Lessons from Quraan and Hadeeth – The Best of Judges

Say, “O Allah , Creator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, You will judge between your servants concerning that over which they used to differ.” [Zumur :46]

And the Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam) used to say: “O Allaah! Lord of Jibreel, Meekaa ‘eel and Israafeel. The Originator of the heavens and the earth. Knower of the Unseen and the apparent. You judge between Your servant in that which he differs. So guide me in that which I differ from the truth—by Your permission. Indeed, You guide whomsoever You please, to a Path that is straight.” [Saheeh Muslim, 770]
• It is better to use duahs which are found in the Quraan
• Allah (subhanahu wa taala) gives guidance and ability
• Angel Jibreel is the leader of the angels
• The Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wa salam) would sometimes speak with a slight difference to the verses in the Quraan
• Allah is the Lord of the Universe, Creator of Everything
• He is the Knower of the Unessen and He will judge his servants and is absolutely just in His judging
• Allah ta’ala is the judge in this dunya – when we have a dispute we must refer back to Allah and his messenger (SAW). Allah ta’la says: “If you differ in anything among yourselves, refer it to Allah and His Messenger, if you believe in Allah and the Last Day” [42:10]
• Allah ta’ala is the judge in the akhirah – The Prophet (saw) said: “Do you know who is poor? They (the Companions of the Holy Prophet) said: A poor man amongst us is one who has neither dirham with him nor wealth. He (the Holy Prophet) said: The poor of my Umma would be he who would come on the Day of Resurrecton with prayers and fasts and Zakat but (he would find himself bankrupt on that day as he would have exhausted his funds of virtues) since he hurled abuses upon others, brought calumny against others and unlawfully consumed the wealth of others and shed the blood of others and beat others, and his virtues would be credited to the account of one (who suffered at his hand). And if his good deeds fall short to clear the account, then his sins would be entered in (his account) and he would be thrown in the Hell-Fire.” [Muslim]
