Annual Path to Piety Conference


With so many role models, some made role models by society, some self-made, some limited to certain spheres of life, some for a certain era, it is imperative that we have role models in our lives that will stand up to every scrutiny, be relevant to every sphere of life and most importantly stand the test of time. Besides the Prophets (may Allah shower his blessings on them all) there is one single generation of humans whose very existence gave them the status of being honourably mentioned in the Quran, and thereby until the end of time,; ""Allah is pleased with the first to lead the way from the Muhaajireen, the Ansar, and those who followed them with sincerity and they are please with Him. He has prepared for them such a paradise beneath which rivers flow, in which they shall live forever. This is the ultimate success." [Surah Taubah: 100] . Such is their status that millions, if not billions, of people name their beloved children after them in the hope that their children grow up to become like the sahabah they were named after.


The Sahaba (may Allah be pleased with the all) were the greatest generation to ever exist in human history. The comprehensive culmination of their unique, distinct, yet united and coexistent personalities brought forth the greatest single generation that ever existed at one time. Amongst them the Sahabiyat – women companions – were the noble women who were the contemporaries of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Their achievements are found in every sphere of that momentous period in the history and their influence spread across the world all the way to the modern era and will continue to have an impact on the world till the very end. They were to be found in the political arena, the battlefield, in the field of education, in the courts of Islamic jurisprudence, in the interpretation of Shari’ah, in charity and caring, in trade and commerce, in agriculture, in medicine, in nursing and numerous other fields. In short there was no sphere that did not benefit from their spiritual strength, their selflessness, their intellect, their wisdom and courage and their gentle yet firm strength of character.


In Masjid Quba's 3rd annual sisters conference distinguished speakers will speak about how Muslimahs can create, maintain and build a strong unbreakable bond between themselves and the Sahabah/Sahabiyyat (may Allah be pleased with them all) whether she’s at home, work or studying, married or single, a mother, daughter, wife or sister.


Mufti Abdur Rahman Ibn Yusuf


Shaykh Abdur-Rahman ibn Yusuf, born and raised in London, studied in England, India, South Africa, and Syria. After memorizing the Holy Qur’ān, he continued his education, earning a BA in Islamic Studies from the University of Johannesburg, and graduated from Darul Uloom in Bury, England, with a degree and formal authorization in the Islamic Sciences, and specialized in legal judgment (iftā’) at Mazahir Uloom Saharanpur, India. This was followed by a Masters in Islamic Studied from SOAS (University of London). To date, he has written the well-received Fiqh al-Imam, a guide to the Ḥanafī position on disputed matters of prayer, and is the translator of Hasan Basri’s Prayers for Forgiveness, Abu Hanifa’sAl-Fiqh al-Akbar, Provisions for the Seekers, Salat & Salam: In Praise of Allah’s Most Beloved, co-authored Reflections of Pearls, and has recently edited Ghazali’s Beginning of Guidance (Bidayat al-Hidaya). The Masjid is honoured that he presently serves here as their Imam at Masjid e Quba and continues to work on scholarly publications through White Thread Press while pursuing his research for a Phd at SOAS. Many of his lectures are available online through ZamZam Academy.


Ustadha Umme Huzayfah


Umme Huzayfah (of Zam Zam Academy & wife of Mufti Abdur Rahman Mangera) was raised in the UK where she attended Jami’at ul-Imam, a madrasa in Bradford, England for 5 years. There, she completed the ‘Alimah course of study covering many of the Islamic sciences which she studied exclusively with female scholars. After graduating, she continued to teach Tajwid, Arabic and Hadith at the same seminary. Umme Huzayfah, a mother of four, also previously taught Islamic classes in USA and at a children’s school affiliated with the Islamic Society of Santa Barbara, USA. She specializes in the fiqh of menstruation (hayd), post-natal bleeding (nifas) and dysfunctional uterine bleeding (istihada). Currently she teaches the women's Advanced Islamic Studies course and the Aalimayaat Course at Masjid-e-Quba as well as classes at Zam Zam Academy.


Ustadha Bint Ahmed


Ustadha Bint Ahmad is a scholar, teacher, and advisor, born in London, UK. After an intensive study of seven years in Islamic sciences (including Qur’anic exegesis, prophetic traditions, Islamic theology, Islamic jurisprudence) and Arabic language, in 2007 she completed the ‘ilmiyyah course under the guidance and instruction of Shaykh Muhammad Bilal ibn Isma’il of Madrasah al-Zahra, UK. Upon graduating, Ustadha Bint Ahmad continued studying receiving authorisations (ijazah) in the prophetic traditions (notably the sahih of Imam Bukhari) and Islamic theology. Since graduating she continues seeking knowledge from various prestigious scholars. Ustadha is well known for delivering inspirational lectures and courses to a range of sisters in masajid, universities and conferences. In 2009 she founded Al Arqam Academy which caters for women who cannot commit to full time study, or live in remote areas and want to further their understanding of the deen. She focuses on highlighting the importance of Islamic spirituality, morals and social conduct. At present Ustadha teaches the Islamic sciences and Arabic at Madrasah Al Zahra ‘Ilmiyyah Institute and Al Arqam Academy and she is the main course instructor and author at Al- Muhsinaat Islamic courses. She has also taught online classes at The Rahmah Foundation.


Ustadha Umme Uthman


Ustadha Umme Uthman graduated in 2010 from Noorul Islam’s Aalimayaat program having, over 5 years, studied numerous Islamic sciences such as Qur’anic exegesis, hadith, Islamic theology, Islamic jurisprudence and the Arabic language. Since graduating she regularly gives speeches in the local community and has also taught at Noorul Islam. Currently she teaches the Islamic Studies Programme at Lantern of Knowledge Institute, Leyton. Additionally she is a Islamic Studies Curriculum Coordinator at Ad-Deen School in Ilford.
