I have a general question:

Today my Grandmother is gathering about 11 people from our family to sit and recite darood shareef 11 times and then recite surah iklas about 1100 times (altogether in b/w the 11 people)

The reason she says she is doing this is because the made a promise with God that if he fulfils such and such she will fulfill her promise of recitiing surah iklas 1100 times.

She has done this before as well.

Just wondering what is the ruling on this (if any).. is it wrong? are we allowed to make a promise to God in such a way? please support with hadith or quran I am not looking for personal opinion..

thanks!
