I've been feelin really down lately, like somthin massive is missing from inside me, like I don't belong in this dunya no more, I feel depressed and lonely even when I'm around my mates and family

I dunno what it is and why, this feeling is there from when I wake up till I sleep, I hate it so much, I kno only Allah can heal it. First I thought it might be cause I want a marriage partner but I aint too sure, then I thought it might be lack of socialising but that can't be cause I always have people around me. Its not lack of deen. Its something to do with this life in this dunya, I look at this life in a different way now, like nothin matters everythins just fake and temporary, like theres no real happiness here.

Any suggestions on what it is or why i'm feelin so depressd?

Truly in the heart there is a void that can not be removed except with the company of Allah.

And in it there is a sadness that can not be removed except with the happiness of knowing Allah and being true to Him.

And in it there is an emptiness that can not be filled except with love for Him and by turning to Him and always remembering Him.

And if a person were given all of the world and what is in it, it would not fill this emptiness.

Wa alaykum salam,

This is my take on feelings like this (long read).

No doubt, what you are experiencing is a good thing. What you said about fakeness is spot on. Imagine if dajal were to emerge tomorrow. People now are far too indulgant and heedless and would be easy prey to him. I'm not saying you're invulnerable to dajjal, but certainly, when your perspective of life changes to the way it has, you are more prepared than the rest.

However, it is very important that you don't let your condition lead you to abandon the world or the sunnah. Don't let this feeling demoralise you (indeed, that's where it's double-edged).

Many people feel what u feel, ur not alone, some people feel all that even after getting married, judge everything in its proportion, dont get carried away with grief and anxieties since the life in this dunya remains imperfect, its only jannah suitable for a true believer....

subhan allah :)

Assalamualaikum
Don't think you are alone we feel alone even if we are with our friends but Allah is with you no one else is so close to you as Allah is.This feeling takes you more closer to Allah. The best way to remove this depression is to read quran with its meaning and think of Allah when you are going to sleep. Our duas are with you. Allah is the one from whom we can hope something.:hmm:
May Allah make our muslim brothers and sisters iman strong.
Ameen

SUBHANALLAH, JazakhAllah khair akhi for these precious words and may Allah bless ibn qayyim, he's spot on. Yes remberance of Allah is what helps me most of time, just knowing He's there and praising Him and having love for Him.

And yes nothing is this world can fill this gap, they're all temporary pleasures that can never bring about true happiness and contentment.

Bruv thats an excellent article you've written, I think its unbelievable that you share the exact same take on it like me

This world is meaningless to him. 'Live as though you are a traveller'.. how is that possible if you love this world too much?
This is exactly how I feel - as though I'm a traveller in Allah's land, I don't feel I belong in any specific place. And yh I live every day as it comes, the bad side of it is I become lazy in things like studies - leaving everything till last minute.

I didn't know that this depression/emptiness has its positive traits about it, I just need to get a balance right and not become lazy and demotivated about things
