Pamela Geller, New York City's most vocal Islamophobe, is having a rough week.
Not only is Palestine asking for statehood up in Midtown, but that pesky "Ground Zero Mosque" Park 51 Community Center she fought so hard to prevent from opening, held its first exhibit Wednesday night.
And as if that wasn't enough for the right-wing blogger, now the MTA won't even put up her advertisement!
Last week, in response to a subway ad calling for the end of US military support to Israel, Geller submitted this to the MTA:

Geller made the papers when she said she'd sue if the MTA refused to put up the advertisement, calling it "a free speech issue."
And now, well, the MTA's refusing to put up her advertisement.
Geller was notified of the ad's rejection Thursday and the rejection letter, which she's posted on her Atlas Shrug blog in an entry titled, "IT'S OFFICIAL: PRO-JIHAD MTA BANS PRO-ISRAEL ADS, RUNS ANTI-ISRAEL ADS", explains that Geller's ad "contains language that, in our view, does not conform with the MTA’s advertising standards regarding ads that demean an individual or group of individuals..." A call to the MTA confirms that her ad didn't pass muster.
And the MTA has a good point. As Gothamist sarcastically notes: "Yeah! Why is everyone shocked at the word "savage?" Or the phrase "war between the civilized man and the savage?" It's not as if that phrase has ever been used in history to suppress minorities or advance theories of white supremacy. Nope."
Geller, who's done this kind of thing before, is keeping her promise and is preparing to sue the MTA. She writes:
The pro-jihad MTA is refusing my ad for the word "savage." Just so you know, I will be suing, with the aid of my inestimable legal team, David Yerushalmi and Robert Muise of the Thomas More Law Center. We are what? 4-0, now? Tarazi lawsuit roundly defeated, check. Detroit/SMART Transit on "Leaving Islam" bus ad lawsuit, check. MTA on the Ground Zero Bus ads lawsuit, check. Miami Transit for "Leaving Islam" bus ads lawsuit, check. I will say this until someone in those clueless ivory towers of the sharia-compliant MTA understands this. "Savage" is accurate. The pro-jihad MTA cannot ban the the truth, particularly in the political arena...
In the spring of 2010, as part of her "Leave Islam" campaign, Geller paid $10,000 to put this advertisement on city buses:

And in the summer of 2010, during the "Ground Zero Mosque" controversy she helped spearhead, she successfully scared the MTA into keeping up this

I am not particularly bothered by her not sure why, normally I would be outraged but she seems like an irrelevant has-been not sure who's funding her suits and adverts? ... but as they say any publicity is good publicity .. we've to thank her and that other Quran burning lusus for increasing the number of converts.. so long as they do it from their own pocket :shade:

best thing you can do is leave these sort of people in obscurity, adverts can only sell what your buying.
but i guess thats the world for you, you make the celebrities.

the last thing she wants is fatwah's on her head.. well its either that or american idol.
be aware of what you promote, walking away from people like her leaves them in the company of those that are inclined towards her standpoint.

and if you stand with her to argue then lose the argument but promote your religion.. we're not women beaters lol

argue in the best of ways right?
and who can beat free advertising?

While I don't agree with the building of the Community Center at Ground Zero (time and place, people. Time and place), I don't agree with wingnuts like this either.

People like this are best left ignored. When they realize that nobody is paying attention to them, they'll go away. It's just like the little toddler that throws a wobbler. When nobody pays attention, they get bored and go do something else.

Salaam,

This is upsetting :hmm: Oh well. At least we know this woman clearly isn't intelligent enough to even know what a fatwa is ;D

That property always belonged to Muslims though, it isn't that they up one day & said let's rub this in their faces. Not that there's anything to rub anyway given 911 was an inside job!

perhaps the definition of dignity differs in western culture? Where I come from also known as 'the birth place of civilization' clothed women were women of dignity, power and class & the naked ones were known as wh ores or poor scullery maids.. but what do us 'Savages' know?

It's a matter of zoning. Nobody would have made a fuss over building a church or a synagogue or any other place of worship there. It's really just a building, after all.

Well I'm not ready to go that far with it, but I don't agree with the "official story" of 9/11 and am embarrassed and angry that the government is still trying to deceive everyone with this charade of "Al Quaeda and OBL did it". It insults my intelligence every time I hear some talking head mention Al Quaeda and OBL when talking about 9/11.

notice how last year they staged the "ground zero mosque" protests and the lamestream media managed to totally avoid the ever growing 9/11 truth rallies around the corner,

this is what they report instead:

this year they declare high alert and the police refuse to allow people with an "investigate 9/11" t-shirt anywhere near the vicinity.

Is she a porn star? (no pun intended)

It's quite funny how these Islamophobes work: someone can be jailed for reading Shaykh ul-Islam ibn Taymiyyah's (rahimahullah) work on political subjects but people like her roaming freely who incite hatred, calling for hatred and terrorism, and inspire other people to carry terrorist acts.

I suspect that's how she funds her hatred by wh oring herself can you think of a better way?.. hate speech is freedom of speech in their book, just not applicable to Muslims though.. will have the FBI knocking on your door and chasing you in some remote areas of Yemen with drones and oh for much lesser like questioning who's the terrorist, as Tony Bennett found out in the past couple of days..

well, that's a possibility - then again sleeping with many men (being a s lut) is a norm in western society - the opposite is looked as strange and made fun off. I have seen only couple of her pictures and her appearance just seemed to indicate that either she's a porn star/prostitute or have something for pornography.

Or it could be that her hatred for Islam has really clouded her mind so she tries her best to dress opposite of what Islam has laid down. As a result, she comes out as one of those women who are naked even with some clothes on. Allah tells us that He has provided us with clothes to honour us but these people do the opposite:

قُلْ مَنْ حَرَّمَ زِينَةَ اللّهِ الَّتِيَ أَخْرَجَ لِعِبَادِهِ
Say (O Muhammad SAW): "Who has forbidden the adornment with clothes given by Allah, which He has produced for His slaves" [Sura Al-Ar'af (7): 32]

This reminds me of a case I read about where the father of some girl was suing the maker of the Girls Gone Wild series because his daughter was in one of the videos and apparently she was underage at the time.

Now my question is: how did he know she was in the video? Either he watched it, or his friends did. So who is worse? The daughter for whoring herself out at 17, or the father for watching his little girl onscreen (and probably enjoying it)?

I can just hear the guy's friends: "Dude, your daughter is hot!"

I don't know if such things are a turn-on for men? I imagine not, I have read a report once that men are more attracted to women in the winter than in the summer and it had to do with clothes (I'll have to find it but it was posted here before) to me as a woman it was just gross. I find it gross and saddening .. It was actually one of those Kardashian girls they're on the news all the time you can't miss them and like any sin they might feel bad the first time but the devil takes their guilt away. She like many others has built her fame leaking her sex tapes and taking off her clothes.. I don't think that's empowering but perhaps they mean it in terms of the fortune they built upon sin?

^Sister, that report may have an element of truth, but from personal experience uncovered women on the streets during summer are more fitnah than in the winter when they are forced to put some clothes on. During summer it's like they got their stuff on your lap :@. Traveling in crowded buses/trains, or walking in crowded areas is really a test of imaan - wherever you look the fitnah is there. I can't wait for winter then allhamdulillah there will be some peace. I plan to buy sunglasses and use them next summer to combat accidental looks; I wonder if that will help.

Oh I've heard that many times, in schools "dude, you're one luck guy, your sister/mom is really hot" or in offices "yo, your girlfriend/finance/wife is one hot chick". Heck, even my colleagues used to comment about other female colleagues. One day, this late middle-age lady passed by our cubic and my colleagues remarked: "She such a hot MILF!". I had to ask him what does MILF mean and he gave me a surprising look before telling me what it meant. I was disgusted! And then they tell us "men don't look at women as sexual objects so why do women have to cover".

these are the days we've come out!

Pamela Geller is a despicable wingnut and a virulent purveyor of hatred and bigotry. She is deserving of contempt and criticism. However, to criticise her based on her appearance is a waste since there is so much of substance to be objected to in her case.

Furthermore, as this discussion is devolving into a bash fest against non-Muslims, it is demonstrating that bigotry resides not only within Pamela Geller. Let us not forget that this story is about the rejection of Pamela Geller's hateful anti-Muslim, anti-Islam propoganda by the MTA, and that decision was likely taken by non-Muslims. Just saying...

I think you have some selective reading problem here.
I see some people leveled criticism against certain types of behavior of non-muslims, not against any non-muslims.

Welcome to Islam my brother! Keep telling yourself "Fear Allah and lower your gaze"; I try to constantly mumble it to myself when I'm outside. This also needs to be remembered when we are on our computers. The fitnah is everywhere. We just need to strive hard and fight against it. These uncovered women on the streets etc., are helpers of shaytan and their looks are nothing more than a deception of shaytan - he makes it look good to us.

Learning from our ancestors (radiAllahu anhuma):

Actually everything about her is fair game.. furthermore, even though the MTA declined her rhetoric, she is planning to sue and given her two previous wins (see original post) there's a good possibility that she'll win for her cause under the guise of 'freedom of speech' .. I don't see one reason why her hatred shouldn't be met in kind? We will leave all that good will and cheer to folks such as yourself.. you do that, you single her out as a solitary nut president and body of her own camp. The rest of us unfortunately have come to learn differently!

best,
With all due respect, you are putting words in my mouth. While I would like to imagine that she is alone in her hatred, I know as well as you do that she is not. She and her ilk are indeed fair game. As for meeting her hatred in kind, I would hope that an appropriate and effective approach can be found rather than what I have seen so far in this discussion.

It will be interesting to see where her lawsuit goes; unfortunately, I fear that you might turn out to be correct.

"Best" back to you

I struggle every day with looking at women and porn, much more than alcohol. I'm single and sometimes I get lonely and I start thinking about all of the women that I have had relationships with, for good or for bad. Sometimes I can resist the temptation, but sometimes I can't. Just the other day I was really down about it. This is probably my hardest struggle, I would say. Being a single Muslim man in a culture that idolizes and worships sex is more difficult that I had ever imagined it would be.
