Hello - i have recently come back from doing umrah and now after coming back i have become somewhat depressed - I have been reading about sins and punishments of the hereafter and have become really stressed out -
I ask for forgiveness every time i read namaz

I want to know if the sins i have commited are major or not or if they can be forgiven
I have never commited adultry nor have i had a boyfrined but i have hung out with guys whilst at university and shook their hand and they have touched me but in non sexual ways (eg picked me up ), even though i knew this was worng i never knew it was the same as adultry - i feel really stressed out all the time and feel like crying and cant seem to concentrate on anything else

Also i used to have dreams which were sexual and intentional is this also considered adultry or can you have such dreams and thoughts??

please help me!!!

:sl: My sister it is good to have regret and sorrow over our sins but there should always be a balance.

The Prophet, Allah bless him and give him peace, said, "Every son of Adam is a sinner, and the best of sinners are those who repent."

Allah Most High created us and He knows our natures. He knows that we are weak and prone to error and sin. He knows that we are faced with temptations everyday of our lives.

Yet, He is the Most Merciful and the Most Clement. In the words of Allah the Most High, "Say: 'O my Servants who have transgressed against their souls! Despair not of the Mercy of Allah for Allah forgives all sins: for He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. Turn ye to our Lord (in repentance) and bow to His (Will), before the Penalty comes on you: after that ye shall not be helped." (Az-Zumar, 39:53-54)

Allah's mercy, compassion and forgiveness are all encompassing and his mercy is one of his most important and significant qualities of the almighty in the Qur’an, as well as in the saying and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh).

The Prophet also once said:

Allah, the Almighty, says: Whosoever does a good deed, will have (reward) ten times like it and I add more; and whosoever does an evil, will have the punishment like it or I will forgive (him); and whosoever approaches Me by one span, I will approach him by one cubit; and whosoever approaches Me by one cubit, I approach him by one fathom, and whosoever comes to Me walking, I go to him running; and whosoever meets Me with an earth-load of sins without associating anything with Me, I meet him with forgiveness like that. (Sahih Muslim)

Approximately 113 chapters of the Holy Qur’an begin with: "In the name of Allah the Most-Compassionate; the Most-Merciful".

This is a constant reminder to all who read the Qur’an of the great mercy, compassion and forgiveness of almighty Allah.

Indeed, no one despairs of relief from Allah except the disbelieving people. (Surah Yusuf 12:87)

One must be hopeful of Allahs mercy and forgiveness and fearful of His punishment. It is this fear that should lead one to seek Allahs forgiveness with hope. Allah says:

Know that Allah is severe in punishment and that Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. (Surat al-Maaidah 5:98)

In the above verse, Allah gives us reason to fear because His punishment is justly severe, as well as good reason to have hope, since He is the Most Forgiving and Merciful. There should be a balance between fear and hope and not too much or too less of one or the other. If there is too much fear, then a person may negate Allahs quality of mercy and ascribe to Him unkindness.

So do not despair my Sister for whatever wrongs you have done in the past or present as long as you leave the sin and repent sincerely with the intention NEVER to commit it again then Allah will forgive surely forgive you. It is also a part of faith that you have hope in his mercy but at the same time fear of his punishment therefore strike a balance between the two but know that:

In a Hadith Qudsi Allah states: "My mercy prevails over My wrath."

Also my sister you do not get any sins for having sexual dreams as one cannot control the dreams that they have but you should not put off marriage and should marry a pious Allah fearing man as soon as is possible. Ask of Allah sincerely and he will help you.

So my sister do as many good deeds as you can in order to please Allah and do your utmost to earn his pleasure and to be as close to him as possible.

All sins can be forgiven except for shirk (worshipping other gods etc). Just keep sincerely asking for forgiveness and stop all contact with guys who aren't mahram to you.

Adultary is when you're married and you have intercourse with someone who isn't your husband/wife. I think what you mean is zina - illegal sexual relations. You can be commiting zina of the eyes just by looking at someone dressed scantly, but this isn't actual zina and is knowhere near as bad so don't worry to much about it.

But what you got to realise is that you don't just stop these sins all of a sudden cause you think they're considered as 'adultary', you got to know that free mixing between men and woman aint allowed in the first place, touching, talking between them is all haraam. Now you're gonna have to build up alot of modesty, so that other guys shouldn't even think about talking to you let alone picking you up etc.

Allah says in surah Al Furqaan

Except those who repent and believe (in Islâmic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds, for those, Allâh will change their sins into good deeds, and Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful

Sister i suggest u read this great work by a classical scholar Ibn Rajab Al hanbali

THREE WAYS TO FORGIVENESS
please do read it
The three ways are 1- Hopeful supplication 2- Asking Allah for forgiveness 3- tawheed

http://www.authentictranslations.com...=at_irah_1.pdf

thats a direct link u could also find it on the e book on the main page of

www.authentictranslations.com its free for download and reading.

Also this is nice
A Sin That Leads to Jannah
Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullah) said:
“Sin may be more beneficial for a person, if it leads him to repent, than doing a lot of acts of worship. This is what is meant by the words of one of the salaf:

‘A person may commit a sin and enter Paradise because of it, or he may do an act of worship and enter Hell because of it.’
They said: ‘How is that?’

He said: ‘He may commit a sin and continues to think about it, and when he stands or sits or walks he remembers his sin, so he feels ashamed and repents and seeks forgiveness and regrets it, so that will be the means of his salvation.
And he may do a good deed and continue to think about it, and when he stands or sits or walks he remembers it and it fills him with self-admiration and pride, so it is the cause of his doom.
So the sin may be the factor that leads him to do acts of worship and good deeds and to change his attitude so that he fears Allah and feels shy before Him and feels humiliated before Him, hanging his head in shame and weeping with regret, seeking he forgiveness of his Lord. Each of these effects is better for a person than an act of worship that makes him feel proud and show off and look down on people. Undoubtedly this sin is better before Allah and is more likely to bring salvation than one who admires himself and looks down on others, and who thinks that he is doing Allah a favour. Even if he says words that indicate something other than that, Allah is the Witness over what is in his heart. Such a person may feel hatred towards people if they do not hold him in high esteem and humiliate themselves before him. If he were to examine himself honestly, he would see that clearly.”

Honestly asking for forgiveness and repenting is great FOR THE HEART AND FOR OUR EMAAN , so always keep asking and keep washing ur heart with the tears n making it soft.

So u have notthing t oworry about , ur past is past , if u sinned it can benefit u if u do teh right things now , if u repent n never go back Allah with all his love and mercy to u will actually change the sins into good deeds , hence making ur scale double heavy coz sins will not only disappear from the sins scale but they will be aded to the scales of good deeds , and yes it all depends on u , how firm u stay in ur repentance , and how sincere r u in asking forgiveness , this can be beginning of a beautiful , righeyous blessed life , the life Allah loves and wants for us , and InshaAllah Allah will love u , and InshahAllah u will eb among these mentioned in this beautiful hadeeth

Allah's Messenger, sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam, said:
"If Allah loves someone He calls (angel) Jibreel and says: I
love so-and-so, so you love him. Jibreel loves him, and calls
the other angels in Heaven to love that person. They love him,
then his love will be made upon earth, and he becomes loved.

"And if Allah hates someone He calls Jibreel and says: I hate
so-and-so and you hate him. Jibreel hates him and calls the
angels in Heaven and says: Allah hates so-and-so, so you all
hate him. They all hate him, and his hatred is made upon earth
and he becomes hated." - Muslim

Sister its only shirk ,

68. And those who invoke not any other ilâh (god) along with Allâh, nor kill such life as Allâh has forbidden, except for just cause, nor commit illegal sexual intercourse and whoever does this shall receive the punishment[].

69. The torment will be doubled to him on the Day of Resurrection, and he will abide therein in disgrace;

70. Except those who repent and believe (in Islâmic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds, for those, Allâh will change their sins into good deeds, and Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful[].

And the famous ayah , Allah does not forgive shirk being commited with him and He can forgive who ever else he wills

:sl: Allah can forgive Shirk if one left the shirk behind and repented sincerely before death comes upon them but if one continued with the shirk and did not leave it behind and then death came upon them then they will not be forgiven but if one died whilst committing any other major sin apart from shirk and they did not repent or ask for forgiveness then Allah may or may not forgive them that is upto Allah the most kind and compassionate for he is the best judge in all matters.

and Allah knows best in regards to all matters.

:sl: Allah may forgive ALL sins of anyone who repents sincerely during their life before their death. This is made clear in the following verse of the Qur'an:

Say: "O my Servants who have transgressed against their souls! Despair not of the Mercy of Allah. for Allah forgives all sins: for He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. Turn ye to our Lord (in repentance) and bow to His (Will), before the Penalty comes on you: after that ye shall not be helped. And follow the best of (the courses) revealed to you from your Lord, before the Penalty comes on you - of a sudden while ye perceive not!"

From the above verse we understand that Allah will forgive all of our sins if we repent before the coming of a "sudden penalty", which refers to death even Zina but that does not mean one can commit and sin they like and think that Allah will forgive them for they cannot decieve Almighty Allah and Allah only gives the ability to a person to ask for forgiveness if he wants to forgive them for if he wants to punish them then he does not give them the ability to repent.

and Allah knows best in all matters
