authenticated by Abd al-Razzaaq report in his Musannaf, vol 3, p. 221, hadeeth 5408, of a separate narration from Sufyan b. Uyaynah, from Bayan b. Qays, from Abu Hazim]

Did the prophet and his companions gather together and each person spontaneously mention a verse or hadith or words of wisdom and then someone would shout Allahu Akbar and so on? Calling it Dhikr?

Brothers and sisters, this is the heart of innovation. May God bless you and your families do not fall into it, it is the beginning of misguidance: "Most honest book is the book of Allah, and best guidance is the guidance of Mohammad, and the worst of matters (of religion) are its Muhdathat, for every Muhdatha is an innovation, and every innovation is a misguidance, and every innovation is destined for hellfire." [Al-Nisa'i in this pronouncement, 3/188]

If you want to mention Allah and make dhikr, then close the computer and make dhikr as you and us were taught by the prophet -s.a.a.w.-. If you want to post inspiring parts of a lecture or an interesting hadith, then do so WITHOUT interjecting it and plugging in words of worship and turning Dhikr of Allah into a game.

May we be granted guidance and forgiveness, and always spared any misguidance.

^ i dont think that was the intended purpose of this thread...i think the point of this thread is just to post anything and everything that is of benefit to our iman- i.e the remembrance of Allah, not in the sense where one says subhanAllah, alhamdulillah etc, but in the sense where out iman maybe benefited none-the-less.

^ It doesn't have to be an intended purpose. It is enough that he said:

Additionally, I don't even see that just repeating verses and ahadith irrelevent to each other is worship nor earning good deeds nor rememberance, and to suggest that is a statement of innovation.

This whole board is for us to remember Allah, and it does. The whole section of the board "General" is for people to just post whatever comes to their mind, and there are sections here for posting favourite hadith or inspiring verse, so it is obvious there was a more specific thought to making a "flow" and thinking that is earning good deeds. That is by definition an innovation sister and should be told against.
