fasting your thoughts please

so people what is the consensus on opening and closing of fasts?

i know we will all go by the mosque timetables but never the less.

i know that we are able to eat until dawn or the first light of dawn but how about opening fasts?

thats a little more difficult to easily recognise.

i know its not relevant but some helpful answers would be appreciated.
