The competition, now into its 15th edition, is held every year under the orders and patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The Holy Quran Award competition go under way at the Cultural and Scientific Association in Al Mamzar area of Dubai.

Asslamu Aliakum,

I dislike these competition. Contestants may be motivated for the wrong reasons. I'm just sharing my opinion and not advocating to ban them.

I think its a good way to improve yourself. I understand you have your own opinion and your entitled to that, but competitions like these enables a person to know at what level their tajweed is at according to the rest of the world, then use that to help others.
