Please note this is not just a normal fiqh of Hajj course. The course is designed to train those who are going for hajj so that they can gain a spiritual uplifting from their sacred journey. It will also include how to live the life of a pious Muslim with signs of one’s hajj being accepted. This will be mainly done through deep reflection of the life of Prophet Ibrahim (as).
Furthermore, the course will go through many of those thought-provoking verses where Allah mentions the stories of various phases of Prophet Ibrahim’s life; from his quest for tawhid through his observations of the celestial bodies, to the number of sacrifices that he made willingly throughout his life, which earned him one of the most envious titles –the friend of Allah.
The Qur’an directly commands us to follow the millah or the way of Prophet Ibrahim. Moreover, the Qur’an reminds us that Prophet Ibrahim’s faith in Allah was never shaken by the trials and tribulations in his life. He remained steadfast against the greatest tyranny of his time, resisted the pressure from his family, sacrificed his children and wife, and was willing to give his life for the sake of Allah. In fact this journey of a lifetime that you will be embarking on is actually walking upon the footsteps of Prophet Ibrahim and his family. You are, in reality, answering the call of Prophet Ibrahim who invited you for Hajj.
The Qur’an tells us: “and announce amongst men about Hajj…” In short, the sacrifices of Prophet Ibrahim and his family are enshrined in most of the rites of the Hajj. Apart from Hajj symbolising brotherhood, sincerity and equality in front of Allah, it is in fact the amalgamation of sacrifices made by Prophet Ibrahim and his family. Being one of the greatest gatherings on the face of the earth surely it has more to offer than just rituals and symbolic meanings. Come and join us and let us discover what hajj really is for those of us who are travelling and those of us who are celebrating the first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah at home inshAllah.
