Most people hopefully remember the bombing of Gaza in January 09, and along side the massive loss of life was also serious damage to housing, factories etc. Now the problem is nobody can get any construction material into Gaza to rebuild as Israel won't allow it through, so many people have lived in tents for the past year. John Ging, the Director of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency told reporters in March 2010: ‘I have no cement or steel or iron. We can't get in one bag of cement, one pane of glass… to actually begin that reconstruction.’

Today I stumbled upon this fantastic effort by an organisation called 'The Free Gaza Movement' who will sail to Gaza by boat next month. They have raised money to buy some really nice boats, and they will be taking about 4 boats and will join with some more with construction supplies, books etc to take to Gaza. The point will be that they won't go through Israeli waters, and can go straight to the shores of Gaza.

The website of the group can be found here: http://www.freegaza.org/
Their most recent ship they bought for €70,000 at auction about a week or so, told here http://www.freegaza.org/en/home/56-n...p-from-ireland
Check out the photos of the boat, it looks pretty **** sweet!

They have done some previous sails before, some succesful and some being blocked by Israeli ships. Members of previous crew have included Nobel laureates, a US congress woman and others. Here's a story I quickly found on the website: http://www.freegaza.org/en/home/pres...l-never-forget
Through their work they now own Four vessels which they have purchased.

I'm not part of The Free Gaza Movement in anyway, but I donated a small amount and so am simply letting others who may wish to donate or follow the progress of the ships. I think its fantastic how something can grow just by the goodwill of people to something as great as this. If anyone would like to spread their work by telling friends, family, using social networks like twitter, facebook, emailing others, donating, posting on forums etc, I'm sure they would greatly appreciated, just as I hope some people will appreciate this post of mine.

Great post ! thx for sharing.
it's really a great effort they're doing, and it's amazing what we can do when we have a sincere cause. Hope them complete success and progress in this work.

The point will be that they won't go through Israeli waters, and can go straight to the shores of Gaza.
It will be be risky because Israel agression is not limited just in "Israeli" waters, Israel is always overruning palestinian waters and blocking sailors from Gaza. But I hope they succede in this heroic mission.

I think george galloway is planning it, it will be a big risk cause israeli terrorist soldiers won't think twice before shooting at them from gun boats, they've done it plenty of time to palestinians fishing way within their permitted waters
