As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh...

Bismilllah walhamdulillah wa salatu wa salam alaa rasoolillah.

I want to create this thread so we can talk write out the different blessings(Ni3ma) which we are blessed with..You can be specific or general. Even though Allah's blessings are infinite and cannot be counted..

And if you would count the graces of Allah, never could you be able to count them. Truly! Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. Sura an-Nahl 16:18

And He gave you of all that you asked for, and if you count the Blessings of Allah, never will you be able to count them. Verily! Man is indeed an extreme wrong-doer, - a disbeliever (an extreme ingrate, denies Allah's Blessings by disbelief, and by worshipping others besides Allah, and by disobeying Allah and His Prophet Muhammad SAW). Sura Ibrahim 14:34

I will start off with...our

5 fingers...How our five fingers suffices to hold an object and do our daily routines. It would be very difficult to eat and do necessary chores with 4 fingers etc.

Alhamdulillah for the blessings we can see and the ones we cannot see. Please write out more blessings that we have from Allah(subhana wa ta3la) :) Jazak'Allah khair!

JazakAllah Khair for creating this excellent thread. This is very much needed to increase our love of Allah and appreciation of His bounties on us.
Allah SubHanahu wa Ta'ala says:
وَأَمَّا بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثْ ﴿١١﴾ ـ
But the bounty of the Lord - rehearse and proclaim!

Let me also add here to this thread. This smiley :) which you have used in your post reminds me of the blessing of being able to "blink our eyes" and being able to "lift our eye lid" for seeing. Just imagine if Allah SubHanahu wa Ta'ala had not given us this ability, then how would we ever able to protect our eyes from all the dust and foreign materials?
And the blessing of being able to lift our eye lid for seeing, SubhanAllah! how great this blessing is! My neighbour related an incident about a wealthy trader back home who was afflicted with some kind of paralysis. After much treatment in his home country as well as in US and other foreign countries, all his muscle movements were restored, except that of the eye lid muscle. Now whenever he wants to see something or someone, he has to manually lift his eye lid and see. Alhamdulillahillazi 'aafani min-mabtalaahu bihi wa fadh-dhalani 'ala katheerin-min-man khalaqa tafdheela.

Subhanallaah, I never thought of that....indeed its a great blessing and something evolutionists should really think about.

The eye itself is one of the biggest blessings...imagine a life without eyes...completely in the dark.

Alhamdulillaahi Rabbil Aa'lameen

And what about our intellect and heart...something that distinguishes us from most of Allaah's creation.

^Yet we have the Deaf, Dumb & Blind in this world & dealing with them & getting to know the strength of their intellect is also a great blessing. So being *appreciative* to all of Allah (swt) creation is a blessing itself. Wallahu 'Alam.

The blessing of walking!
My brother once had to use crutches for a while, and it was difficult to walk around for him. Subhanallah, I tried it just for fun, but it wasnt..

we should also be appreciative for our brain and heart. The whole world is a blessing.

Amongst many great blessings of Allah SubHanahu wa Ta'ala on us is the limit that Allah has placed on our senses.

For example, Allah has given us the ability to hear sounds, but he has placed a limit on the range of frequencies that we can hear. Human ear can normally hear frequencies in the range of 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz. Just imagine if this limit was not placed by Allah, then what would have happened? There would be so much noise pollution that we wouldn't be able to have a normal conversation or take a nap. We would be hearing the zikr and tasbeeh of everything. The chair we sit on, the bed, the bricks of the wall, the doors, the locks, the keys, the keyboard, mouse, computer, monitor and the chips and ICs inside these gadgets and even the electrons revolving around the nucleus; each and everything is in constant zikr of Allah, SubHanahu wa Ta'ala, yet man is in negligence.

The seven heavens and the earth, and all beings therein, declare His glory: there is not a thing but celebrates His praise; And yet ye understand not how they declare His glory! Verily He is Oft-Forbear, Most Forgiving! [17:44]

What would have happened if we were to hear the tasbeeh of all these things? Allah with His infinite wisdom has muted these sounds to us.

And the worse part is, we would be hearing the sounds of the punishment of the grave.

Hadhrat Anas (radhiyallahu anhu) narrates that Nabi (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said: “If it was not for the fact that you would not bury (your dead), I would have supplicated to Allah to make you hear the punishment of the grave..” Narrated by Muslim.

The Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said, "When a human being is laid in his grave and his companions return and he even hears their footsteps, two angels come to him and make him sit and ask him: What did you used to say about this man, Muhammad? He will say: I testify that he is Allaah's slave and His Apostle. Then it will be said to him, 'Look at your place in the Hell-Fire. Allaah has changed for you a place in Paradise instead of it.' The Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) added, "The dead person will see both his places. But a non-believer or a hypocrite will say to the angels, 'I do not know, but I used to say what the people used to say! It will be said to him, 'neither did you know nor did you take the guidance (by reciting the Qur'aan).' Then he will be hit with an iron hammer between his ears, and he will cry and that cry will be heard by whatever approaches him except human beings and jinns." [Saheeh: Al-Bukhaaree (2/422), Muslim, Ahmad, Abu Daud, an-Nasaa.ee: from Anas.]

Similarly, Allah has also placed limitation on our sight, taste, smell, and also on our imagination and thoughts. Each and every limit has it's own benefit which Allah has placed with His infinite Wisdom. WalHamdulillahi Rabbil 'Alameen.

As mentioned above by a few members, the greatest blessing of Allah on us is the Ni'mah of Islam and Iman. Without Iman, we would also be living an astray life and without Islam we would be living a useless life. There would be no difference between a human and an animal, and there would be no morality, conscience and civilization.

Only on the basis of Iman, we will be able to pass all the tests of this life as well as the Hereafter. Only on the basis of Iman we will be saved from the punishment of the grave and terror of the Day of Judgement. Only on the basis of Iman, the Muslims who had to enter the Fire due to their sins will eventually be taken out and asked to enter the Paradise, the lowest level of which is greater than 10 times this earth. That will be the day when the non-Muslims, who died without reciting the Shahadah will wish that they should have also recited this Shahadah at least once in their lifetime. Allah says about them in Surah Al-Hijr:
Again and again will those who disbelieve, wish that they had bowed (to Allah's will) in Islam. [15:2]

Alhamdulillahi 'Ala Deenil Islam. The Sahabah used to gather in the Masjid and praise Allah for having led them to Islam.
Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Mu`awiyah (May Allah be pleased with him) came to an assembly in the mosque and asked them: "What has made you sit together?'' They replied, "We are sitting here to remember Allah.'' He said, "I adjure you by Allah to tell me whether nothing else has made you to sit together.'' They replied: "By Allah! We are sitting only to remember Allah.'' Then he said, "I did not adjure you because I suspected you. No one of my rank in the eyes of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) is the narrator of so few traditions as I am. The fact is that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) went out to a circle of his Companions and said, `What has made you sit there?' When they replied that they are sitting together to remember Allah and to praise Him for guiding them to Islam and bestowing favours on them, he (PBUH) said, `I adjure you by Allah to tell me that nothing else has made you sit together.' On their reply that there was certainly no other purpose, he (PBUH) said, `I did not adjure you because I suspected you, but Jibril (Gabriel) came to me and told me that Allah was talking proudly of you to the angels.'''
[Muslim].
Allah SubHanahu wa Ta'ala has completed his favours on us with completion of Islam. Allah says:
This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion. [5:3]

:wasalamex Akhi, Jazak'Allah khair! Indeed Islam and our Imaan is a great blessing that differs us from animals and the like.

Another blessing that we have in our body is the the way Allah(Subhana wa ta'alaa) structured our organs to stay in its place. We would not be able to live if our inner organs were not firm and strong in its place. What a great blessing! It is Allah who has the most knowledge about us since he is our creator. It is Allah who is closest to us but we see not.

And indeed We have created man, and We know what his ownself whispers to him. And We are nearer to him than his jugular vein (by Our Knowledge). Sura Qaf 50:16

Does not man remember that We created him before, while he was nothing? Sura Maryam 19:67

And it is He Who has created man from water, and has appointed for him kindred by blood, and kindred by marriage. And your Lord is Ever All-Powerful to do what He will. Sura al-Furqan 25:54

When something is dropped on the ground from a height, then it's potential energy is converted to kinetic energy.
Formula for Potential energy is: E = m x g x h
and for Kinetic Energy: E = (1/2) x m x v^2
where,
m = mass of the object,
g = acceleration due to gravity (9.8 m/s^2),
h = height of the object from ground
v = velocity

To calculate the velocity of the object when it reaches the ground, we can equate the 2 equations:
m x g x h = 0.5 x m x v^2

Re-arranging the terms and cancelling 'm' from both sides, we get:
v^2 = 2 x 9.8 x h

Now, if an object is dropped from a height of 1m, the velocity with which it should reach the ground should be:
v^2 = 2 x 9.8 x 1 = 19.6
v = sqrt(19.6) = 4.4 m/s

If we increase the height to 10m, the velocity would be:
v = sqrt(2 x 9.8 x 10) = 14 m/s

Similarly, if we keep on increasing the height, the velocity with which the object reaches the earth (or hits the ground) increases.

Now keeping this in mind, just look at the rain that Allah sends down on us from clouds. The average height of clouds is around 6 Km, that is 6,000m. If something is dropped from 6,000m height, then according to physics it should reach the ground with a speed of:
v = sqrt(2 x 9.8 x 6000) = 343 m/s = 1234.8 Km/hr

Anything hitting the ground with this speed will create deep holes and craters on the ground. But Allah SubHanahu wa Ta'ala sends down rain-drops from such heights with as low speed as 5-6 Km/hr. Imagine what would have happened if Allah had not placed friction in air that acts as brakes for these droplets of water and turns them into spherical shape? Imagine if all the water from the cloud fell down on us in one go - all at once. We all would have been crushed under the force this water and there wouldn't be anything recognizable left. The whole landscape would change and cities would be in ruins.

How can we begin to count the blessings of Allah swt?

Iduronate-2-sulfatase is required for the lysosomal degradation of heparan sulfate and dermatan sulfate if you don't have this enzyme not only are you physically not like everyone else, but you die a painful death (have developmental delays) and a very short life expectancy pharmaceutical companies will charge you up to $400,000 for a synthetic version of the missing enzyme Idursulfase, produced by recombinant DNA technology:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hunter_syndrome

this is (one enzyme) of the billions you have, everyone that is a potential miss is a potential life threatening condition.
Do we sit and ponder that?.. Thank you Oh Allah for my Iduronate-2-sulfatase, Thank you oh Allah for my N-acetylglucosamine-1-phosphate transferase, thank you for my GM2-AP, thank you for my
Sphingolipid activator proteins.. fact is 99.9% of us aren't even conscious that they exist or what functions they carry out or what happens if they are missing and how much we'd pay to be 'normal' and functioning like everyone else.. It is a tremendous tremendous feat to keep the human body functioning as it does.. and if you really knew the ins and outs of it you'd weep over the silly things we whine over when the gift of life and the gift of health is truly the exception and I don't know how to articulate that in more eloquent terms.

There is a wisdom in us looking at those less fortunate and a wisdom in understanding these aberrations for everything that could potentially go wrong, think of the billions that go right.. and on a different note, think of how absurd it is for 'nature' to bestow upon you cascades upon cascades of perfectly intricate systems all working on their own volition harmoniously so that we have no futile cycles for which we aren't even conscious.. sometimes I look at some kaffirs and I think sob7an Allah, each cell in their body obeys the commands of Allah swt. and yet they are sitting there with utter haughtiness and disdain denying the wonders of Allah!

We have different seasons such as summer, winter, spring,monsoon, fall etc.. It is a great blessing from Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala that he created these seasons and made it easy on us. Imagine if its winter all the time, or summer all the time. It would be so hard for us if there was only one type of climate. Indeed, Allah is the creator of the heavens and earths.

Yes, we would be bored to have the same climate every day. Allah has tilted the angle of earth's axial rotation by 23.5° that changes the climate and length of day throughout the year.

If there was no tilt in this axis, then the polar winds flowing from high pressure poles towards the low pressure equatorial region would have frozen the whole earth. It would have also lowered glaciation causing larger arctic and antarctic regions.

Allah SubHanahu wa Ta'ala has kept all the (atmospheric) conditions favourable for man. The earth is just as much away from the sun as man can tolerate. If it was a bit closer, we would have all roasted alive and if it was a bit further, we would have all frozen to death. ذَٰلِكَ تَقْدِيرُ الْعَزِيزِ الْعَلِيمِ that is the decree of (Him), the Exalted in Might, the All-Knowing.

SubhanAllah..truly Allah has control of everything. He has measured it without any defects.

Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala has created two different genders. Men and Women. Indeed Allah made these genders so different but still gave us a feeling that attracts each other. Verily that is a great blessing from Allah. Men are stronger than women in some fields but Allah has gave patience to women to bear a child and gave them strength. Oh Allah, we can not live a second without your blessings, and we say Alhamdulillah for the blessings we can see and the ones you have hidden from our eyes. :w:

Bism Allah AlRahman AlRaheem, Jazakum Allah khair for this excellent thread.
i would like to point out that out of all the great blessings of Allah, the greatest blessing is : ALLAH.
How beautiful is it to have Allah as our Lord, His perfect and Holy Divine self that we can grasp a notion from His 99 beautiful names ( which include the Magnificant, The Most Loving , The Guide, The Most Mercifull, The Forbearing, The All Mighty,,,,,) and how Glorified and Exalted He is that the Angels who He had created from light praise and glorify Him day and night withour fatigue. How He created the morning sunshine and raised the heavens above us and made from water every living thing. ( water being a colorless as its transparent, tasteless, smell less and containing no calories yet we are so in need of it)
He is perfect He is Glorious , He is The Light. May Allah lighten our hearts with His Love and make us from those He has guided to His right path.

Here is a beautiful hadeeth that will help gather us to grasp a feeling of some of that Divine beauty of Allah:

“O My servants, I have made oppression unlawful for Me and unlawful for you, so do not commit oppression against one another.

O My servants, all of you are liable to err except one whom I guide on the right path, so seek right guidance from Me so that I should direct you to the right path.

O My servants, all of you are hungry (needy) except one whom I feed, so beg food from Me, so that I may give that to you.

O My servants, all of you are bare (need clothes) except one whom I provide garments, so beg clothes from Me, so that I should clothe you.

O My servants, you commit error by night and day and I am there to pardon your sins, so beg pardon from Me so that I should grant you pardon.

O My servants, you can neither inflict on Me any harm nor can you grant me favours.

O My servants, even if the first amongst you and the last amongst you and even the whole of human race of yours, and that of jinns even, become (equal in) God-conscious like the heart of a single person amongst you, nothing would you add to My Power.

O My servants, even if the first amongst you and the last amongst you and the whole human race of yours and that of the jinns too in unison become the most wicked (all beating) like the heart of a single person, it would cause no loss to My Power.

O My servants, even if the first amongst you and the last amongst you and the whole human race of yours and that of jinns also all stand in one plain ground and you ask Me and I confer upon every person what he asks for, it would not in any way cause any loss to Me (even less) than that which is caused to the ocean by dipping the needle in it.

O My servants, I am recording these actions of yours, and I shall reckon them for you; so he who finds his record of deeds to be good should praise Allah, and he who finds other than that should not blame anyone but his own self.””
