Before you ignore this, THINK! what would you do if someone picked you up and shoved you in a cell, continuously torturing you - but no one acknowledged it?
A single letter to these prisoners is a huge ray of light in their lives - think about it - why can we not even do just that?! is that how busy and occupied we are with life?
What is your reason for not wanting to write to YOUR oppressed brothers? Too busy yet have time to watch the World Cup and Wimbledon?
There is a list of 188 brothers in Guantanamo, so far we have 60 brothers being written to whereas a huge 128 brothers remain. We aim to complete these lettes and have them sent of by the 12th of June, ensuring that every single brother recieves a ray of light in the form of a letter. Please reply to the message if you are interested to take part in this noble cause.
Former Guantanamo prisoner and Al-Jazeera journalist, Sami Al-Hajj, said:
"There were very few moments in Guantanamo that would give us joy. One of those moments was when we received letters from our families; but we were even happier knowing that some - who we didn't even know - had written to us for no other reason than to show their support and care for us."
I will leave you with the following hadith:
Narrated 'Abdullah bin Umar: Allah's Apostle said, "A Muslim is a brother of another Muslim, so he should not oppress him, nor should he hand him over to an oppressor. Whoever fulfilled the needs of his brother, Allah will fulfill his needs; whoever brought his (Muslim) brother out of a discomfort, Allah will bring him out of the discomforts of the Day of Resurrection, and whoever screened a Muslim, Allah will screen him on the Day of Resurrection ." [Sahih Bukahri]
