You're not the only one who is getting this error. Below is the message it gives admins.
To use the asset picker you need to have a publicly accessible album with at least one image in it. Please create such an album if you want to select an image. You can still enter an image location in the edit box if you like.
even when you paste a link to an image in the box it still displays that message.

I'm pretty sure that's for when we had the album option, which was then removed. It allowed you to select a background pic from the album. You don't need one of those if you're going to enter a link. I could be wrong though.

Try not clicking 'choose image'. That's what brought up the error message for me. Just put in the link, select 'both' from the drop-down list next to 'repeat' then press 'submit'. Finally, save it at the top. It should work.

This works, I managed to do it, just put the link to the image in the box and then click "submit" and then "save" at the top and it will change it.
Just search on google for the background/image you want and then copy the link to that image and paste it in the box and click submit.
How do you make the background image cover the whole page? and not just a little banner at the top?

That's why I told you to select 'both' from the list next to 'repeat'....it repeats it all over the page.
