Continuing Guest Fellow's request that non-Muslims interact with Muslims in threads that aren't just about debating.

I was really looking forward to one aspect of this weekend, on Saturday we had our on-snow clinic for instructors at the ski hill where I sometimes work. It was just machine made snow, and none of it had been groomed, but it was still fun to get back on skis.

Then over night the real stuff came down in one of the bigger storms to pass this way in several years. We only got a couple of inches at home, but not far from here they had as much as 6 inches. While that's nothing for those who live in the north, we're down here in southern Illinois and sometimes don't see that much in an entire year.

I have to admit it had me as giddy as a child wanting to play in it. Can't wait till we official open the ski hill this next weekend.

I read pages and pages of notes. I study throughout the week, so nothing special occurs during the weekend. I read my criminal litigation book and made notes. I read chapters on funding criminal cases, bail applications and appeals. It is dull work and there is a lot of content to cover. So, the weekend was boring.

So, you are studying law. What type of practice do you hope to have?

I'm not taking the traditional route. This alternative route is available for those who are unable to afford the course fees and do not wish to take out a loan. The disadvantage is I will have to wait longer to qualify as a Solicitor but I'm patient and there's no debt involved. I would like to specialise in Probate Practice.

Is watching boxing big with Muslims? That is what three people in the thread were watching right? (Pardon my ignorance of the names listed!) I've never once watched boxing.

This past weekend we celebrated Christmas for the kids and my younger son's birthday. We went bowling, out to eat, opened gifts, did some grocery shopping, went to church, etc. This kids enjoyed it and were all tuckered out by Sunday night.

Both Saturday and Sunday I went out at daybreak to feed and water the horses. Wind chill on both mornings was near 30 below zero. Had to fix a few fences that I had strung too tight and they broke when the cold caused them to contract. Spent the remainder of both days trying to thaw out. Good part is today warmed up and the temperature actually got up into the teens.

Every have one of those mornings when it is so cold your car wont start. This weekend I couldn't get the horses to start. Here is poor frost covered Blaze:

Its really difficult to study in the weekends though we have to :D. Last weekend we went to a auditorium were muslims were giving free copys of quran to the muslims and non-muslims .Our family went there it was a kind of lecture about quran and I understood less than half of the speech because the other half was in another language ( which I don't know ). I was just no I thought it is an English lecture imsad. We took some copies of quran with translation. I mostly like to have some nice food with my family on weekends :sunny:. It so boring when my sisters have some work and they go for doing it :mmokay:.

Friday I treated my wife by taking her to a Mannheim Steamroller concert to celebrate her birthday. I know, very haram stuff were we Muslims. Almost completely instrumental, but at least no bad lyrics then. :hiding: It really is her very favorite. And if you can listen to it, they have some of the neatest instrumentation. It's not just classic instruments, but they use lots of things that you might not have even considered to be an instrument, like coconut shells on a block of wood, till they use them to make music.

I spent Saturday at the ski hill where I am a part-time instructor. It was our second day open. Can't believe the quality and amount of snow we had for opening day. Not being out west, we're not likely to get any really big dry powder snows. And with the temperatures and the grooming being about perfect this last week, it just might be the best snow we will have all season. Made for some truly fantastic skiing and a lot of fun.

This Sunday morning the children presented a special program during our morning worship service. It wasn't that long ago that we didn't have any children in the church. And now the front couple of rows are filled with them. Truly a joyful time.

Salaam

Hmmm nothing too exciting to report. I went to work in the evening, finished preparing for my World War 2 talk and currently reading two books - 'Wickedness' by Mary Midgley and 'The art of the Samurai' - Yamamoto Tsunetomos Hagakure.

Apart from that nothing much.
