Im not going to engage you on a back and forth on this point, but really, studying Islam from a single source creates a very black and white, tunnel-visioned understanding of the religion. We need to properly study the religion through a methodology and
engage fiqh before we jump to simplistic conclusions. We need to have a dynamic understanding of the religion that is beyond a simple sunnah/bid'ah understanding in issues of fiqh - that was not the methodology of the scholars for centuries. Unfortunately, it's become a recent trend amongst certain groups.
For example, for the issue above, Ibn Hajar in subul as-salam mentioned the narration of Ibn 'Umar (ra) and the narration of Ibn Abbas (ra) and others and said that even though the narration of Ibn 'Umar (ra) individually has a weakness, when all the narrations are brought together, they strengthen the status of the hadith to hasan. When it's hasan, it makes this practice of wiping the face after dua' acceptable thus it's not a bid'ah.
