:sl:brothers and sisters

do you feel these sites are any benefit at all such as youtube or paltalk even my space? do you really honestly benefit from it or do you find yourself chatting with people instead?

ive heard one or two sites are good for helping with your deen however i know there is lot of fitnah too.

do you yourself find any fitnah in it? do you become distracted? are you really concentrating on the deen or just wasting precious time.

id like to hear your opinions and how strongly you feel about it.

Lately i kinda feel sick using any site that has mixed gender. i just feel it aint right using them, i know there is mixed gender in this forum and id also like for this forum to get a little more strict too it might become more popular that way i feel.

since its islamic forum. the sisters should use the sisters section as much as possible and the brothers should to the same inshallah

i just want to give warning to all brothers and sisters to be careful inshallah

I think that these things are an excellent way to give dawah. But it seems one has to be cautious, like you said mixing and just chatting about nonsense.

There is a reason why this internet age and Islamic awareness have coincided. Not saying i know it but it's funny how all of sudden (8 years or so) people are reading about Islam and discussing it worldwide, when previously they didn't.

Maybe it's best to seek people/sites where people are curious. Over my lifetime i've heard many people raised Christian, but not practicing except at holiday time, say, "I believe in God, but ... (insert whatever reason here)"

Probably best to stay from people/sites, in which dawah only strengthens their hate of Islam.

And Allah knows best.

Some sites are great alhamdulillah. Others advertise themselves as "muslim/dawah" rooms but turn out to be the opposite. I have found great rooms on paltalk but you have to be wise and look for the right one. In the last year, since I have been using paltalk I have seen at LEAST 30 reverts alhamdulillah. A downpoint to using the internet is that you can't always follow up reverts and see how things are going.

Yes there is "free" mixing but the intention, inshallah, is not to flirt or find a husband/wife, it is to help our brothers and sisters with problems, but anything outside of that we need to be careful of.

Aslaamu`Alaayum. . .

I quite agree with you sis, there is a lot of wasting time on palltalk SubhaanAllaah, i mean when theres no Good/beneficial topic people just on about some uneccesary topic. and a lot of cursers and mockers of Islaam are there and there and some people who prefer to just give them dawah but some mockers speak like they know everything about Islam from A to z ,but on the good side some prefer to listen. So yeah to do Dawah and aware of the individual you giving dawah to someone who wants to listen to you then InshaAllaah i think its all good.

If your intention is only to give Dawah and give Lectures or play lectures and then that is all kool
But on the beneficial side of Palltalk the thing i liked is there are rooms where you can listen to lectures and theres no text playing i.e. people talking and distracting the listeners.

But yeah this is my onion :D, So feel free to disagree :)

of course you can join a site with the intention of doing good but how long will this intention last with the amount of fitnah? are we putting ourselves in danger zones.

when we have been warned strictly not to mix in the first place.

Da’wah via private chat
I hope that you could tell me of a specific way to make da’wah to the youth via chat, because I found that some of them respond. I hope that you can help me.

Praise be to Allaah. Entering chat rooms may lead to many evil consequences, hence we do not advise anyone to focus his concern and energy on that. Many of the youth have been tempted to use chat rooms to get to know girls, so it starts with da’wah and ends with becoming preoccupied with and tempted by these girls, and some of them have even committed fornication.
Our website has heard of many sad stories, some from girls who have repented, and some from the wives of some righteous men whose lives have been changed by these chat rooms.
Hence we think that this matter should be left to some daa’iyahs to carry out in an organized and collective fashion, because of the fear of evil consequences that start with chatting for the purpose of da’wah and end – usually – with evils that are not permitted in Islam, such as infatuation and what it leads to. The Shaytaan has ways that he follows with those whom he wishes to tempt, so we must beware of these things.
We appreciate your protective jealousy (gheerah) with regard to people’s falling into sin, and your keenness to call people to Allaah, but we would prefer you to direct your energies towards general writing on bulletin boards and delivering khutbahs and teaching in the mosques and in public places. This is more beneficial and is better for you – in sha Allaah – than using private chat for da’wah.
And Allaah knows best.

Wa Iyaaki ukhti,
for 1 i definetly do NOT reccomend Palltalk because we can all get caught up in the wrong, and thats just a warning, and Alhamdulilaah there are plenty of other ways out their to do dawah. So do NOT reccomend it to others either.
And some may disagree with me buts thats just their opinion, for some it may be easy to not WASTE time on their and for others its very EASY to waste precious time SubhaanAllaah. As its best to speak to people who have experience lol :-\ but yeah INDEEDY

May Allaah make it easy for you ukhtee, Ameen :)

Where I live free-mixing is common, and been online chatting for 10 years. Alhumdulillah, nothing happened sinful personally either online or real life. Since i'm a moderator on forum(s) and server I've come across pretty weird stuff, but it is usually by people who would be termed as lose. I don't know what to say because I don't see it as black or white. But i guess common sense is always good. Online it is difficult to know the person on the other side, don't give info that you might regret later. Real life don't meet alone, if there is physical attraction, giving into temptations can happen.

I've seen marriages happen both through real life and online, some work and some don't, again it is not black and white. But it is alway good to involve an elder(s), it keeps things respectable, decent, and commitment has more pressure in either case. Some men talk about marriage but they trick into sinful things and leave, so marriage is not marriage until the actual marriage happens; don't flirt even it seems like marriage will go through. Being careful is always good, and never forget Allah is always watching.
