Seems rather harsh that he was kicked out of the military for converting to Islam.

Have you forgotten about Captain James Yee, the muslim chaplain in Guantanamo?
The US military waged vicious dirty smear campaign against him, accusing him of everything: from adultery to spionage to storing pornographic materials.
But Yee fought back, and in the end the US military who didn't have the guts to go court had to discharge him honorably.

I don't get muslims who serve the US military, when the US military has killed and continues killing innumerable number of muslims all over the world.

Hooray for not being able to sleep. I'm here at 3:30 AM local time.

Anyway, I don't see the "war on terror" as a war on Islam at all. I think it was just an excuse for the US government to go after resource-rich countries (read: oil-rich) in the Middle East. It just so happens that these are all Islamic nations.

For me, Islam is my chance to find my inner peace. I don't care about political rhetoric or motivations of things going on half a world away. That has no bearing on me finding happiness in my own life.

This is simply my opinion, so take that for what it's worth. You know what they say about opinions anyway...
