I have heard some people say that the Mujahideen was not the same as the Taliban is this true ? Or did many Mujahideen members became members of the Taliban ? Some say if the Soviet Union was allowed to stay in Afghanistan that the Taliban would of never took power ?

Freedom Fighters in Afghanistan

Uploaded by trodas on Aug 1, 2007

Todays the Taliban, Al Qaeda and terrorists - yestarday the big American allied forces. In 1982, Ronald Reagan dedicated the Space Shuttle Columbia to the resistance fighters in Afghanistan. Just as the Columbia, we think, represents man's finest aspirations in the field of science and technology so too does the struggle of the Afghan people represent man's highest aspirations for freedom. I am dedicating, on behalf of the American people, the March 22nd launch of the Columbia to the people of Afghanistan.

Proclamation 5034—Afghanistan Day, 1983

By the President of the United States of America, 21 March 1983

The tragedy of Afghanistan continues as the valiant and courageous Afghan freedom fighters [The Taliban] persevere in standing up against the brutal power of the Soviet invasion and occupation. The Afghan people are struggling to reclaim their freedom, which was taken from them when the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan in December of 1979.

they have to separate the idea that they created what they now call "the enemy" so it has to have a different name,
it's becoming obvious now that they call afghan fighters "taliban" and foreign fighters "alQaeda",
when before they called them all "the brave mujahideen"

brother tyrion, i think it's a good thread and has it's merits in being separate from normal questions.

Bro i tried to answer with my limited understanding.
now a days there are many fighter group in name of taliban in pakistan and afghanistan. but we can devide them into two main categories. one are ppl who had fight against russia. they had deep links with ISI since that time and they are only fighting in afghanistan with america after russia. they never attack pak army or sucide attacks in pakistan. u can say they are "mujahideen".
they other group is ppl who got power inside pakistan. they are anti pakistani. they attack pak army, police and public by sucide attacks. they had never fight against russia or america. they are called local taliban or in our language "muqami taliban".
as far i see the later group is funded by indian, israel and american agencies and they are using them against ISI and pakistan army. they are using name of islam but working for their own interest and money and dont have proper knowledge of islam. bcz many pakkistani scholar and sheiks have condemn their activities that they are not allowed in islam to kill innocent ppl.
hope u got bit idea.

also u note america never attack the later group by drone attacks. all drone attack are on leader of first group in wazirsitan, and nearby agencies merali, bajoor, mahmend etc.

well said brother, i feel it's the truth and they are known for it, it's called the "counter gang" where the false flag group commit atrocities and it is used to discredit the real group.
i made a video on it last year:
