The book of Job, chapter 1, verse 6:

One day the heavenly beings came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them. (New Revised Standard Version)

Now it happened on the day when the sons of God came to present themselves before Yahweh, that Satan also came among them. (World English Bible)

There was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before Jehovah; and Satan came also among them. (Darby)

And the day is, that sons of God come in to station themselves by Jehovah, and there doth come also the Adversary in their midst. (Young’s Literal)

And there was a day when the sons of the gods came together before the Lord, and the Satan came with them. (Basic Bible)

One day the members of the heavenly court came to present themselves before the LORD, and the Accuser, Satan, came with them. (New Living Translation)

How can Satan possibly be arriving along with the angels if he is an angel himself? Is there any possible way to wiggle out of this fix without effectually admitting that the title “son of God” doesn’t always have to be taken very literally?
