Salaam to all my brothers and sisters.
Simple question.
Doesn't matter who you hug first on Eid (Fitr or Adha), just wondering.
I'll start off; I hug my father first.

I just hug the guy sitting next to me in the masjid after the Eid salaah and Khutbah has been made in the morning.
Lucky brother gets a hug from me before my parents do :D

I'm not really touchy-friendly with anyone, but parents I hug for sure.
Of course because I am at the masjid for Eid prayers, I hug my dad and brothers and friends/uncles/cousins before hugging my Mom who's in the kitchen making some chicken-biryani on Eid :)

I just hug my little girl.
The Eid prayers I've attended, the sisters only hug their relatives.

Who is the first person you hug on Eid?
Family (Mom, Dad, Brother or sister etc.)? Your spouse or child? The Imam? A friend? Or a Muslim Brother or sister in the masjid who sits closest to you? Or maybe it's your pet?

Same here, in Palembang. I think now it's become a tradition of Indonesia :D
Aha, anyway we only do this to the elder. ^

Not every elder, actually. My younger brother told me "Sungkem to you? No way!" ;D
By the way, how you call "sungkem" in Palembang language?

It's not common in my family to hug each other so I can't say I will be doing much hugging. However I do have two baby nieces, so I plan to hug the cutest one of the two only :hiding:

family only, sometimes random strangers wanna hug me, can't blame em, eid day I have a lot of Nur coz I am not hungry, I sample mums' samoosa's before that.:shade:
Am I the only one who thinks the eid hug should be done standing on only one leg??? now imagine how much more sincere that hug will be compared to a two legged affair????:bump1:

In Malaysia we practice similar to what bro Ardianto illustrated on the first page. We normally start with our parents first (usually who is available and in most cases it is the father, then the mother) then it is the most senior members of the family before gravitating to distant relatives etc.
Once married, usually it starts with the spouse and then to parents and so on....
For me it would be my wife and kids first as they are with me, then to my mum (as my dad passed away 20 years ago) and then my grandma, followed by uncles and aunties.... Usually it is hugs and kisses too!:hiding:

As-salamu 3laikum,
This year the first person I hugged was my friend who came to pick me up. Last year, I don't remember, it may have been a friend's mother or maybe some sisters I didn't know.
