Picture me. With your eyes.

Eyes, the two magnificent orbs, just like the Sun and the moon. They shine and then they mirror the reflections. They shine with tears, and then reflect the emotions within one’s head.

Enclosed round dens. Cages of trapped visions. Peeking at the world through the only window: the pupil. The small conduit through which eyes comes to life. Images are imprinted, etched, engraved into the photoreceptors. The memories, the colors, the emotions, all witnessed through the sea of darkness of the cage, all passing through a tiny window. A window of hope. A window of life through which soul passes from birth to death. All witnessed by these eyes.
Colored eyes with colorful irises. Blue lanterns, green flames, all throwing light into the circular cage of darkness. I peek in at the prisoners within through the tiny beautiful windows. A prison of visions accumulated, counted carefully, from fetus to death. The orange retina, shining like the solstice Sun. Glowing, alive with red streams, staring at me, and letting me look at it. Full of life. A sea full of proteins and cytokines. The pulsating optic nerve housed like a Sunflower, beating, throbbing, attracting insects of images.

Hearts beat, optic nerves pulsate. At the frequency out of our control. Everything else in life we look at by our eyes also seems out of control.

A very insightful peice. I love the imagery and particularly liked the extended metaphor of the eyes as cages housing the imprisoned components of the soul. Good work. I'm looking forward to further pieces from you.
