His name is Ersin, he is a Turkish Muslim teenager with a very rare condition. He is paralysed since childhood and cant move his body from the head down, and wheelchair bound. He can only move his head slightly and his hands, he cannot lift his arms.

I've known this brother since May last year and we've been speaking everyday thru MSN. As you can imagine, it is a real effort for this brother to type on a keyboard with his condition, yet he never complains - not even once have I heard him complain of his condition... And he's heard me complain about this that and the other - a lot. I feel ashamed.

This week, he was rushed to hospital in emergency because he was experiencing very bad breathing problems. He will now have to be on specialised breathing equipment and this saddens me to no end. If I'm to be honest, ever since he told me this news yesterday, I have been in bits and pieces. My tears won't stop when I think about him and even now as i write this, I am in bits again.

Brothers, sisters, if you know this brother like I do, you will know a PURE heart. One that is blessed with love for all of humanity. You cannot believe some of the moments I've had with this brother. Once he asked me "I can't pray, will I be punished?" brothers, sisters, this one question broke me - even though I know the anser is "no, you are exempt from punishment on this" his question, his desire to make salah, is what broke me...

...Once when I was in jamaat, in Wembley masjid, I saw a man in a wheelchair being wheeled in to the masjid for salah. The man was paralused also, and seeing his desire to worship Allah ensured that I was in tears thru the whole of that salaah - it was beautiful to see that this paralysed man, wanted to offer worship to Allah in the holy month of Ramadhan... I remember thinking all those years ago, that if i ever got the opportunity to meet someone like that again, I will befriend them.

Allah gave me that opportunity in May last year. When I got to know him, I had no idea of his condition till weeks later - when he confided in me. I have never met him in person, as we are in different countries.

18 year old Brother Ersin is amazingly intelligent and gifted with computers, and is like a beautiful personality that will make you wonder at the mercy of Allah in awe. We think we have problems, but match them up against his daily struggle and our problems seem superficial in comparison.

All I can tell you is that people born with his condition have a low life expectancy. And now, with the breathing difficulties, and the need for specialised breathing equipment - ... Well.

Please my dear brothers and sister. I have asked you for nothing before, and I promise I will ask you for nothing after this, all I am asking is that you remember Brother Ersin in your duas, and ask Allah to give him shifaat. And that Allah accepts him and forgives him any sin that he may have. Ask Allah to heal him. Allah has power over all things, nothing is impossible for HIM.

Greetings and peace be with you Scimitar;

I will pray for Ersin, he is suffering in the same way my mum suffered, and she was born in Smyrna, Turkey. I watched my mother suffer with multiple sclerosis for the last thirty years of her life. She could not move her arms or legs for about the last twenty years, and everything had to be done for her. She had to be fed, dressed, taken to the toilet, hoisted in and out of bed, washed, she had to suffer every kind of indignity and helplessness. Yet she seemed to experience a calmness and peace about her, despite all her suffering. I could never really understand her calmness.

I really could not understand how she seemed to just accept it, she rarely complained and often seemed more worried and concerned about our problems than her own. She had a faith in God and she sometimes used to say that she is ready to meet Jesus now. I never heard her blame God for her problems.

At one point she went into a coma and was taken to hospital, the doctors said she had hours to live so we called a priest. When the priest finished his prayers my mums gasping for air seemed to change, she seemed to relax and started to breathe more normally. What seemed like a fairly short time after, she came round and started to speak, she had no recollection of anything that happened in hospital for the last two days, or that the priest had said prayers over her.

She lived another ten years in her paralysed state, people might have said that it would have been kinder for her to have passed away in hospital. But somehow through my mums faith in God, I went from being agnostic to finding a greater faith myself.

God answers prayers in a way that help us to find eternal life, I don’t think God answers prayers in a way, that just makes our lives easier on this Earth. God will never place on us a burden that is too great for us to carry, but we do need to turn to God and pray for that strength, to get us through this day, and every day, always one day at a time. We must never give up hope in a loving and merciful God

I can only say that I will never meet a stronger person than my mum, and she was so kind and caring too. Faith is only faith when it is tested, sometimes it seems that God tests us in extreme ways. We all die, faith and trust in God helps us to look forwards to a greater good life after death.

Every blessing

Assalamu-alaikum,

This is heart-breaking news.

Brother Ersin has often been in my thoughts, ever since I discovered the immense trial that he has been silently facing - each and every day of his life.

Truly, the challenge of loss of ones health, in whatever form, is one of the severist trials that a person can be put through.

So, for those who have been blessed with a strong, healthy, disease-free body - treasure this amaanat from Allah (subhanawatála).
You only really know what you have, when it is taken away from you.

And those who have been/ are tried in this manner, as is our young brother Ersin - Allah Taa'la has saved soo much more for you, that if we only knew, we would all wish that we had been tried harder in this dunya.

No ones pain, tears and hardships are ever in vain - when we use it as a means of drawing nearer to Allah (subhanawataála), and when we face it with patient perserverance.

Brother Ersin is an inspiration for us all in this regard, Alhamdulillah.

The Prophet said, "No fatigue, nor disease, nor sorrow, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were the prick he receives from a thorn, but that Allah expiates some of his sins for that." (Bukhari: Book 7, Volume 70, Hadith 545 )

Remember, if Allah loves a person - He tests him.
How much was the greatest of creation - Muhammed (sallalahu alaihi wasalam) tried and tested? What incredible tribulations He faced!

And so too, how beloved is brother Ersin in the sight of our merciful Creator?

May Allah make this difficult road that he is his travelling easy for both him and his family.
May He make this test a means of purification, and raise him rank upon rank.

Ameen.

You are in my duaas my dear Akhi, as well as all my brothers and sisters, insha Allah.

Dear Brother Scimi,

Please give our dear brother Ersin the good news that he can still pray even in this condition insha Allah. Allah has granted us ease in salah if we are ill or weak. But it is still an obligatory act of worship. Briefly detailing below...

The prayer of a sick person:

'Imran ibn Husain (r.a.) said, "I was suffering from hemorrhoids (piles), so I asked the Messenger of Allah (saaws) and he said: Pray standing; if you are not able, then sitting down; if you are not able to do so, then pray lying down. [Bukhari, Abu Dawood and Ahmad]

___

Standing during prayer is an obligatory pillar which cannot be omitted. It is not permissible for anyone to pray sitting unless he is unable to stand, or standing is very difficult for him, or he is sick and there is the fear that his sickness may become worse if he prays standing up.

That also includes a paralyzed person who is unable to stand at all, and an elderly person for whom it is difficult to stand, and a sick person who will be harmed by standing because it will either make his sickness worse or delay his recovery.

The basic principle concerning that is the report narrated by al-Bukhaari (1050) from ‘Imraan ibn Husayn (may Allaah be pleased with him) who said: I had haemorrhoids, and I asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) about praying. He said: “Pray standing; if you cannot, then sitting; and if you cannot, then lying on your side.”

Ibn Qudaamah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: If standing will make a sick person’s sickness worse, then he should pray sitting. The scholars are unanimously agreed that a person who cannot stand may pray sitting. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to ‘Imraan ibn Husayn: “Pray standing; if you cannot, then sitting; and if you cannot, then lying on your side.”

I spoke to him yesterday, he came online later than usual. Ersin was sleeping all that time. Since I have known him, he has always been the first one to be get in the MSn group - before everyone else... but recently, he has been complaining of tiredness. And therefore, been taking more breaks. And now with this breathing difficulty and the need for specialised breathing equipment... well you can imagine.

However, he was in a good mood and he asked me to let everyone know that he really appreciates your duas.

I really appreciate the duas for him too.

I heard somewhere that when a Muslim makes a dua for another Muslim, 70'000 angels make the same dua for the one who makes the dua. How merciful is our Allah, Allahu Akbar.

Thank you sister Dying Rose, may Allah forever keep you in HIS good graces, both, in this world and the next, Ameen.

Breathing difficulties.. subhan Allah. How precious one breath is we don't realize until we have to struggle to take it. O Allah the Merciful, The Kind and the Loving.. Ersin is in my prayers, it seems that Allah has touched the hearts of many people through Ersin. We see people with huge disabilities, and they are remarkable people, Allah helps them in ways that we do not comprehend or understand

We pray in our way; and Allah answers in his way, we pray for things we want on this Earth, but they may not be the things that help us attain eternal salvation. Here is an Islamic prayer that helps me to understand a little.

I asked for Strength.........
And Allah gave me Difficulties to make me strong.
I asked for Wisdom.........
And Allah gave me Problems to solve.
I asked for Prosperity.........
And Allah gave me Brain and Brawn to work.
I asked for Courage.........
And Allah gave me Danger to overcome.
I asked for Love.........
And Allah gave me Troubled people to help.
I asked for Favours.........
And Allah gave me Opportunities.

I received nothing I wanted
I received everything I needed
My Prayer has been answered.

Barak Allahu feek. I was crying as well bro. I was thinking of Ersin and of others who are sick - especially our brothers and sisters in the conflict zones who are without the medical help they need. I can't even begin to imagine the extent of their suffering. May Allah send them His help and mercy, and destroy the enemies of Islam. Ameen. Asking Allah to have mercy on all the muslimeen should be an essential part of our duaas. We should never forget them in their suffering. This thread has made me cry a lot.

They do not do injustice to others nor do they tolerate any injustice to themselves. In their love and concern for each other, all members of this Brotherhood are one body: when any part of the body suffers, the whole body feels the pain [Sahih Muslim]

Accordance with the hadith where the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said,“The supplication of a Muslim for his brother in his absence will certainly be answered. Everytime he makes a supplication for good for his brother, the angel appointed for this particular task says: `Ameen! May it be for you, too’.” [Muslim].

In our everyday lives, we often encounter handicapped people. Whether we stop to chat with them or not, many of us find ourselves thanking God for creating us free of disabilities while simultaneously uttering a prayer for them.
Interestingly enough though, whereas we may consider such people disadvantaged, there is very little evidence in the Qur’an or the traditions of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) that Islam views them in a similar fashion. For instance, the Qur’an contains hardly any direct reference to disabled people except in the context of jihad: “Not equal are those of the believers who sit (at home), except those who are disabled, and those who strive hard and fight in the Cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives.” (4:95)
In another place, when God rebukes the Prophet, pbuh, in Surah Abasa (Ch. 80) on account of his behavior toward Abdullah ibn Umm Maktum, He does not dwell on the latter’s disability except to refer to him as the “blind man.” In other words, the Prophet is not being admonished on his insensitivity towards a handicapped person, but rather on his negligence of someone who came to him to learn.

The Prophet’s behavior toward disabled people is an example par excellence for us. In addition to greeting Abdullah ibn Umm Maktum with respect and humility, the Prophet, pbuh, designated him as the Leader of Madinah many times in his own absence. As far as the Prophet was concerned, Abdullah ibn Umm Maktum’s blindness was not a hindrance in his ability to carry out his duties.

Similarly, the case of Julaybib, another companion of the Prophet, is instructive. He was thus known because of his diminutive figure. He was also described as being deformed or revolting in appearance. While many people in Madinah had made him an outcast, the Prophet, pbuh, instead approached a family to give their beautiful daughter as a bride for Julaybib. As may be expected, the parents were blinded by his apparent handicaps – yet their daughter surrendered herself to the will of the Prophet, pbuh.

These examples are important because they show that even though the Prophet, pbuh, was sensitive to their particular circumstances, he did not consider these to be things which should stand in their way of leading normal lives. Rather, he was intent upon focusing on their inner beauty and amorphous souls – just as he did with all of his companions.

Therefore, putting aside our own prejudices and assumptions, we must recognize that disability in and of itself is not necessarily a hindrance or disadvantage. No doubt, it causes the afflicted person far more difficulty than someone who is not in his/her position. This is all the more reason why we should make extra efforts to provide facilitation to our brothers and sisters by ensuring not only their physical comfort through appropriate measures but their mental and emotional ease as well. The latter can only be accomplished if we view them beyond their physical state, just as the Prophet, pbuh, did.
After all, God has promised us that our lives are a test for us. Degrees and forms of our trials vary from person to person, even family to family. However, it is up to us to have fortitude, accept our fate, and then actively work to make the best out of them. Indeed, God has promised us that “with every hardship there is relief,” (94:5) and that “no person shall have a burden laid on him greater than he can bear” (2:286).

In general, handicapped people face the challenge of normalizing their lives with patience, strength and courage. Many of them accomplish this with such flair that they no longer see themselves as “different.” May God facilitate them in their adversity and enable others of us to become a supportive force for them.Ameen

^Ameen Ya Rabb. Such times are trying for those left behind. But the greater the loss the higher the reward in it's patience. Subhan Allah. Allah is the Most Kind and Most Loving

MASHA-ALLAH, lovely post sister Dying Rose. How very true.

I spoke to him yesterday and discovered that he is on specialised breathing equipment when he goes to sleep now. he's in the MSN group at the moment, but his status is set to busy... however, knowing Ersin, he is a strong character and will always be smiling, making us all feel good, and talking about the beauty of Islam. He is in good spirits :)

I will keep you updated of any changes in his condition, be they good ones or not so good ones, insha-Allah.

Sis Dying Rose, thank you for asking :)

May Allah give you the best of this world and the next, forgive you your sins and increase you in good deeds, and give you the highest garden in the highest heaven, Ameen.

Barak Allahu feek for update brother Scimi. May Allah make it easy for our brother. Ameen. Masha Allah, brother Ersin sounds like an amazing human being and is blessed in having caring friends like you and the other brothers and sisters who’ve spoken with love and admiration for him. Insha Allah he will find great rewards await him for his patience.

Hadith - Al-Tirmidhi #1570, Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah

Allah's Messenger said, "On the Day of Resurrection, when people who have suffered affliction are given their reward, those who are healthy will wish their skins had been cut to pieces with scissors when they were in the world."

[Tirmidhi transmitted it, saying that this is a gharib tradition.]

Recorded by Ahmad , verified authentic by al-Hakim, ath-Thahabi, and al-Albani

The ailment is intensified for the righteous. Whenever a believer is afflicted with a hardship, be it a thorn or more, a sin is taken off him because of it, and he is elevated on level (in Jannah [Paradise]).

Allah is with our brother Ersin and with all those suffering from sickness and disease. Wallahi knowing how merciful Allah is to the believers brings tears to my eyes. Glory and Praise be to Allah, The Highest...

Hadith - Qudsi 18
O son of Adam, I fell ill and you visited Me not. He will say: O Lord, and how should I visit You when You are the Lord of the worlds? He will say: Did you not know that My servant So-and-so had fallen ill and you visited him not? Did you not know that had you visited him you would have found Me with him? O son of Adam, I asked you for food and you fed Me not. He will say: O Lord, and how should I feed You when You are the Lord of the worlds? He will say: Did you not know that My servant So-and-so asked you for food and you fed him not? Did you not know that had you fed him you would surely have found that (the reward for doing so) with Me? O son of Adam, I asked you to give Me to drink and you gave Me not to drink. He will say: O Lord, how should I give You to drink when You are the Lord of the worlds? He will say: My servant So-and-so asked you to give him to drink and you gave him not to drink. Had you given him to drink you would have surely found that with Me.

Please ask brother Ersin to remember us in his duas. His duas are most precious to Allah.

Allah's Messenger said, "When you visit an invalid tell him to make supplication for you, for his supplication is like that of the angels." [Ibn Majah transmitted it.]

Jazak Allah khayr for your beautiful dua brother Scimi. Ameen. May Allah, The Most Merciful and Loving, reward all your efforts and kindness and love you and draw you closer to Him in both worlds, until you find yourself in the shade of His Throne forever in the Hereafter. Ameen Ya Rabbil aalameen.

His condition is still getting worse but with the breathing equipment - he feels much better Alhamdulillah. Let's continue to keep Bro Ersin in our dua's.
imsad Not a day goes by I don't think about brother Ersin and make dua for him. All I can say is that for the believer, hardships may be like storms, but the only thing they destroy is the obstacles that stand in our way and Jannah. Insha Allah the road to jannah will be clear and easy for brother Ersin. All his suffering and patience will be compensated for complete and eternal joy - not like the temporary joy one experiences in the dunya. May he pass over Al Sirat with the speed of light and be granted the highest ranks in jannah. Ameen

Hardships will end but the reward for bearing them in patience will be ever-lasting. When Allah loves someone He puts them through a test.

"We will test you with something of fear, and hunger and loss of wealth, and souls and vegetation. And give glad tidings to those who have patience. Those who if in any difficulty or trial, or tribulation occurs to them or happens to them, they say: 'Verily We are from Allah and to Allah we return.' They are those who will receive prayers from their Lord and Mercy and it is those who are guided."

"Whatever is with you is transitory, whereas that which is with God is everlasting. We will certainly reward those who are patient (in adversity) according to the noblest of their deeds."
The Holy Quran, 16:98

“O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.” (Qur’an, 2:153)

“Faces that day will be joyful – pleased with their striving – in a garden on high, where they shall hear no bad speech.”
[Ghashiyah, 88: 8-11]

“Some faces, that day, will beam (in happiness), looking at their Lord!”
[Qiyamah, 75: 22-23]

“Their salutation on the day they meet Him will be ‘Peace!; and He has prepared for them a generous reward.”
[Ahzab, 33: 44]

“They will say, ‘Praise be to Allah, who has truly fulfilled His promise to us and has made us inherit the earth. We can dwell in the garden where we will. How excellent a reward for those who work (righteousness)!”
[Zumar, 39: 74]

“They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. They will say, ‘We used to be fearful of Allah and His punishment among our people. But Allah has been good to us and has delivered us from the penalty of the scorching wind. Truly, we used to call upon Him before. Truly, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful.”
[Tur, 52: 25-28]

The reality of the dunya

Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: 'On the Day of Judgment, the world will be presented in the form of an ugly, old, pale and toothless woman. She will appear in front of people who will be asked who she is. They will seek refuge in Allah from any association with her. Then, they will be told 'She is the world over which you fought and broke off family relations. She is the world over which you envied and hated each other and then deceived each other.' She will be flung into Hell and she will say; 'O my Lord! Where are my followers? Where are my parties?' Allah will order her followers and parties to be joined with her.'

No big loss there!

Allah says in the Qur’an: “Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without account.” (Qur’an, 39:10) Subhan Allah!

Allah (swt) also says, “And Allah loves the steadfast.” (Qur’an, 3:146)

Examples of Those Who are Patient
The Prophet ﷺ is the best example. Despite being exiled from his home, losing his loved ones, being abused and suffering near starvation, he never wavered in his character. He was patient in doing good, patient in refraining from evil even when he was tempted with wealth and women, and he was patient when afflicted with calamity. All of his children died in his lifetime except Fatima (ra). He lost his wife and two of his uncles whom he loved dearly. Those who followed him were tortured. Yet he persisted in praying in the night, was described as always smiling and never hesitated to help people. His patience was in perseverance and never questioning the will of Allah.

Look at Prophet Ayyoub (as), who was not only patient with his affliction but he was content! He lost all fourteen of his children, his wealth and the companionship of the people because of his disease. Yet when he was asked to supplicate for Allah to heal him, he said “Allah gave me 50 years of blessings, should I not be patient with the same number of years of hardship?” He never complained of his illness. Of course, we should always ask Allah to help us (and Ayyoub (as) finally did) but what we should take from this is he wasn’t angry with Allah and never questioned His will.

Finally, ‘Urwah ibn al-Zubair (ra), one of the companions, had to have his leg amputated. While he was being visited by a friend, he said, “If you came to give me condolence for the loss of my leg, I already submitted to Allah with patience to reward me for its loss.” But the guest told him, “I came to inform you that your son fell down in a stable, and the animal stepped over him, and he passed away.” What would be the response of ‘Urwa of that moment? He said: “O Allah! You took one child, and left me many…You took one organ from my body, and left me many organs…O Allah! You tested me with my body, and you were kind to leave me with good health. You tested me with the loss of my son, but you were kind in leaving me the rest of my children.” Subhan’Allah. May we all be of the patient!

Insha Allah brother Ersin is one of them :)

Brother Ersin, if you read this, I'd just like you to know that this life is short and the real deal is in the hereafter where you'll be happy and blessed forever. Also, Allah loves you and is always with you so never feel alone. All around the world, we're making dua for you, so inshallah everything will be alright even though it's tough... I cannot even imagine. But I'd love for you to know that I go to Masjid Al-Nabawi in Madinah nearly every day (I live close by) and ever since I read what Brother Scimi wrote about you, I have been making dua for you every time I go there and when I visit the Prophet's grave.

These are some lyrics to a nasheed that came to my mind while reading your story:

The power of patience and the fire of hope, must burn in the hearts of the wise.
...
Allah only tests those that He loves
...
Oh the words of Allah are clear to the world
After hardship will always come ease

So be well-assured, my dear brother. And we're all here rooting for ya ^_^ Especially me. I'm going to inform everyone I know to make dua for you and thats about more than a couple of hundred people :P Get well soon!

wa alaykum assalam wa rahmatullahi wb,

Wow! A reply from brother Ersin masha Allah :) May Allah reward you brother Scimi. What a beautiful example of islamic brotherhood this sets masha Allah. May you both be side by side, smiling with radiant faces in the shade of Allah's Throne on the Day of Judgement. Ameen.

Brother Ersin, assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatu.I ask Allaah the Exalted, the Lord of the Great Throne, to heal you. Ameen

It's such a joy :) to hear from you and to know your heart condition is getting better al hamdulillah. But please, please don't tire yourself out for us. May Allah preserve you and keep you under His watchful and merciful gaze. Ameen Ya Rabb. Ameen. When I read you will keep us in your duas, I felt so happy because the dua of the sick is like the dua of the angels (Ibn Majah). Subhan Allah : ) It’s amazing how Allah cloaks those He loves with hardships, making the hardship a barrier between them and sin. I think about able-bodied people and the awful sins they are capable of committing and do. Then I look at someone who is severely physically/mentally disabled, and I think, subhan Allah! Hhow protected they are. Untouched by sin in so many ways. One of my ex neighbours has a severely mentally/physically handicapped daughter. The girl's head lolls to one side. She can't communicate. Saliva is always dribbling from her mouth. Her body and limbs seem twisted. And she will never be able to do anything a normal person does. She'll never get married. Never have children. Never do anything on her own accord. But she has something that able bodied person don’t – the same innocence and purity she was born with. How Allah cloaked her from the filth of this world. Subhan Allah. How easy Allah made for them to attain Jannah. Subhan Allah!

Likewise, Allah Almighty has protected you with a cloak of hardships and you wore it with patience masha Allah. In return, may Allah be most pleased with you and reward you with the beautiful garments of fine silk in the hereafter. Ameen Ya Rabbil aalameen. :statisfie

“… They will be adorned therein with bracelets of gold, and they will wear green garments of fine silk and heavy brocade. They will recline therein on raised thrones. How good [is] the recompense! How beautiful a couch [is there] to recline on!” (Quran 18:31)

Assalaam Alaikum,

We haven't heard from brother Ersin in over a week now. We're really worried about him. As you know, he is sufferring from Duchennes Muscular Dsytrophy, and can only move his 2 hands and his head. He is wheelchair bound and is solely reliant on his parents for most things - by the mercy of Allah.

His condition has been deteriorating over the past few months. He has been keeping a brave face thru all this, even though he's been on breathing equipment. As you know, not many Duchennes patients live past the age of 20, bro Ersin is almost that age now...

... please please please, please!!! please keep brother Ersin in your dua's, please. I don't know what else to say :(

I really don't know what to say bro, except that Ersin is in my duas and others as well and that no matter how painful, we all slaves of Allah and in full submisison to His will. I bet bro Ersin is much stronger than us and only Allah can give him his due reward for all the suffering he has faced. Be strong bro. Allah is with bro Ersin.

My heart is heavy for a brother that I have never met personally.

I am just thinking of the qoedrat of Allah (subhanawataála).
He has planned our lives thousands of years before we even came to be......including our young brother Ersin.

In His Great Wisdom, this is HIS plan for him. Nothing we do or say, can ever change that.
This is the trial that Ersin needs to face before returning to his Creator......as we all will, oneday.

The manner in which our humble brother has endured this great ordeal is all that matters - his patience and faith in Allah (subhanawataála) will raise him to such a high status in the Aakhirah, insha Allah.

As painful as it is to see a loved one in pain/ to lose someone close to us, the beauty of Islam is that we can find such comfort in knowing that our return is to our Creator (insha Allah, at a point when He is most pleased with us).
We come full circle.

We miss the ones who may leave us along the way,on this worldly journey.

But take solace thats its not for long, insha Allah.

We are all marching onwards - towards the same destination.

May Allah (subhanawataáala) grant brother Ersin comfort and peace where-ever he is right now.
And forgive him.
And make this trial easy on him.
And reward him abundantly in the Aakhirah, for all that he has endured.
Ameen.

I'd written a large post here but all words seem superfluous .. Sob7an Allah we do need to temper our sometimes seemingly impossible existence here with the knowledge that life is a fleeting temporary thing and always look at those far less fortunate as a lesson in both patience and gratitude more so that they're also an extension of us for we as an ummah are one body and when a part of the body ails the rest of the body suffers.
Truly we've none but Allah swt and our du3a. May Allah set grant shifaa to those ill- Rahma to those who have passed on and patience to those tried, victory and relief to the ummah.. We're five days into Ramadan in shaa Allah lrts make du3a and be hopeful of relief from the kindness and mercy of Allah swt.

Do not want to derail the thread, but is there evidence of this? From what I know only time of birth, gender, rizq and time of death are pre-determined. Everything else is based on our actions.

Because if what you have said is true then what is the point of living as everything about our life was pre-planned by Allah swt, I find that hard to digest that God would pre-plan our life and then we have to live through the pre-planned life. If someone commits suicide, was that pre-planned too? :S

Or did you mean everything has been written? That is true, everything has been written based on God's foreknowledge, does not mean God engineered it.

And I hope bro Ersin is bz in ibadaah and hence we dont seem him on net. iA.

^ Your queries concern the concept of qadr from an Islamic view-point.

The basic principles being:

1. Allah KNOWS what you will do (thousands of years before your birth).

2. Allah wrote it down.

3. Allah ALLOWS it to happen.

4. The actual happening of the event.

So, yes - you do have free will in life - e.g to take your own life.....and Allah already knows this......and it all occurs within the time that He (subhanawata ála) has appointed.

Having said this, there are some/ many elements of our life that are not within our control.

A similitude regarding this (heard from the late Ml Yunus Patel (ra) ):

'Your Life' can be compared to a 'Computer game'

--> The creator of the game - Allah (SWT), has already laid down the entire programme for this game - i.e. to a large extent, the course of your life has already been pre-determined - e.g. you do not have control over the family that you are born into, your health conditions, etc.
These have already been 'programmed' for your particular life/ 'game'. The way the game ends, and when it will end, has also been set by its creator (Allah SWT).

Imagine that you are 'playing' this computer game, i.e. you are living your life.

During the course of the game, you have the ability to make many choices - e.g should you turn into the left corridor or right corridor, should you enter the castle or turn back, for example. Although the choices are yours, they occur within the confines of the programme of this game.

In the same way, we have the ability to make choices at every turn in life, but at the same time confined, to a certain extent, to a pre-determined plan for our life, set by Allah (SWT).

Hope this brings more clarity, insha Allah.

Sorry for this small diversion everyone.

So does this mean that everyone will suffer different trials in dunya and their extent varies? Can we then say that ppl who do not suffer much trials in dunya are usually going to Hellfire since they didnt suffer much anyways?

this makes no sense to me at all sis. This is a contradiction. If you have free will and God knows that there is only one possible avenue for you to take in life - then where is three choice? NOOOOOOO.

Let me explain. You come to X-roads in life, where you have to choose which of the two paths you will walk, This happens many times in a day. This is where YOU make the choice... Not God. No. God knows all the possibilities and HE can calculate all outcomes, and prepare for them. As HE says, HE is the best of planners...

So let's recap real quick.

1) you have free will
2) Allah has given your life so many choices, that no matter which one you take - HE still knows what the various outcomes will be. You still have a choice, still have free will... but only Allah knows how it all ends.
3) Only three things you cannot change, these are:

a) who and when you marry
b) your income proviso
c) the time and place of your death...

anyone who says BIRTH is part of that - think again, because your soul was alive before your body was.

Also, I have not slept. I am worried about Ersin. just can't keep my eyes shut. And now, it's daylight, (facepalm)

^ Akhee, you are actually in agreement with what has been said.
Please read my post again.

except for:

Only three things you cannot change, these are:

a) who and when you marry
b) your income proviso
c) the time and place of your death...
Theres many other things that we cannot change in out lives - e.g. brother Ersin had no choice with regards to his genetic condition.

As mentioned:

1. Allah KNOWS what you will do (thousands of years before your birth).

2. Allah wrote it down.

3. Allah ALLOWS it to happen.

4. The actual happening of the event.

--> The past/ present and future exists as defined time periods for us, mortals.
But Allah transcends all time.

So, Allah (subhanawataála) KNOWS what YOUR CHOICE will be, before YOU even make it (thousands of years before you even existed).
And He lets you make this choice, out of His mercy - because we are given free-will (within a pre-defined plan set for your life).
^ Hope thats clearer insha Allah.

Yes.

Not at all.

We should remember:

There are 2 routes to Allah Taala….either the road of sabr (patience), or the road of shukr (gratitude).

In actual fact, the test of bounties (shukr) is more difficult than the test of sabr.

In sabr - the person is going through difficulties/ hardships, e.g. illness, death, loss of business, etc. It is these times that will automatically bring him to the door of Allah Taala, even those with weak imaan.

The person strapped to his hospital bed, with tubes and drips, etc….at that time will he be thinking of committing sins?
He’s going to be crying out to Allah….i.e that sickness is a mercy from Allah as well.
Allah Taala is with that person who is sick, i.e it is a bounty as well.

But we are weak, so we ask of Allah not to test us with such.

When it is the road of shukr, Allah is giving that person everything: good health, wealth, children, etc.
Because he is not going through any pain and suffering, he thinks, "Allah is pleased with me".

But this is a bigger test than the test of sabr.
It takes a greater effort to remember to praise and thank Allah (subhanawataála) when things are going really well for us.

Also, we will oneday be accountable for all that we have been blessed with in this dunya:

How did we use our health? -> Was a means for doing good and strengthening this ummah....or did we spend countless hours in front of the TV or abuse this trust with drugs and alcohol?
How did we use our wealth? - Did we support the poor and orphans?.......or did we carelessly waste it on things that attach us to this dunya?
How did we use our intellect?
How did we use every single bounty that has been bestowed upon us?

Can we see how great the test of shukr is?
Theres much more that diverts our remembrance away from Allah......and much more to account for.

Before this thread gets derailed any further, I started a new topic here http://www.islamicboard.com/aqeedah/...free-will.html .

Sorry, the subject of brother Ersin is very sensitive, and I just feel it's more respectful to leave discussions out. To answer your questions is Zaria, no there isn't a way to get a hold of him. imsad I hope he is okay. I'm personally quite heartbroken over all this, as the rest of us close to him are as well. I'd like to stay optimistic though, as that is what he would want :) . Maybe he's taking time out for Ramadan is all.

Please keep him in your duas.

Alhamdulillah, All Praise is only for the Lord of the Worlds, The Beneficient, The Majestic, The Disposer of Affairs, The Most Merciful - Allah Subhaana wa ta'aala...

As this blessed month draws to an end, and we look forward to spending Eid with our families. To celebrate our Ramadhan. To do good deeds and tell good stories... I want to share one here, before Eid, if I may...

...It doesn't seem that long ago now, when I look back to last year Ramadhan, and Eid day, speaking with the msn team we have, of whom, Ersin was the life and soul who kept us all together. I remember us all giving eachtother Eid greetings and sharing our days experiences with family to echother. It was a blessed day, and one that will remain with me for as long as my mind and heart are sound...

...This year, since just before Ramadhan, Ersin logged off, and never logged on again.

Most of you are aware of brother Ersin and his condition, his daily struggles, and the difficulties he had to endure on a daily basis. It may be that being on specialised breathing equipment - and having very very limited movement in his body (just his head and his hands) that coming online became too much for him. It may be that it became so difficult that he was even unable to say goodbye to us.

I have shed many tears because I miss him greatly, as do all of us in the team. Even now I am heavy and my eyes are hot and wet. And it pains me that I will not be able to say Eid Mubarak to him, or to speak to him again.

I am now fearing the worst has happened, which I know is actually a mercy from Allah. But this heart of mine feels too much - because this boy, who is half my years in age - taught me so much. I am indebted to him. He came into my life as a light, at a time when all seemed like darkness.

He infected me with with a truth that I was otherwise, unable to see. He inspired me to be a better man, to believe that I could. He would PM me on another website and always ask if I was ok, if there was anything I needed to talk about. His maturity was something I could never really figure out - all I can really think is that this boy, was truly close to Allah.

I don;t know what has happened to him, none of us do... and not knowing is the worst feeling in the world. It's tearing me apart. I've tried to stay strong. I've tried to be there for the rest in MSN, and I am ashamed to say that as the weeks progressed through Ramadhan, I found myself keeping away from the group more and more.

I am now, at this moment on MSN and two members are letting another infrequent member know about Ersin. We all became emotional and I was reminded of this thread.

We do not know if we will ever speak to Ersin in this world again. It feels like a spear has been driven through all of us. I discovered that I am not as strong as I think I am, that I am soft and all too easy to for me to break down. And I have broken down. because my brother is ??? we do not even know.

Please brothers and sisters, please make a dua for him tonight, that Allah forgives him and increases his good deeds immeasurably, and that if we are not to speak to him again in this world - then let Allah unite us with him in the next, in heaven.

Pray that Allah makes it easy for his parents, and easy for him also - and that if he is alive - then for him not to worry about us as we are worrying about him.

I don;t think I can carry on, i have reached my limit. I'm sorry.

No matter where we came from, or where we want to go, in the end... Innalillahi wa'inna ilaihi ra'jioon.

:salamext: akhee,

This is very sad to hear and I was hoping you might say you had heard from brother Ersin again. Whereever Ersin is and whatever he is going through, we at least have the comfort of knowing that Allaah (swt) is with him and that "Allah is the best guardian, and He is the most merciful of the merciful." [Yusuf: 64].

May Allaah (swt), the Mighty and Majestic, grant Ersin healing, strength and bless him with a long life full of obedience to Allaah (swt). May Allaah (swt) grant him many opportunities to speak to his dear friends again, Aameen!

Assalamu-alaikum,

Im saddened to read this brother.

Just a suggestion:
Do we know which region in Turkey brother Ersin is from?
Then, perhaps we can contact (via email?) the major hospitals from that area to find out if he had been admitted over the last month (specifically the intensive care units).
They may/ may not reveal this, depending on their privacy policies, but insha Allah, if they understand the situation, they may be willing to release at least this information to you.

It may lead to a dead end......but insha Allah its worth a try?

My thoughts and duaas are with your group, as well as his family.
We can not adequately imagine this great trial that his parents and siblings are going through.

May Allah (subhanawataála) make it easy on them and his friends, and reward our dear brother Ersin janaatul firdaus......where he will be given such peace and strength of body, that he would not even remember the difficulties that he endured in this dunya.
Ya Allah, ya Mujeeb! you are the responder of duaas, especially on this blessed night of Eid.
Ameen.

you too are a good brother, proof is in the pudding. I doubt the members here know but you have always spoken up for the Muslims on the other forum and for that you have my respect and admiration. A real truther.

I really feel honoured to have made your acquaintance :)

Ersin doesn't come online as much nowadays since he is still suffering a lot. However, he's home and that's what matters the most. He's around his loved ones and familiar surroundings - that itself is a great comfort. This makes me feel more relieved, because when I thought about him being in hospital for that length of time, it really broke me.

That boy is very special. I don't know how to describe it. Words fail me, and rightly so :)

I hope you are doing well insha Allah and that your Eid was full of fun and laughter.
Allah is more closer to you than you can imagine and your source of peace and comfort in your trials, and I know you already know that.

I want to take this opportunity to ask for your forgiveness if any of my words/actions or lack of support
have caused you pain in any way. I already know your kind heart will forgive anybody, but I feel better for asking.

Take care and keep strong. We will meet in Jannah insha Allah. Ameen.

Sister Snowlfake, your post made me cry.

I don't know what else to write. All I can say is - I love that boy as if he was my own. Yet I respect him as if he is much older than me. He taught me things others weren't able to. And was a comfort to me in a time when I faced a VERY big trial in my life.

Thank you for your post sister. May Allah keep you and yours in HIS endless favour always, Ameen.

Masha Allah. Akhi, why not go to meet brother Ersin? It would mean the world to him and us. Don't worry how. Just make the intention akhi. Where's there a good will there's a way insha Allah.

Thank you for your post sister. May Allah keep you and yours in HIS endless favour always, Ameen.
Jazak Allahu khayr brother, and you and yours. Ameen thumma ameen.

Ersin just came online a while ago, and entered our group on MSN after another absence.

they (doctors) say im ok this disease is progressing, i cant taste food or cant breath and i have heart problems

still Alhamdulilah:)

i went through a lot (in hospital)
it took him a very long time to type the above. His movements in his hands seem limited now. Before, his hands and his head were not as affected as the rest of his body, but now it seems his conditioning is really worsening

He said more and so did we, but I will only post this.

It was just me, bro Jedi_Mindset and him in the group when we chatted.

Though I am saddened by his worsening condition, I am happy he is still with us and thinking of us. He thanks you all for your dua's and feels encouraged by the love you have all shown him.

Please continue to keep him in your dua.

كشف ال ض
ر#ك وغفر ذنبك وعفاك في دينك وجسدك

Transliteration: Ka shafallaahu durrak. Wa ghafara zambak. Wa 'aafaaka fee deenika wa jasadik.

Translation: May Allah remove your pain, forgive your sins, and grant you strength in your Deen and your health until your death.

Dua

O Allah, we are spiritually sick and we are physically sick.
O my Allah, so many of our brothers and sisters, and our parents are sick and ailing. They are in
hospitals. Some are in nursing homes and old-age homes.
O Allah, grant shifa to those who are sick and ailing.
O my beloved Allah, shifa is in Your hands.
O Allah, we know that there is effect in du’aa and there is effect in medication, but O Allah, shifa is
in Your hands.
O Allah, we know that sometimes sickness is a rahmat and a blessing in a disguised form, but we are
extremely weak.
O Allah, even if such sickness is a rahmat…O Allah, change it to the rahmat of good health.
…But O Allah, we know that most of our sicknesses, depression and anxieties are because of our
sins.
O Allah, grant us shifa from all sicknesses and ailments – physical and spiritual.
O Allah, bless us with physical health and spiritual health.

Ameen.

Please keep my bro Ersin in your dua.

Assalamu-alaikum my dear brother,

SubhanAllah, I am soo happy to read your post, and to know that you are now back home.

Akhee, this has probably been one of the toughest years for you. And there is none on this forum (at present) who can even begin to imagine your struggles.....and more importantly your amazing will-power and strength that has kept you fighting through these difficult days.

You are an inspiration for us all my young brother!

Because, no matter what trials each one of us may be currently experiencing, you remind us of how trivial they really are.....

Allah indeed tests His slaves in manners that He KNOWS, that they can individually bear.
So, your trials tells us just how special you are to our Rabb......and just how strong you actually are!
Certainly, its not the strength in physique that matters most.....but strength in belief and faith in Allah (subhanawataála).

Akhee, may your days be spent in the constant remembrance of Allah Taa'la.
While some of us are caught up in the madness of this dunya......alhamdulillah, you can spend more time in zikru-Allah, and sending salaat and salaam upon our Nabi (sallalahu alaihi wasalam).

This life is just a bridge to the next eternal, everlasting one.
So what if (the structure of) your bridge was a little shakey : )

Getting to the other side, with Allah being most pleased with us, is all that REALLY matters my brother.

So dont ever despair or lose hope in the plans that Allah (subhanawataála) has for you.

If we only knew how immensely Allah rewards those who struggled in this life - bearing it gracefully and patiently for His sake.......we would all wish that we had been tried even harder!

May Allah grant you physical and spiritual comfort and ease, and reward you and your parents abundantly in this dunya and the next.
AMEEN

Its been great hearing from you again! : ) MashaAllah.

We miss you Akhi!!

Ps. I haven't forgotten about the photos I promised of those fat horses *sheep grin*, it's just that, the horses are a bit on the skinny side here recently >_> . As soon as I spot a fat one, I'll post it for you insha Allah :)
