How do you know your prayers were not answered? Just because you did not get what you wanted. Sometimes, in fact many times not getting what we wanted is the best answer for our prayers.

Wa Alaaykum As-salaam

Agree with Woodrow. How do you know they'e not being accepted? You dont know that Allaah may be testing your patience, Allaah knows if its best for you now or not. Do we ask Allaah only when we want something? what about when we dont want anything? Meaning we are granted with so many blessings of his Allmighty, do we thank him for that before we start asking for more?

Indeed Allaah promises you he listens to every Duaa, yet he knows what is best for you and what is not, yet he is the one who has the ability to take away from one of what he wills or grant of what he wills, and that of which benefits that individual.
The truth is you will get what you want if you do your part and then Allaah your creator rewards those.

Many questions should come to our minds, are we asking Allaah to grant us with we want to become closer to him Allmighty? or just for our desire?

peace

prayers are always accepted bcz ALLAH SWt is KARIM...but we dont know He is HAKIM also, mean one with wisdom. since we are creatures with limited wisdom, we start thinking that our prayers are not accepted, but actually maybe what we asking is not beneficial for us, so ALLAH SWT always listen us but He is one with Wisdom, He give us which is best for us.
also note, allah swt always accept prayers but in 3 ways.
1. by giving the same thing what we are asking, soon or late.
2. by giving some alternate, in the case what we are asking is not good for us.
3. by accepting this pray and keep its reward upto ahra. in one hadith it is said that there will be a person and he will find too much rewards in ahraa however he had not done that much good deeds in dunia. so he ask ALLAH SWT y so much rewards are given to me. ALLAH SWT says; u pray that time in dunia and i didn't give u that things, however i had accepted ur prayer that time and i keep that reward for u in alternate. its is said that, by seeing these rewards that person wished in dunia he will not given anything for his prayer.

:sl:

Many times, I asked Allah for very specific things. And I made constant prayers for such a long time.
And then one day I was just reflecting on other areas of my life, and suddenly it dawned on me that the prayers that I'd made had been, not only answered but multiplied in blessings. I did not get exactly what I had made in mind and in the particular time, but what I got was something more subtle and in over time, and addressed not only specific problem that I had but also many areas in my life.

So please be patient, and trust Allah to give you the best, NEVER EVER had negative thought about Allah, be preserverance (in ibada), and one day you will be surprised to finally realize that all your prayers have been answered, and more!

Asalaamu Alaikum, Islam explains that all of our prayers are answered. Answering is one thing, to accept is something quite different. Every supplication is answered, but its being accepted and exactly what was sought being given is dependent on Almighty Allah's wisdom. For example, if a sick child calls the doctor, saying: “Doctor! Doctor!”, and he replies: “Here I am, what do you want?”, and the child says: “Give me that medicine!”, the doctor will either give him exactly what he asks for or something better and more beneficial for him. Or knowing that medicine is harmful for his illness, he will give him nothing. Thus, since Almighty Allah is all-present and all-seeing, He responds to the supplications of His servants. Through His presence and response, He transforms the desolation of loneliness and solitude into familiarity. But He does this, not in accordance with man’s capricious and importunate demands, but in accordance with the requirements of dominical wisdom; He gives either what is sought or what is better than it, or He gives nothing at all. Yet, in this last situation, Allah will give the best of everything to His servant in the hereafter.

As for worship and servitude to God, it should be purely and sincerely for Allah's sake. Man should only proclaim his impotence and seek refuge with Him through supplication, he should not interfere in His dominicality. He should leave the taking of measures to Him and rely on His wisdom. He should not accuse His Mercy.

The greatest mistake people make about prayers is to cease praying because of the concern that the prayer won't be answered. This is, in many ways, a flawed, and even ignorant, attitude. We must first make it clear that the answer of a prayer is not necessarily the "exact answer" one expects. As stated above, one may ask for something that is detrimental. This verse makes this point clear: "Man prays for evil just as he prays for good. Man is prone to be impetuous." (Surat al-Isra: 11)

The reason a person may not receive an answer straight after their prayers or may receive an answer in a different form, is a test from Allah. Allah may well give those blessings at the end of a certain period for a particular purpose, to put His servants' patience to test, for instance, or to make them attain a more perfected faith.

Other verses read , "... He Who responds to the oppressed when they call on Him..." (Surat an-Naml: 61). This verse reinforces the fact that Allah answers all sincere prayers.

Consequently, one must supplicate with a firm assurance of Allah's help. The contrary, that is, having doubts about whether Allah will answer one's call, is from the outset an attitude converse to the Qur'anic rationale. Our Prophet's (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) hadith "one should beg one's Lord with a will and full devotion, for there is nothing in the eye of Allah which He cannot grant." (Muslim) also points to that fact.

So do not lose hope even thoug you may feel your prayers are not being answered when in fact Allah is either testing your patience to see if you will continue to ask of him and worship him or will you question him and go further away from him. On the day of judgement one who had many of his prayers in the world not answered will stand before Allah and be shown MOUNTAINS of good deeds. That person will think that he does not rememebr doing that many good deeds.

When he asks Allah how he earnt so many good deeds then he will be told by the Almighty that these are the rewards of all of the prayers that were left unanswered in the world and that the reward of those unanswered prayers will benefit him FOREVER. That person will then wish that NONE of his prayers were ever accepted just so that he can gain these huge rewards and therefore benefit forever rather than just for a temporary time in this world.

So let us all be hopeful of gaining unimaginable reards of our unanswered prayers so much so that we even ask of Allah to keep our rewards for our dua's and EVERY atom of our good deeds in the next world where we will benefit from them for eternity!
