heres a dilema for you:

Man wants to marry woman,
woman agrees in theory,
man take proposal,
womans family refuse based on trivial things.
what can be done?
any advice welcome.

try to convince the family yourself and/or get someone to speak to them on your behalf. prove to her family that you are want they want (i know that isn't the easiest thing to hear)

in the end if it doesn't work out, just accept it and try move on.

Asalaamu Alaikum Wr Wb, jazakallah khayran for sharing your issue with us. Firstly one should marry mainly for piety. One should of course have attraction but piety is what will benefit marriage partners most in marriage.

If she truly has piety then you should make isthikhara. If after making Isthikhara you recieve positive signs then you should go to her house with your family and discuss things from there. They would be most likely to listen if your elders and family were involved. If they still do not agree then you may consider getting a experienced and reliable and expereinced scholar involved and take things from there.

Remember whatever is best will happen. If it is not best for you to marry this girl then it will not happen so accept what is decreed and it may be that if you do not end up marrying her then it is far better for you because after marriage things would have got worse. But if you do then it is because it is best for you. So ask of Allah to do what is best then accept what is decreed after that.
