FAQ

Q. What is al-Adab al-Mufrad?
A. Al-Adab al-Mufrad is a hadith compilation on Islamic morals and manners by Imam al-Bukhari.

Q. Is al-Adab al-Mufrad part of Sahih al-Bukhari?
A. No, it is a separate book compiled by al-Bukhari and that’s why it’s called al-Adab al-Mufrad in order to distinguish it from the Kitab al-Adab (chapter of manners) in Sahih al-Bukhari.

Q. Are all the hadith in al-Adab al-Mufrad authentic just like Sahih al-Bukhari?
A. No, Imam al-Bukhari did not apply the same rigorous standards of his Sahih. Therefore there are ahadith in it that are authentic according to the standard of his Sahih, ahadith that are authentic but not according to the standard of his Sahih, and ahadith that are somewhat weak.

Q. What will we learn?
A. Al-Adab al-Mufrad is not just a book of morals and manners. You will get to learn about different aspects of Islam e.g. Aqidah, fiqh, Sirah and the science of hadith.

Q. Will we complete the book in nine weeks?
A. No, the book contains more than 1300 hadith and therefore it's not possible to cover all of it in nine weeks. In part 1 of the course we'll cover the first 6 chapters of Al Adab Al-Mufrad, Inshallah. However there is a plan for a further 9 week course after Ramadan 2011 where we hope to complete the book, inshallah.

Q. Will we receive Ijaza (licence) from the Shaykh to narrate from al-Adab al-Mufrad?
A. Inshallah, those who attend all the sessions and complete the book will receive Ijaza from the Shaykh.

Q. What will be the language of delivery?
A. The sessions will be delivered in English, with the narrations being read out in Arabic.

Q. Will there be course handouts?
A. Ihsan Centre will provide a handout containing all the Hadith with translation. You are expected to take your own notes.

Q. Are female students welcome?
A. The course is open to both men and women. Separate segregated seating for women with a view of the shaykh will be facilitated for.

Q. Will there be a crèche facility?
A. Unfortunately we will not be providing crèche facilities.

Book now as spaces on this course is limited.
