"Invite (all) to the way of your Lord with wisdom... " [Quran 16:125]

It was the Prophet’s (saw) sunnah to go to where the people gathered and invite them to Islam. Will you not follow in the Messenger’s (saw) blessed footsteps?

One doesn't need training to do dawah.

All you need to do is print out some leaflets / pamphlets and give them out to people. If anyone asks questions whose answer you don't know, simply refer them to some website like http://www.islam-guide.com where they can get more information.

You can make your own leaflets. I use MS Publisher program to make leaflets. It's really easy to use. If you can't use that, just type information about Islam in MS Word and print it out. Make sure that it's not too many pages. One or two pages is good. and the font is large enough to be read but not too big. Size 14 is good.

You can also make advertisement type leaflets with something like : Do you know what Islam is? Go to http://www.islam-guide.com to find out

or

Do you know there are scientific miracles in the Quran? Go to http://www.islam-guide.com for more information

Below I will be posting some articles that you can print out (either using Word or Publisher) and give out to people. Just copy them into the program and print.

Here's an article I had written a while ago. It was written mainly for Muslims so contains information about Quran Commentary too. You can give it to Muslims or can edit it for nonmuslims.

--

What is Islam? Some basic information about the Religion Islam:

Islam is the religion of God. It was the religion of all the Prophets and Messengers from the beginning of time. It is the only religion acceptable to God and is the only way to get to Heaven.

Allah says in the Holy Quran: و من يبتغ غير الإسلام دينا ً فلن يقبل منه و هو في الآخرة من الخاسرين

If anyone desires a religion other than Islam, it will not be accepted from him and in the hereafter he will be one of the losers. Surah Ali-Imran, (3: 85)

Islam is a monotheistic religion. In Islam we believe that there is only one God. The Arabic name of God is Allah. God is one, single, and unique. He has no son or partner. He is the creator of everything. Only one God deserves to be worshipped and obeyed.

Allah says in the Holy Quran, chapter 112: قل هو الله أحد . الله صمد . لم يلد و لم يولد. و لم يكن له كفوا ً أحد

Say, He is God, the One and Only. God, the Eternal, Absolute. He begets not, nor is He begotten. And there is none like Him. (chapter 112)

Thus to become a Muslim, belief in one God Allah is necessary. Those who don’t believe in God or who believe in more than one God or who believe that God has a son or partner are not believers.

God is very Kind. One proof of God’s Kindness is that God sent Prophets and Messengers عليهم السلام for the guidance of people.

God gave Prophets and Messengers Holy Books. God didn’t leave people in darkness.

To be Muslims we have to believe in all the previous Prophets, Messengers, and Holy Books.

Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم was the final Messenger and Prophet of God. He was the messenger of God for all people in every place and time up to the Day of Judgment.

Since he is the final messenger of God, there is no Prophet or Messenger after him.

Belief in the finality of Prophethood is a basic Islamic belief. Those who don’t believe that Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم was the final Prophet and final Messenger of Allah are not Muslims.

The Holy Quran is the final Book of God. Holy Quran was revealed to the final Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم . It contains guidance and a complete way of life for all mankind from the time of the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم up to the Day of Judgment.

Furthermore, the Quran has been preserved by Allah so it will never be changed. Allah says in the Quran, Chapter 15 (Al-Hijr), verse 9: إنا نحن نزلنا الذكر و إنا له لحافظون

We have, without doubt, sent down the Message [Quran], and We will assuredly guard it.

As Muslims we have to believe in the previous Prophets / Messengers and the previous Holy Books as well. However, the Holy Books we must believe in are the original books that were revealed by God. Since the previous Books were changed and the originals do not exist anymore, therefore, we don’t follow the ones existing today.

Some of the previous Holy Books were: انجيل Gospel revealed to Prophet Jesus, توراة Torah revealed to Prophet Moses, and زبور Psalms revealed to Prophet David عليهم السلام .

Once again, these books don’t exist in their original forms so we don’t follow them. Quran, along with the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم , are enough for our guidance , so we should only rely on the Quran and Sunnah to get guidance.

Those who hold fast to the Quran and Sunnah will not be led astray. The Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم said in a hadith that he was leaving behind two things. If we hold fast to them, we will not go astray. These two things are the Quran and the Sunnah of the Final Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم .

Reading and understanding the Holy Quran is necessary to have a strong foundation. A strong foundation will keep you from going astray. It is important to build a strong foundation and not be a lone sheep in the herd which can easily be led astray. Therefore to keep ourselves from being misled we should avoid reading books of other religions and should instead concentrate on reading the Holy Quran and its explanation (commentary تفسير ).

The Holy Quran is a very easy book to understand and to get guidance from. Allah says in Surah Al-Qamar: و لقد يسرنا القرآن للذكر فهل من مدّكر

But We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember; then is there any that will receive admonition? (54:22)

The Quran is the Criterion فرقان so it helps you differentiate between right and wrong. Allah Himself called the Quran Criterion in Surah Al-Furqan (25th chapter). (Criterion is a standard to judge between good and evil.) Allah says: تبارك الذي نزل الفرقان على عبده ليكون للعالمين نذيرا

Blessed is He who sent down the Criterion to His servant, that it may be an admonition to all creatures.(25:1)

A good explanation of the Quran that you can read is Tafseer Ibn Kathir, تفسير ابن كثير . The commentary (explanation) of the Quran should be read to properly understand the Quran.

To be a Believer مؤمن we have to believe in all the pillars of faith (أركان الإيمان). Those who don’t believe in any one of the pillars of faith are not believers. The pillars of faith are:

Belief in one God, belief in Angels, belief in Messengers, belief in Holy Books, belief in the Last Day and Judgment Day, and belief in the Divine Destiny, the good and bad thereof. See Surah Al-Baqarah (chapter 2) verse 285.

We must also believe in the reward in Paradise for the righteous believers and punishment in Hell for the Disbelievers and wrongdoers.

When we believe in the pillars of faith, we are believers or المؤمنون. Believers will go to Paradise and nonbelievers will not. In Islam, only the belief in God is not enough to become a believer and enter Paradise. It is also necessary to believe in the final Messenger of God Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم , to believe in the angels, to believe in the Holy Quran (the final Holy Book), to believe in the previous Holy Books and the previous Prophets, to believe in the last Day and the Accounting on the Day of Judgment, to believe in the reward in Paradise and punishment in Hell, and to believe in the Divine Destiny.

Those who believe in these and do good deeds are on the Straight Path الصراط المستقيم . Those who don’t are not on the Straight Path.

الصراط المستقيم is the Straight Path. To be on the Straight Path, the correct Islamic belief is very necessary.
Only Muslims are on the Straight Path. Righteous deeds are also necessary to be on the Straight Path. However, only good deeds are not enough. Good deeds will only be accepted from a person if he/she has the correct Islamic faith.

See the following verses of the Holy Quran: Chapter 4, verses 150 – 151, Chapter 5, verse 93, Chapter 16, verse 97 for more information.

Who is Prophet Muhammad Peace and Blessings of God be upon him

You have seen many comics / cartoons about Prophet Muhammad—God’s Peace and Blessings be on him. But do you know who Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم is? Read on to find out.

Final Messenger of God

Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم was the final Prophet and final Messenger of Allah. God says in Chapter 33, verse 40 of the Holy Quran (God’s final Book for mankind’s guidance): ...But he is the Messenger of Allah and the Last of the Prophets. And Allah has full knowledge of all things.

Excellent Character

Prophet Muhammad was at the exalted standard of character. Chapter 68, The Pen, verse 4 states: And surely you (O Muhammad) are on an exalted standard of character.

Even today, the world has witnessed that Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم was the number 1 greatest man on earth, even surpassing Prophet Jesus عليهم السلام (God’s peace be on him) who was set as number 2!

No one can dishonor Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم because Almighty God has guaranteed honor for him.

God says in chapter 63, Al-Munafiqoon (The Hypocrites), verse 8: … But honor, power, and glory belong to Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم ) and to the believers … .

Given Miraculous Book
The Holy Quran, the final Revelation of God to mankind, was revealed to Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم over 1,400 years ago. The Holy Quran is a miraculous statement and a proof and evidence of the Prophethood of Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم . Furthermore, it is a self-witness book that it cannot be a human statement. It is a divine statement, that is, the Word of God Allah. Today, the Holy Quran is a challenge to the most modern scientists. See the following facts in the Holy Quran. These facts were revealed over 1400 years ago in the Holy Quran but are discovered by scientists in the present era.

  • Stages of development of fetus, chapter 23 – Al-Mo’minoon, verses 12—14 and chapter 22 - Hajj, verse 5.
  • Pain-sensitive nerve endings located in the skin, chapter 4 - Al-Nisa, verse 56.
  • Motion of the sun in space, chapter 36 –Yasin, verse 38.
  • Increase in the vastness of the universe, chapter 51 – Al-Dhariyaat, verse 47.
  • Cure in honey, chapter 16 –Al-Nahl, verse 69.
  • The Big Bang Theory, chapter 21 –Al-anbiya, verse 30
  • Miraculous preservation of the Holy Quran, chapter 15 –Al-Hijr, verse 9.
  • Fetus in three darknesses in the womb, chapter 39 –Al-Zumar, verse 6.

You can find many other miraculous statements in the Holy Quran which science is discovering now.

Divinely Guided

The Character of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم was a miracle. He was divinely guided. Even his enemies called him As-saadiq (the truthful) and Al-Ameen (the trustworthy).

  • Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم was the ruler of the Muslim nation but he fed others before he ate himself. He was never proud.
  • He fought against the oppressors to free the weak and the poor people.
  • He called mankind to the obedience and worship of the One, Single, and Unique God—The Lord of the worlds—so that mankind might be saved from the everlasting Hellfire.
  • He took care of orphans, widows, and the poor and weak people and protected them from the cruel unjust people.
  • He followed the order of God Allah and gave the notice of war to those who charged debtors to pay interest on loans as per chapter 2, verse 279 of the Holy Quran.
  • He taught to give a beautiful loan without interest and also to give charity to poor people.
  • The Holy Wars he fought were always in the battlefield with the transgressing attackers confronting enemies and never with the inhabitants in the cities or villages. Civilians were never killed in wars.
  • He had been patient for 12 1/2 years, finally migrating from his birthplace to escape the cruel transgressors who wouldn’t let them live with their new religion.
  • He conquered Makkah without a battle or war. He was a winner against all attackers and never tortured prisoners or the defeated armies. Due to his kind behavior, most prisoners and defeated people accepted islam.
  • He gave freedom to slaves in a wise, divine way.
  • He banned prostitution and illegal sex relations out of wedlock. This resulted in restoring the rights of women and children. As by marriage, the fathers were legally obliged to take responsibility of their wives and children, so oppression on women came to an end.
  • He gave women legal and inheritance rights as per divine instruction.
  • He made pious, strong, and stable society free of crime and injustice.

The enemies of humanity have always been against the Final Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم but he has been and will be the winner here and in the Hereafter.

Allah promised an endless reward for him: And verily for you (O Muhammad) will be an endless reward. Chapter 68, The Pen, verse 3.

And moreso if people haven't done da'wah in their own communities first. I wonder how this will be done. People swooped upon as they leave Olympic venues? The police I doubt will be allowing tables to be set up on the street near the venues, as flow must be kept clear, and any kind of "targetting" of Olympic visitors outside venues may not go down too well, and will reflect badly on Muslims, giving the opposite effect.

Surely our da'wah shouldn't rely on outside events such as the Olympics? If so, there should have been a campaign to do da'wah during Jubilee street parties, or indeed in the London Venues. Olympics or no Olympics shouldn't make a difference, and that shouldn't be a deciding or stimulating factor in doing da'wah. If someone becomes a Muslim while here, through speaking to a Muslim, all well and good though, alhamdulillah.

On a different note, nice da'wah article in posts 3 and 4. You might like to see this leaflet also: http://www.islamicboard.com/general/...let-islam.html

I think it's a good idea to preach to olympics visitors. you don't need to set up tables, just have a few hundred leaflets and give them to passersby. (you should always do this, everyday. maybe the olympics dawah will awaken preaching in Muslims. ). everybody uses such events to advance their cause, which is why they have so many advertisements during such events. if you have money, then buy advertising space and put up an ad about Islam in the stadium or where there are lots of visitors. if not, then giving out leaflets is a less expensive way to preach.

and nobody is going to have a bad feeling about Islam if you give out leaflets to visitors. why so pessimistic? these ppl are there on visit with lots of freetime and will be happy to receive some reading material.

Salam aleikoum Olympic guests
How to be a positive Muslim
Dear Brothers and Sisters as you know, the Olympic and Paralympic games are going to be held in London starting this month, (the Olympics and part of Paralympics will take part in the month of Ramadhan).
By the mercy of ALLAH this event is taking place during the blessed month of Ramadhan (fans from all the world will come to London) to give us as Muslims of Britain a great opportunity to show our faith to the world especially youth people.
How can we use this opportunity:
1) By showing a warm welcome to them, distributing books and flyers especially to non Muslim guests
2) opening the mosques for every body and getting ready to talk about Islam to non Muslims.
3) Iftar will be an excellent opportunity to welcome people (use it for Muslims and even non Muslims), Taraweeh (and the time after Taraweeh) as well should be used to interact and communicate with the London guests.
4) make your area (the front of your house, the mosques, the front of your business) all clean.
5) Communicate with the guests all the time, be first to help (if they need help such as showing directions, locations etc.) meanwhile call them to Islam
Dear Brothers and sisters hundreds of thousands of people are coming to visit our city during this special event (we may not have such occasion an other time in our remaining life) lets use it positively and creatively.
we believe we are holding the truth let us share it with people of the world, showing the beauty of Islam is our responsibility in our attitudes and behaviours our positive contribution in this society and towards our guests will have a big impacts on youth people of the world
Let us be positive, let the world know who we truly are.
Jazakum ALLAH khairan

^totally agree. This is a great time to earn rewards. remember, good deeds done in Ramadan have much more reward than those done at other times.

Since the Olympics are being held in Ramadan, we the Muslims have the opportunity to do dawah work in Ramadan and earn lots of rewards.

do make it a priority this Ramadan to do dawah. It's really easy. Just photocopy leaflets about Islamic information and take them with you whenever you leave the house. then give them out to passersby or place them on cars, etc.

Ramadan Mubarak!

no doubt there will be plenty of opportunity for muslims in the areas holding events to meet new people or at least come into contact with them.
that alone is a form of dawah.
because we already know what a pious bunch of people you are.

lets just hope nobody hijacks the Olympics to further there own cause.. that would turn the masses away faster than anything.. 100m sprint.

either way the world will be watching. lets see exactly what you can achieve in the name of islam.

"Invite (all) to the way of your Lord with wisdom... " [Quran 16:125]

that should be remembered and recalled often.
