Recently, I read about a near-death-experience of a blind woman, who made verifiable and correct observations [Ri 2], after having had an out-of-body-experience. At Long Island, the 70-years old blind woman specified very accurate and clear, what happened around her, when she was resuscitated after an heart attack. This woman has been blind since she was 18 years old. She was not only able to describe precisely the medical devices, but also their colour. These medical devices were not invented at the time, when that woman lost her eyesight about fifty years ago. Surprisingly, she even knew, that the physician had a blue suit, when he started the resuscitation [M 17].

How could one explain something like this? What's your opinion?

I don't really know. I will not say it's all lies, but let's say it's just hallucinations. This out-of-body stuff , I can't be sure it's a true death experience, may be she was just inconscious or sleeping. I mean no one has already knew what death looks like to say he has definitely passed a death experience. I can't be 100% convinced by that experience untill I have it myself.

Maybe its neither? It could be a sixth sense... or I guess a fifth sense in her case.

NDE does not prove the existence of the soul. Maybe something else made her see those things, not "soul."

Since we really do not know what NDE is, we can not say it is proof of anything.

hour can they cause delay, nor (an hour) can they advance (it in

anticipation).
(Al-Araf, Chapter #7, Verse #34)

During our appointed term, our hearing, our sight, our skins, our hearts,

our intellect will be accounted for as to our deeds. No Compulsion in

religion, We have the option to accept or to reject the signs of Allah.

(52) At length, when they reach the (Fire), their hearing, their sight,

and their skins will bear witness against them, as to (all) their deeds.
(Fussilat, Chapter #41, Verse #20)

(60) And We had firmly established them in a (prosperity and) power which

We have not given to you (ye Quraish!) and We had endowed them with

(faculties of) hearing, seeing, heart and intellect: but of no profit to

them were their (faculties of) hearing, sight, and heart and intellect,

when they went on rejecting the Signs of Allah. and they were

(completely) encircled by that which they used to mock at!
( Al-Ahqaf, Chapter #46, Verse #26)

AFter we being tested by evil and by good by way of trial we must return

to the Creator. Death is a departure of Rooh(soul) taken by Allah who

creates you.

(39) Every soul shall have a taste of death: and We test you by evil and

by good by way of trial. to Us must ye return.
(Al-Anbiya, Chapter #21, Verse #35)

35) It is Allah who creates you and takes your souls at death; and of you

there are some who are sent back to a feeble age, so that they know

nothing after having known (much): for Allah is All-Knowing,

All-Powerful.
( An-Nahl, Chapter #16, Verse #70)

Near-Death-Experience sounds awfully like a cancellation or a delay of

the actual death.

To those who do not believe the existence of the soul, this thought-experiment may prove the existence of

the soul.
Objects to have: a Big sharp needle, a normal person (alive), a-day old

dead man so he can still have flesh and bones...not just bones.

The experiment: stick the big, sharp needle into a normal person...the

estimated outcome, he or she should scream in pain. Do the same to a dead

person... the estimated outcome...silence...(if he screams, his death

certificate must be a fake).

What does this thought-experiment show? the life-person has the soul, the

dead man has none.

One may argues pain is a part of 'fight or flight' defense mechanism. the

source of pain needs blood circulations, nervous system etc to report to

the brain resulting 'screaming in pain". Since a dead person stops

circulating the blood...it is not a fair comparison...

Let's do the same experiment to a normal person VS a-day old comatose

man (he has not physically deteriorating that bad in a day).

A comatose man has the blood circulations still functions the same as

life-person...
Let stick the big, sharp needle into him... would he scream?

if there is only bio-chemistry,mechanical-physical aspect of a human

being then a comatose man should scream just like a normal life-person.
But the thought-experiment should show, there is more than that...
There exists a soul.

There is a soul for each life person even the comatose...but the soul of

a comatose man is in the 'failure state of being aware'.
How do we know he still possess the soul? Because he may come out of it

(awake) or expires his appointed term (soul departure/died)...
'The failure state of being aware' prevents a comatose person to scream.

I think it is neither choices.. there is so much the mind is capable of that we're not tapped into. The soul is a matter other worldly dreaming things or seeing things that come true is an independent factor from the soul..

and Allah swt knows best
