Ramadan 2010


Ramadan is a most amazing time. It is the month in which the Quran was revealed, it is the month in which the Quran is read and heard by hundreds of millions of people, it is the month in which the Muslims fast, and it is ultimately the month in which Muslims across the world strive for good deeds. Amongst these good deeds must be to call to Allah subhana, to call to his religion and it is an opportunity to do this, that I wish to present to you.

2010 will see Mercy Mission launch a major Islamic awareness campaign across the UKs transport infrastructure. Engaging, billboards, buses, trains and stations, we will be seeking to encourage people to question their purpose of life and directing them to a website, where they can come and learn about Islam.

To add a twist to this campaign we are looking to recruit 10 brothers and 10 sisters to basically ride the tube on selected lines for the period of a week. Travelling in groups of five you will be asked simple to sit or stand together, holding up a book the cover of which we will brand to that of the website that is being promoted across the underground. You will not be asked to speak to anyone and not to one another, just to carry on all day on this route. We wish to add a level of mystery to the campaign, and should fellow passenger ask you about what your doing, you will be given some small cards, to share with them.

This is a key part of our campaign, and an effort to add a new dimension to the way we carry messages. We will be paying your fare for the days you travel, and as you could be reading the Quran or another text useful for you in making the most of your Ramadan it is the perfect way to discipline yourself in the beloved month.
