As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakatuh

Dear brothers and sisters, I hope you are in the best of health and Eemaan.

The following is a sincere reminder for us all,

Posting in the Advice & Support section is a serious responsibility and requires careful thought about what we say and how we choose our words.

We are all human beings and have our weakness, life is not easy for anyone, but Allah has not given us permission to resort to criticism, condemnation or insults. If we have this kind of attitude and mannerism in conversing with each other, especially with those members who come on here for advice and support, then our contributions will cause more harm than good and we will be sinful in the matter.

There will be times members will say things which are inappropriate and perhaps this is due to certain life circumstances which may cause their faith to quiver, but please understand and try to handle the situation with maturity and having emotional intelligence.

We need to exercise some tact and wisdom before replying to other members, especially when they are feeling low, and do not bring out the worse in them, lest we are partly responsible for the negative comments they throw back in return, sometimes even involving Allah.

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should speak a good word or remain silent…”

Do not underestimate the effects of words and the consequences they can cause. It only takes a few tactless words to push a person of their tether, or put them in such a rut that they find it even harder to re-connect with Allaah. On the contrary, a few encouraging words can really uplift a falling person, boost their confidence and re-establish their Eemaan (which goes up and down for all of us).

I understand that we all have our emotional load life has thrown our way, but please brothers and sisters, bringing it all with you in this section will never help you or the person you are trying to give advice too. If there are frustrations or problems in your life, leave them outside for a while.

Last but not least, please be patient and gentle. What we will get with gentleness and patience, we won’t get with harshness.

Jazakum Allaahu Khairan for your time, may Allaah subhana wa ta'ala help us and guide us all. Aameen.
