I have a question. What is the specialty of Eid? I know it's the time for praying, end of Ramadan, etc... But what makes your Eid unique?
For me, it feels sort of like a normal day, lol.
I'm sure there's more to it than presents and such.

Salaam Alaykum
today young people get what they want or did not even want and need throughtout the year. May be , that's the reason they don't find Eid special.
When I was a kid , normally we used to get new clothes and money only on Eid days and birthday.

Special food for Eid-ul Fitr in Indonesia and Malaysia, ...... Ketupat..... Rice that cooked in coconut leaves.
In Java island usually we eat ketupat with chicken opor.

^ I like how you classified "not fasting" and "eating" as two different things.
It's more than gifts I'm sure.

In Indonesia it is most definitely the food.
The types of "lebaran" (eid) food are those that are superbly yummy but are super extremely heavy on cholesterols that you can only eat once a year if you don't want to get heart attack.
