I did a little research on this guy.

He is lying about what he did in Iraq (he never left the base so could never have done the things he said) and is a wannabe politician for a fairly extremist socialist party here in the US. He is pushing his personal political agenda and throwing in a few lies to help himself out.

Powerful speech and has much truth to it. At least some US soldiers are questioning the eqaution of how bringing misery and death to a nation = democracy promotion

Regretablly USA has a long record of bringing misery and death to nations who do not obey its will, for example during the 1960s and 1970s Vietnam.

Heres another famous speech you might like. So relevant almost timeless.

Martin Luther King - His immortal Vietnam speech

obviously you are going to say that. :hmm:

show us this research then. if he was a soldier he would have had to do those things, every soldier have to follow orders.

what has he got to gain? and i must say he is very brave speaking out about the government like that, hes putting his life at risk to tell the truth

A good book called 'The Will To Resist: Soldiers Who Refuse To Fight in Iraq and Afghanistan' details the experiences of soldiers who refuse to serve. It shows that the ex-soldiers experiences and thoughts are not unique.

Dahr Jamail, author of Beyond the Green Zone, brings us inside the movement of military resistance to the occupation of Iraq.

the US project in Iraq has been condemned as illegal and unjust by a vibrant and vocal antiwar movement since before the invasion began. since 2006, a majority in the US has opposed the continuation of the occupation, and reported to pollsters that they believe the invasion was a mistake. But how do soldiers who carry out the occupation see the war?

Fragmented reports of battalions refusing orders, of active duty soldiers signing antiwar petitions, of individual soldiers refusing redeployment and taking public stand against the occupation have trickled into the mainstream reportage over the last 5 years. But how deep does the current resistance run? What makes soldiers deployed in Iraq decide to go AWOL, file for conscientious objector status, or even serve sentences in military prisons to avoind taking part in this unpopular engagment?

Dahr Jamails comprehensive study of todays military resisters sheds new light on the contours of dissent within the ranks of the worlds most powerful military, documenting the fight for justice inside the belly of the beast.

Notice his duties were IGS (Imagery Ground Station) and CGS (common Ground Station). That means his job was to analyze data. Also look at his citations. Not one of them has anything to do with combat.

If he was brave he would have reported what he was doing when he was doing it, not waiting until afterwards.

He also has plenty to gain. He is pushing a political agenda (communism) and these speeches are a tool for that.

Soldiers are only allowed to follow orders that are lawful. In other words if they follow orders that violate the law then they are still liable for breaking the law. Also he is not risking his life at all by making these speeches. I am not sure what gave you that idea.

Don't misunderstand me. I don't think that all American soldiers are angels who do no wrong. Nor do I think they all have their hands clean when it comes to the way many of them treated Iraqis. In fact far too many acted horribly.

There are other soldiers out there who did actually do reprehensible things and feel guilty about it. Listen to those soldiers, not these frauds who simply want publicity for their political party.

Give me a link because this is not enough to go by... sure this could belong to anybody. i am aware of frauds but i know an honest person when i see one.

And what i mean by hes putting his life at risk because you will find that any one who speaks out against government and tries to fight them, they find a way of shutting there mouths, they mysteriously disappear for years and years because they throw them in some secret prision where they torture them to death to keep them from opening there mouths as not to make sure nothing more wont slip out.

all you have to do is look back on all the history of america and all the mysterious assassinations.

america zionists are running this world its time you woke up and realised that.

and i'm sure there is a hell load more soldiers who went through the same thing but there afraid to speak out.

The US has a long history of people who speak out against the government with many leading long happy lives. The secret prisons and such sounds like something out of the X-files, not real life.

Plot? He is an open member of that political party and ran for office under their platform. It is no plot.

There are plenty of soldiers out there than can tell you first hand what really happened, the good and the bad. Some of them will even back up some of the horrible stories you want to believe of all the soldiers. I am just asking that you listen to them, not the frauds.

your point being? more Americans should be funneled to Iraq to ruin more infrastructure and kill more civilians?

I can never tell where your head or heart is but I think a good proctologist can extract it out of there!

your point being?
My point being that if you are going to listen to people then listen to people that are telling the truth.

I believe quite the opposite. I don't think the US should have ever gone there in the first place and should be leaving as soon as possible.

I can never tell where your head or heart is but I think a good proctologist can extract it out of there!
You often ascribe incorrect motives or thoughts to me and attack me for your misconceptions of what I am saying. Instead of assuming you know what I believe or what I stand for you should calmly ask me to clarify what you don't understand instead of slinging insults.

oh he is telling the truth.. you just don't like his brand of truth.. hence the very first thing you did was go for some character assassination!
Whatever he is, is in fact inconsequential. Most if not all politicians are liars.. just depends on what brand if lies appeal to your personal sensibilities!

all the best

No, it is more like you like his brand of lies so you attack me, who is pointing out the truth.

As I said already, if you are looking for instances of US troops committing horrible acts against Iraqis then you can find them. They happened, there is no denying that. I just ask that you find the ones that actually happened, not the ones made up by some guy with a political agenda.

As stated before you're simply politically naive or wish to be naive.. is every crime committed reported? let alone ones that echo of a corrupt regime that has invaded a country for absolutely no just cause? Give me a break mac.. again this sort of nonsense can be parroted to like minded individuals. I wouldn't have even cared to comment on this thread as one american soldier whether good or bad is utterly negligible to me were it not to highlight your persistent hypocrisy..

start with some character annihilation to the current admin and the one that preceded.. perhaps it would loan your objections some credence!
