Distinctive Features of a Witch/Sahir/Black-Magician

If you find one of the following characteristics in a person who treats people suffering from sihr (Witchcraft) or other related illnesses, then this person is definitely a sahir (Witch).

  1. He asks the patient his and his Mother’s names.
  2. He takes a sweaty garment from the patient e.g. a piece of cloth that is in contact with skin, like a vest, cap, handkerchief etc. He takes it as a tracker for the jinn [Demon] to follow.
  3. He sometimes asks for an animal, with certain specifications, in order to slaughter it without initiating the slaughter with the Name of Allah, He may use the sacrificial blood to stain some painful areas of the patient, or throw the carcass in on a ruined site. One of the Methods to bring about a Demon (See Contents Above).
  4. He writes incantations. Mostly Polytheistic and full of Praise to the Chief Demon.
  5. He recites unclear incantations. He might recite Qur’anic verses, only to take the trust of the Patient, but then he starts to recite the polytheistic words to praise the demons.
  6. He gives the patient a hijab (incantation written on a piece of paper), which contains squares within which letters or figures are written. Figures and mixture of Integers also act as a Portal for the jinn, also called ‘KEY’ or ‘CHARM’.
  7. He instructs the patient to isolate himself/herself in a dark room and not to talk to people for a specific period of time. The common people call it alhijba (act of remaining indoors for a long time).
  8. He sometimes instructs the patient not to touch water for a specific period of time, usually forty days. This indicates that this particular Jinn, working for the sahir, is Christian.
  9. He gives the patient some items to bury in the ground. It is always the KEY/CHARM (portal for the jinn).
  10. He gives the patient some pieces of paper to burn and use as incense for his or her body. Jinn are attracted and also repelled by incense, depending upon what kind of incense is burnt.
  11. He murmurs unclear words.
  12. He sometimes informs the patient of his name, his town and the purpose of the visit. That he knows from the Qareen of that person (see Types of Jinn in Contents).
  13. He writes broken letters on a piece of paper (hijab) or on a plate made of white porcelain, and instructs the patient to dissolve the writing in water, and then drink it.

If you discover that this man is a sahir, do not go to him; or else you are the person whom the Prophet (pbuh) describes in the following hadith:
“Whoever goes to a soothsayer and believes what he says, has disbelieved in the Message sent to Muhammad (pbuh); and his prayers will not be accepted for forty days.”

As-salamu 3laikum,

Please can you tell me where you got this information from? I really need to know why a Muslim would go to such a person and what to say to someone who has done this.

It is good that you are warning people about the dark arts. Those who use the darkness for gain have no problem in targeting those blissfully unaware of the evil that surrounds us.

Indeed.

“They followed what the shayateen (devils) gave out (falsely of the magic) in the lifetime of Sulayman. Sulayman did not disbelieve, but the shayateen (devils) disbelieved, teaching men magic and such things that came down at Babylon to the two angels, Haroot and Maroot, but neither of these two (angels) taught anyone (such things) till they had said, ‘We are for trial, so disbelieve not (by learning this magic from us).’ And from these (angels) people learn that by which they cause separation between a man and his wife, but they could not thus harm anyone except by Allah’s leave. And they learn that which harms them and profits them not. And indeed they knew that the buyers of it (magic) would have no share in the Hereafter. And how bad indeed was that for which they sold their ownselves, if they but knew. And if they had believed and guarded themselves from evil and kept their duty to Allah, far better would have been the reward from their Lord, if they but knew!” [2:102-103]

It is really good to be able to identify someone who is practising magic.

If we have knowledge we can take the good path that pleases Allah swa. In sha Allah.

If anyone wants to read more about magic please download the below e-book;

Shaykh Muhammad Mitwalli ash-Sha’rawi

Magic, the temptation of the devil, and envy, the temptation of the ego has always been found in the societies of people. And therefore, naturally, these two threats to decency are being dealt with in the last revelation from Allah to His creation, and the last Messenger, may Allah give peace and blessings to all of them, similarly dealt with these topics in his advice to his contemporaries.

Based on the two prime sources for muslims, Sheikh Sha'rawi guides us through a deeper and more profound understanding of the origin of these two evils, and gives us ways to deal with them.

Shaykh Muhammad Mitwalli ash-Sha’rawi was born in a middle class family in the village of Daqadus in Egypt. Educated at the famous Al Azhar University where scholars such contributed Shaykh Ahmad Yusuf Nagati , Shaykh Ahmad `Imara , Shaykh Ibrahim Hamrush, Saykh Muhammad Mustafa al-Maraghi . Shaykh al-Sha'rawi mentions other non-Azharites whose knowledge he benefited from including Imam Hassan al-Banna who had a unique mythology of lecturing. Shaykh al-Sha'rawi started his Azharite teaching work in Tanta's institute of religious studies. He was then transferred to equivalent institutes in al-Zaqaziq, Alexandria and King Abd al-Aziz al-Sa'ud university in Makkah He retired from the Azharite career in 1976. In the same year he was appointed by president Sadat as a minister of Waqf. He stayed in that position for two years. In 1980 he started his famous Friday lessons on the Egyptian television. His speaches in Qur'an interpretation (Tafsir) attracted a massive audience that is probably unparalleled by any contemporary Azharite.

...for those who don't read:

The Sorcerers Plot:

A video by Saudi Arabia's Government Agency: "General Presidency Of the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice", talks about sorcery and black magic from Islamic perspective. Translated to English subtitles. it exposes the evil doings of sorcerers who commit blasphemy to witch people and harm them. This is real not fiction; it is from Saudi Arabia's government. Saudi Arabia has special police to track and persecute sorcerers. Many diseases that science can't cure are caused by sorcery, in the west it is generally regarded as psychiatrist disease and only numbed by drugs with no cure. If you suffer from a disease and all your tests are normal, then you are probably affected by black magic or the evil eye.
