What is your opinion on the mosque they are building a few blocks away from the World Trade Center site? I don't know what to think, really. On one hand, it's bring a better image of Islam, but on the other hand, I think it's like Germans building a culture center outside the Auschwitz museum or Israelis building a huge synagogue a few blocks away from Jenin.

how the hell can you compare this to the Germans and Auschwitz? the Germans ACTUALLY killed Jews at Auschwitz!

the perpetrators of 9-11 were NOT Muslims! Paul Wolfowitz, the architect, is in fact a Jew! others in the cabal are Richard Pearle, Dick Cheney and Don Rumsfeld, ie, the Project for a New American Century. don't believe the UTTER CRAP you read or see in the media!

That is true, but the story isn't complete; there's more in the picture than meets the eye. A number of intelligence organisations have a big role to play.

Your examples are confusing and misleading.

1) Nazi's killed Jews. Nazi's were Germans. Not all Germans killed Jews.
2) Zionists are killing and stealing. Zionists are mostly Israeli. Not all Israeli's kill and steal.
3) 9/11 is believed to be an act of terrorism. The terrorists are believed to be mostly Muslim. Not all Muslims were involved in 9/11.

Stop your generalizations and do some of those logic puzzles.

Difference is muslims never condoned that act, so by you even comparing it to the germans or israeli's you're calling muslims nazi's

and not all muslims believe it was just al-qaeda and muslims behind 9/11, like another member has said theres more to it than meets the eye

I think it is a good idea. There needs to be some balance here to remind future generations, this was not the "American Trade Center" it was not the "New York Trade Center" it was not a building owned or run by the US Government. It was called "The World Trade Center" for the simple reason the occupants, and owners were international and not of or representing any one country. There were businesses there owned and operated by Muslims. Before the world forgets, Muslims also died and sadly they are all but forgotten. There has to be something nearby to let future generations that this was an atrocity committed against all of the nations who had businesses housed there. What can be a better memory than a Mosque nearby?

Well let's see, the first amendment to the constitution protects the free exercise of religion. So why should there be a problem?

If the owners of the property want to build an Islamic Center with a mosque, it should be allowed. Government should not be in the business of restricting people from exercising their freedom of religion. I think that it should and will be allowed.

If anything, I think it would also allow for people to see that Islam is not a religion of terror. This would be an opportunity for moderate, mainstream Muslims to worship and perhaps practice outreach and duwah. And as I recall, a lot of Muslims were murdered in the 911 attack. This was an attack by a radical, evil group that is outside of the mainstream of Islam. I don't consider Al Qaeda as anything close to Islam.

As for the George Bush/Israel/Cheney conspiracy buffs...whatever. You give them more credit than they deserve. Let's not turn this into a debate about who can support the craziest internet conspiracy theory.

Long story short, the first amendment to the U.S. constitution allows for building a mosque near the World Trade Center site.

Peace.

Yes, it would show that Al Qaeda is not an organization of true Muslims. But you can understand where the opposition is coming from.

Because some oppose, it does not mean they are right. Unjust and erroneous opposition has to be faced and refuted. While the building of the Masjid should not be considered a symbol of opposition or an issue of who is right, the issues must be brought out into the open or over time, the views of the opposition will become accepted as being fact and truth.

This is not just an issue of rights, it is an issue of truth and integrity. We have lost members of our Ummah in that attack, we are also victims of the attack; we demand to let it be seen we wish this tragedy to have a symbol of peace replace what has become a symbol of hate.

I think the actual legal issue involved here has to do with the zoning ordinance. The old building was extremely old. They are deciding whether to require that it be an historic landmark or whether the new owners can build what they want (Islamic center with Masjid). If it gets past the landmark issue, I just don't see how they can restrict the owners with their use of the property.

Peace.

As-Salāmu `Alaykum (السلام عليكم):

The conspiracy theorist arguments usually combine facts and fiction and the common person discounts any valid statements. A example of truth and fiction being combined.

Illuminati (plural of Latin illuminatus, "enlightened") is a name that refers to several groups, both historical and modern, and both real and fictitious. Historically, it refers specifically to the Bavarian Illuminati, an Enlightenment-era secret society founded on May 1, 1776. In modern times it is also used to refer to a purported conspiratorial organization which acts as a shadowy "power behind the throne", allegedly controlling world affairs through present day governments and corporations, usually as a modern incarnation or continuation of the Bavarian Illuminati. In this context, Illuminati is often used in reference to a New World Order (NWO). Many conspiracy theorists believe the Illuminati are the masterminds behind events that will lead to the establishment of such a New World Order.

The movement was founded on May 1, 1776, in Ingolstadt (Upper Bavaria), by Jesuit-taught Adam Weishaupt (d. 1830), who was the first lay professor of canon law at the University of Ingolstadt. The movement was made up of freethinkers, as an offshoot of the Enlightenment. Writers at the time, such as Seth Payson, believed the movement represented a conspiracy to infiltrate and overthrow the governments of European states. Some writers, such as Augustin Barruel and John Robison, even claimed that the Illuminati were behind the French Revolution, a claim that Jean-Joseph Mounier dismissed in his 1801 book On the Influence Attributed to Philosophers, Free-Masons, and to the Illuminati on the Revolution of France.

The group's adherents were given the name "Illuminati", although they called themselves "Perfectibilists". The group has also been called the Illuminati Order and the Bavarian Illuminati, and the movement itself has been referred to as Illuminism (after illuminism). In 1777, Karl Theodor became ruler of Bavaria. He was a proponent of Enlightened Despotism and, in 1784, his government banned all secret societies, including the Illuminati.

During the period when the Illuminati was legally allowed to operate, many influential intellectuals and progressive politicians counted themselves as members, including Ferdinand of Brunswick and the diplomat Xavier von Zwack, who was number two in the operation and was found with much of the group's documentation when his home was searched. The Illuminati's members pledged obedience to their superiors, and were divided into three main classes, each with several degrees. The order had its branches in most countries of the European continent; it reportedly had around 2,000 members over the span of ten years. The organization had its attraction for literary men, such as Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Johann Gottfried Herder, and even for the reigning dukes of Gotha and Weimar. Weishaupt had modeled his group to some extent on Freemasonry, and many Illuminati chapters drew membership from existing Masonic lodges. Internal rupture and panic over succession preceded its downfall, which was effected by the Secular Edict made by the Bavarian government in 1785.

Writers such as Mark Dice, David Icke, Ryan Burke, Jüri Lina and Morgan Gricar have argued that the Bavarian Illuminati survived, possibly to this day. Many of these theories propose that world events are being controlled and manipulated by a secret society calling itself the Illuminati. Conspiracy theorists have claimed that many notable people were or are members of the Illuminati, including Winston Churchill, the Bush family, Barack Obama, the Rothschild family, David Rockefeller and Zbigniew Brzezinski.

In addition to the shadowy and secret organization, several modern fraternal groups claim to be the "heirs" of the Bavarian Illuminati and have openly used the name "Illuminati" in founding their own rites. Some, such as the multiple groups that call themselves some variation on "The Illuminati Order" use the name directly in the name of their organization, while others, such as the Ordo Templi Orientis, use the name as a grade of initiation within their organization.

Many conspiracy theorist think anyone in power manipulates the outcome against whatever they believe.

Muslims are not exempt from conspiracy theories.

They're gonna build it. Maybe on the 9/11 anniversary, the imam could make speech condemning terror and expressing condolences to the families. That'll probably put some of the protesters at ease.

it's going to be built. Even mayor Michael Bloomberg supports it and going against the ADF is risky for politicians.
