Why not have a desire for both worlds?
Afterall we are not 100% guaranteed that there will be a hereafter.

Still we can enjoy life in this world by doing everything Halal.
Dont Neglect this life for the next either. Have fun in this life by doing positive things and hopefully we can also enjoy in the hereafter.

^ 2:4. And who believe in (the Qur'ân and the Sunnah) which has been sent down (revealed) to you (Muhammad Peace be upon him ) and in [the Taurât (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel), etc.] which were sent down before you and they believe with certainty in the Hereafter. (Resurrection, recompense of their good and bad deeds, Paradise and Hell, etc.).
5. They are on (true) guidance from their Lord, and they are the successful.

77:13. For the Day of sorting out (the men of Paradise from the men destined for Hell).
14. And what will explain to you what is the Day of sorting out?
15. Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!
16. Did We not destroy the ancients?
17. So shall We make later generations to follow them.
18. Thus do We deal with the Mujrimûn (polytheists, disbelievers, sinners, criminals, etc.)!

77:29. (It will be said to the disbelievers): "Depart you to that which you used to deny!

75:5. Nay! (Man denies Resurrection and Reckoning. So) he desires to continue committing sins.
6. He asks: "When will be this Day of Resurrection?"
7. So, when the sight shall be dazed,
8. And the moon will be eclipsed,
9. And the sun and moon will be joined together (by going one into the other or folded up or deprived of their light, etc.)
10. On that Day man will say: "Where (is the refuge) to flee?"
11. No! There is no refuge!
12. Unto your Lord (Alone) will be the place of rest that Day.
13. On that Day man will be informed of what he sent forward (of his evil or good deeds), and what he left behind (of his good or evil traditions).
14. Nay! Man will be a witness against himself [as his body parts (skin, hands, legs, etc.) will speak about his deeds].

74:42. "What has caused you to enter Hell?"
43. They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salât (prayers)
44. "Nor we used to feed Al-Miskin (the poor);
45. "And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allâh hated) with vain talkers.
46. "And we used to belie the Day of Recompense
47. "Until there came to us (the death) that is certain."
48. So no intercession of intercessors will be of any use to them

It says you are Muslim - we have been told there is a hereafter for sure. I don't think there is any branch which disagrees with that fundamental.

You can't spread your bets :p

Well, that has nothing to do with being fundamentalist or not!!

The six articles of faith are very clear:
1. Believe in Allah
2. Believe in his Angels
3. Believe in his Books
4. Believe in his Prophets
5. Believe in Judgment Day
6. Believe in Predestination

I am curios to know, if you have doubts, what do you expect the end of this life will be like?

Why not have a desire for both worlds?
This world is only temporary , you may live only fo 60-75 years . The life of the hereafter(Paradise or Hell ) is eternal. So you should actually not be concerened about the life of this world and should instead have a desire to save yourself from hellfire and pray for Allah's grace and mercy to enter Paradise.

Afterall we are not 100% guaranteed that there will be a hereafter.
These words sound like the words of an atheist not a Theist and are no doubt signs of a weak imaan.May i ask why do you beleive that there will not be a hereafter ?

How come there will be no hereafter? there is everything in pair and thats how everything is in balance, this is the very balance which holds everything in the universe.

the balance of being just, man and woman, dunya and hereafter, thirst and water... etc....

life in the hereafter is never ending, life in this world 60-70 yrs
u multiply that by infinity and ratio is 0, so how a man of wisdom establishes his priority?
by preparing for it every second, u never know death will be waiting for u outside and yet u indulge urself in stupid laughs and talks, do not neglect this dunya and its affairs even those are important but at a certain level, dont go about crieng if u loose something or dying behind worldy passions.

I never said there will not be a hereafter.. I said I am not 100% sure that there will be one. Lets not get off topic.. What I am trying to let everyone know is to enjoy this life with everything being Halal and as well enjoy the hereafter. You dont want to waste this life ONLY by submitting to Allah while inside you are depressed, sad, and etc. Enjoy life, have fun, be happy in this life also, Allah gave you this beautiful world to enjoy and explore.

Its not like the Muslim is not enjoying his life....the happiness he feel is coming from his submission to Allah's well after all.
Muslim do enjoy her/his life but in a way that is not exaggerated to distract him from the main goal of his existence in this life.

I advise you to post any questions you have about the hereafter in the appropriate section to get your doubts cleared inshaAllah

hope ur enjoing and having fun aspects doesnt go against allah subhanawatalla's will, life is not only about having fun and enjoing nor is about being sad all the time, what we are asked for is not to be ignorant in anything we do, be modest and establish priority according to its size.

if you look at nature around you, and then in you own self youll relaise that you dont really fit in with the environment. the natural world is so organized an perfect, but humans are erratic, we have this conciousness and free will to choose to follow instinct or not.

i think this is enough proof for me that we have been created and there is something after this life.

if you just want to enjoy wordly life then your life is meaningless. doesnt this depress you? Allah would not leave us on earth without a purpose.

Give example of desire for this world...

If loving the nature...then of course that is islamic.
If you're saying trying to find lots of money... then to do what? and what about those who are poor? why not share?

Family, Love, Fulfilling goals, Changing/Creating a better future for the world, Travelling, Hobbies, Beach, Nature, Experiencing new things in life. The possibilities are endless.

Edit: I am also trying to start a business and make a lot of money. However I am not going to use the money for materialistic things, I am going to put the money back into the world to start businesses and create jobs for others. I will also donate and create social businesses. I love business, its a passion of mine.

then that is okay... thats not chasing the 'dunya' in islamic terms. However, in Islam we have to be more aware of the hereafter so that what ever we do is 'balance'.

There are many things to enjoy in this world. But, we must remember all of this world is just temporary and is only preparation for what is to come. Love and enjoy life, while staying aware that it is a fleeting moment and all material things are insignificant and only of value for the lessons we learn.
