12 Ways We Can Maximise Our Worship Each Day

Unfortunatley many of us waste a lot of time each day not gaining anything out of it. We lack structure and our days go without us feeling that we achieved much. We ;ack any substance and proper balance in our lives. This results in us wasting years and even decades of our lives, only realising once a significant amount of our time has already gone. Therefore the time to rectify this situation is to act now as there may not be a tomorrow! The seconds that we are wasting everyday will never be regained again for they are gone for eternity!

So we must try to prioritise what is most important to us in our daily lives and what will benefit us in the long term which is the hereafter. We are here to prepare for our final destination so it only makes sense that we spend each day doing as much as we possibly can to invest into our hereafter and please Allah. We must try to achieve a good balance in our lives so that we are fulfilling our daily duties like work, study, care for family etc as well as put in time and effort into the worship of Allah.

It only makes sense that if the Hereafter is for eternity and this world is for only a very short while then surely it makes logical sense to put more in much more investment into that which will last forever which is the Hereafter rather than into this life which can end at any second. Therefore we must live for the Hereafter and to serve Allah and with the right intentions even our daily tasks like work, study etc can become worship.

So what we can do to try and maximise each day is to do everything we can to please Allah and refrain from anything which angers or displeases him. To do this we can draw up a daily plan for ourselves either on paper, or on computer in the form of a table with columns, rows, or even with points however you will is best for you. This plan will include realistic targets and aims we hope to achieve on a daily basis in terms of health, worship, and daily duties and tasks.

These aims and targets need to make sure it is realistic so we can stick to it and not disregard it after a few days. This plan will also add structure to our day and in it we can also include limits and targets which we can try and achieve each day.

Here is what we can include in our daily plan:

1. In this plan we should include what our daily duties are like work, study etc. If you are studying then put in the times you are at school/college or University. If you are working then put in your work hours. Include in this plan for example how much studying you will do etc.

2. If we analyse our day properly then we will realise that there are many things we are doing which are not benefiting us and which need to be either stopped immediatley or at least limited. This can include limiting time spent watching T.V, watching movies, dramas, internet, video games and other things which are of no real benefit to us in this world or the next.

We should analyse how much time we are wasting everyday and if we were to times that by a week or even a month and a year then we will realise that in the long term we are wasting a significant amount of time on that which will not benefit us in this world or the next.

Therefore we should eradicate the things which waste our time or at least put very strict time limits on them in the daily plan for example how long we will spend each day watching TV, browsing on the internet, facebook, amount of time playing video games and other wasteful activities etc.

We need to put in realistic time limits on these things and be firm in sticking to the limits set. We need to push ourselves to achieve the daily time limits and realise that we cannot waste anymore of our time on these things and that we need to get a grip of ourselves before anymore of our precious time is wasted.

3. Include in the daily plan the amount of worship that you aim to do each day. Again this should be realistic enough for you to do consistantly each day. It is best to build up the amount of worship we do daily slowly and gradually rather than a big jump from little to a lot of worship straight away. We must set targets which will gradually lead to an increase of our daily worship.

4. Include in the daily plan how much Qur'an you aim to recite each day. For example one juz, half a juz or even one page:

The Virtues of the Qur'an: http://www.islamicboard.com/quran/13...ues-quran.html

5. In regards to prayers then men must pray all 5 Fard (obligatory) prayers at the Masjid. Prayers for men at the Masjid are rewarded many times more than if prayed at home. Wudu should be done at home and then one should try and set off by foot as every step to the Masjid is rewarded. If the masjid is too far then one can drive. Sunnah's and nafils can be prayed at home.

Women get the same reward for praying their Fard Salaah at home. The more prostrations a person does in their life, the more closer to Allah they will become and more reward they will gain in the hereafter. The more Salaah we do the more it enables us to make much dua to Allah. We should spend a little while each day whenever it suits us best to make long dua's to Allah asking of his mercy, repenting to him and thanking him. The best time to do this is Tahajjud time in the latter part of the night or if one will not wake up for Tahajjud time then before sleep, after Fajr whenever it suits one best.

All the Sunnah's should be prayed aswell as Nafils. One can add in the daily plan how many Nafils one will try to pray each day like for eg. Salaatul Duhaa, Salaatul Tahajjud etc:

VERY Rewarding Nafl Salaahs we can Pray Everyday: http://www.islamicboard.com/worship-...-everyday.html

6. Also increase the amount of Dhikrullah (remembrance of Allah) one does each day. The more we remember Allah the more Allah remembers us and the more our imaan will increase. We should contemplate and ponder over the greatness of Allah and his creations. We should also spend a little time each day thinking of death and the Hereafter.

Dhikr will bring much peace and blessings into our hearts and in our lives. It has too many benefits to list and remembering Allah as much as possible each day is one thing we must try our best to do as much as we can. In the hereafter we will regret the seconds we wasted without remembering Allah! So let us increase in remembering Allah.

So set yourself realistic targets of how much Dhikr you will try to do each day for example 1000 Dhikr or 500. Or a certain amount doing Dhikr like 1 hour, 30 minutes etc:

Easy Dhikr which is light on the tongue but heavy on the scales!: http://www.islamicboard.com/manners-...vy-scales.html

7. We should also increase ourselves in learning Islamic knowledge because it is the best of all worship. We should understand what Allah is telling us in the Qur'an and act upon it. We should learn about the life of our beloved Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and also implement his Sunnah and teachings into our lives. We should also learn about the hereafter and othr aspects of our faith and belief which are important to us.

So include in the daily plan how much knowledge you will try to gain each day like listening to one Islamic lecture a day or how many pages you will try to read like a page or two of Qur'an translation or biography of the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) etc

8. Also include that you will try and learn and implement at least one Sunnah a day into your daily life for what better way to live everyday than to live everyday like our beloved Prophet (Sallalahu Alaihi Wasallam): Beautiful Sunnah's To Do Everyday:

http://www.islamicboard.com/general/...our-lives.html

9. We should also try and learn as much of the Qur'an as we can especially if a person is young because it gets harder the older one gets. We should try and have as much of the Qur'an in our hearts as possible. So set yourself a realistic target for example that you will learn at least one Ayah a day of the Qur'an. Also include in the plan that you will learn at least one dua a day: Fortress of the Muslim:

http://www.islamicbulletin.org/free_...f_a_muslim.pdf

10. Set yourself targets of how you can better yourself as a person like for example, reduce swearing, lying, helping parents more, improving manners, thinking good about others etc. We should always be trying to better ourselves and improve our conduct, behaviour, characters etc.

We should try and begin with a characterisitic which is most worst about us and work on it to eradicate it from ourselves. When we have succeeded in eradicating it and then we can move on to the next worst characteristic. Then we should keep at it until we have eradicated that bad characteristic. This should be an ongoing process until the end of ones life.

11. You can also include health plans like for example you will eat certain types of healthy foods or give up certain foods or habits which are not healthy. Also include the amount of excercise one aims to to daily or weekly like jogging or cycling 30 or 45 mins a day or gym 4 tiems a week, swimming once a week etc

12. Finally make a habit of reviewing yourself and what you have done or achieved in your day at the end of each evening. This should be a time of reflection so one can try and analyse what one is doing right or what one is doing wrong so that whatever one is doing wrong can be corrected and eradicated from ones daily life. Then write down how you can improve yourself tomorrow and what steps you can take to do so etc.

It is crucial one makes a plan which is realistic and the targets are achievable as we know ourselves and what we think we can achieve but one should also try to push oneself a little to try and achieve more and get the most out of the day.

Remember: Allah loves consistency so even if the good deed is small but you do it everyday then it is better than doing a big good deed sometimes.

When we have created our plan then it can be ammended and changed to suit yourself and what is realistic for you. It is a tailor made plan. So when the plan is done then we must internalise in our minds that we need to committ ourselves to Allah that we will fulfill this plan in order that we can maximise each and everyday and make the best of it doing everything in our daily lives to please Allah and refraining from anything that angers or displeases him.

Hope that helped inshallah. These two threads will also help you to make your daily plan which will benefit your health aswell as maximise the amount of worship you do everyday so that you may please Allah and get closer to him:

Dhikr does wonders. Never underestimate how powerful Dhikrullah is. When you are sad, down, frustrated, stressed, just focus your heart and mind and say few Dhikr, you'll be transformed in an instant. Dhikr with a present heart and mind is a medicine, nutrition for the mind, body and soul.

O Allah! Assist us in remembering You, in thanking You and in worshipping You in the best of manners. Ameen!

Abu Dardaa (RA) said:

"If you knew what I know, you would go out to the jungle, weeping and crying and leave your property unguarded. But your hearts are heedless of the requirements of the Hereafter and you have, before you, worldly hopes and aspirations. That is why the world has become your master and all your activities are directed towards it; you have reduced yourself to a condition of stark ignorance. What is worse, some of you have become like the animals, indulging in lustful activities, not minding the evil consequences."

No concern but Allah alone

Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: “When a person spends his entire day with no other concern but Allaah alone, Allaah, may He be glorified, will take care of all his needs and take care of all that is worrying him; He will empty his heart so that it will be filled only with love for Him, free his tongue so that it will speak only in remembrance of Him (dhikr) and cause all his faculties to work only in obedience to Him. But if a person spends his entire day with no other concern but this world, Allaah will make him bear its distress, anxiety and pain; He will leave him to sort himself out, and cause his heart to be distracted from the love of Allaah towards the love of some created being, cause his tongue to speak only in remembering people instead of remembering Allaah, and cause him to use his talents and energy in obeying and serving them. So he will strive hard, labouring like some work-animal, to serve something other than Allaah… Everyone who turns away from being a true slave of Allaah and obeying Him and loving Him will be burdened with servitude, love and obedience to some created being.

Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): ‘And whosoever turns away (blinds himself) from the remembrance of the Most Beneficent (Allaah), We appoint for him a shaytaan (devil) to be a qareen (intimate companion) to him.’ [al-Zukhruf 43:36].”

Al-Hasan Al-Basrî – Allah have mercy on him – said:

The good of this world is knowledge and worship, and the good of the hereafter is Paradise.

Al-Âjurrî in Akhlâq Al-’Ulamâ’ no. 30 and Ibn Jarîr in his Tafsîr of this verse.

Scholars of tafsîr like Ibn Jarîr and Ibn Kathîr point out that ‘the good of this world’ is general and includes all those things which have been allowed for us to enjoy and which are considered useful by people for day-to-day living. And they point out that above this; the good of this world includes those things which will lead to success in the hereafter. This narration reminds us of these loftier things we should ask Allah for, and that the good of this life embraces what is required or recommended for a worshipper of Allah to acquire on this Earth, like knowledge of his religion and good deeds.
