ADVICE TO THE MUSLIMS IN THE WEST
Shaykh Abdul-Azeez Aal Ashaykh

This was a lecture broadcasted through albaseerah.org on Saturday 25, 2006/ 1427H from Saudi Arabia

Translated by: Abu AbdulMalik Marwan Ibn AbdulMola - 2006/1427H

In the name of Allah, most Gracious, most Compassionate

All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. May the prayer, peace and blessings be upon the honorable prophet and the honorable Messenger, our prophet Muhammad, his family, and all of his companions. And those who follow them with good until the Day of Judgment

To proceed

My brother Muslims in the United States, Asalamu Alaikum Warahmato Allah Wabarkatoh, I ask Allah for me and you the accomplishment, achievement and help for all good. Verily this is from the success of Allah, that we are brought together with our brothers today over the telephone from these lands that are far apart but the hearts that are very close and the ideology that is one. I give you the order and advice you to fear Allah, this is an order and an advice that is ongoing and everlasting. This has been sent to the first and to the last as Allah gives this order in his Book

"And verily, We have recommended to the people of the Scripture before you, and to you (O Muslims) that you (all) fear Allâh"

This is a blessing that Allah grants the slave the success that he has the taqwa (fear of Allah). It is a blessing from Allah, as Allah said

"Is he whose breast Allâh has opened to Islâm, so that he is in light from His Lord (as he who is non-Muslim)"? (Az-Zumar 39:22)

He sees the truth to be truth and the falsehood to be falsehood; he is one that has accepted Islam, made the choice to become a Muslim from complete certainty. He has loved Islam, he was brought to Islam through this and he loved it, worked in its path, applying its laws and through it he became an honorable person. Verily the Honor is for Allah, his messenger and the believers, but the hypocrites know not

So this person from the sign of his Islam is his love for Islam and from the signs of his love for Islam is that he is upright upon Islam. He is a person that has believed in Allah, his Messengers, his angels, his books and the rest of pillars of Iman (faith). He understands them, accepts them and believes in them. If Allah has guided a slave from his slaves to this understanding, to this love, then he should thank Allah, for this is a great blessing from Allah upon him. As Allah said

"You are the best of the nations raised up for (the benefit of) men; you enjoin what is right and forbid the wrong and believe in Allah" ( 3:110)

This Muslim has accepted Islam, he has made the choice upon complete certainty that this is the truth and it is the path to Allah, the path to joy and happiness, the path to paradise of Allah. So this Muslim, again, he is one who has accepted Islam and (is) certain about it. He has proved it to himself, loves it (Islam), and loves its people

*I order you to preserve the prayer, making the five prayers that are ordered on time in congregation, making the Wudu (ablution) concerning it, preserving these things, upholding the obligatory parts of the prayer, its pillars, and increasing in voluntary prayer (nawafil)

Note: Here, the sheikh stopped for the purpose of translation, then after that he continued on saying

Preserve your prayer, protect your prayer, make sure for the men that they do the prayer in congregation. Make sure you uphold its obligations, its foundations, and its pillars. Make sure you are doing the voluntary, the extra prayers. And when you pray, pray the prayer of the one who is truly preserving his salah (prayer), the one who is upright upon it

My brothers, raise your children correctly, raise them upon the good, raise them upon the fear of Allah, upon upholding the salah and upon the rest of the other things Allah ordered us with. Raise them correctly and be for them a "Role Model" a guide, so that they can look toward. Raise them upon Islam and its correct understanding, and raise them upon Iman (faith). Make Islam apparent with its goodness, the Islam that is correct, the Islam that is upright, the Islam that is medium (just), the Islam that shows mercy, the Islam that is just, the Islam that has ordered us with all that is good. As Allah said to his Messenger

And We have sent you (O Muhammad SAW) not but as a mercy for the 'Alamîn (mankind, jinns and all that exists). (Al-Anbiya 21:107)

Our religion calls us that, BE: a person of righteousness, a person that is good to the parents, a person that is trustworthy, a person that is honest, a person that upholds the salah. Be a person that is generous, be a person that doesn't lie, nor does he cheat, nor does he deceive. Be a person that is correct in his manners

Be together O Muslims, hold each other's hands and go forward, help each other in that which is righteous and good. Be together as one, Help each other upon piety, goodness and the fear of Allah and do not help each other in that which is evil and harmful. The believers are one body. So O believers, be like that one body if one part of it is hurt, the rest of the body stays up at night in pain and fever. Be from the people who are like one wall, hold together as one

Our religion calls us to be from the people that are the slaves of Allah and that we stay away from tyranny, we stay a way from oppression; we stay away from the things that are not upon the truth. And that we be from the people that are upon the truth. We be from the people that preserve the wealth, and preserve the honor of each other, that we are believers truly with each other. This way, you can go forward in calling to that which is righteous, calling to that which will take away the shirk (polytheism), disbelief, misguidance. Be from the scholars that call to singling Allah alone in worship, help each other upon goodness, be one hand, be one person, as Allah said

"Help you one another in AlBirr and AtTaqwa (virtue, righteousness and piety); but do not help one another in sin and transgression. (Al-Ma'idah 5:2)

I ask Allah to grant us success to all that he loves, accepts, and that he guides us to the straight path and that he keeps us upright upon it

This was the end of the advice
