Hi I'm from south asia, my mums first name is kalaarma, this is recorded on her passport, on some other documentation there is only one a, kalarma. I'm trying to harmise her papers and make them all the same.

Now I'm stuck in a pickle, don't even know if this is a muslim name. This is such a pickle that it might be worthwhile just to change her name by deed poll (UK name changing convention), but I'll only do that if her current name isn't a muslim name of course.

ANy ideas?

You can change your name if you want. But bro, why you think you have a right to change your mommy name?.

what does the name mean? No, she does not have to change her name, unless it really insults Islamic principles or means something blasphemous or refers to idols.

there is nothing as "Muslim" name. All names are valid if they have beautiful meanings and dont refer to filth or idols.
