The opening ceremony last night was absolutely beautiful. Now THAT is creativity surpassing Beijing and Torino. Now for the sports. If your countries are participating, good luck.

did you guys see what happened to Nodar Koemaritasjvili before the opening? that was just terrible....

I didn't see the opening ceremony and it seems that its not available yet in youtube

I heard it on the news late yesterday before the ceremonies. It was horrible. What a stupid idea it was to construct the track like that.

I live in a snowy alpine country and we've even sent 50 athletes but I doubt we'll get anything. It's fun to watch.

I've always found the Winter Olympics a rather scaled back and lacklustre affair, whose only true purpose is to create anticipation for the *real* thing. Which, I am proud to say, is being hosted in my own city.
