Asalaamu Alaikum I have a complicated question to ask on behalf of another My friend had committed zina and fornication the past... she was not practicing and had talked of this to a great number of people as a means of boasting about her sins. She later repented for the zina and also constantly repents for all the mistakes she made (but not specifically thinking of how she also talked of a sin to many people). She is now married but her husband is not aware of hr past. She is concerned whether her boasting would be considered a confesssion of her sin and therefore does she need go get the flogging punishment. Or should she consider that this was all in the past and go on with her marriage. Is her nikah valid now as she had told people but not been flogged. Please note that her intention for tellingpeople was not confessing but put of ignorance she was boasting thinking it was a great accomishment. Also later after regretting her action she has told of some people but with regards to wanting advice on how to make tawbah. Is this considered a confession in the sense of flogging.

Tell your friend to leave it in the past and ask Allah for forgiveness.

Let her past as the past. What she should do to redeem her mistake in the past before she repent is not get punished, but increasing her ibadah and doing her best effort to become a better Muslimah.

In Shaa Allah, she will get easiness.

Asalaamu Alaikum I had another question. I read the ayat regarding how a fornicator cannot marry a chaste person unless they repent. Is this also referring to masturbation. If a woman masturbates whilst picturing or imagining her fiance (prior to marriage), and they then get married without her repentance, is this a valid nikah. She regrets it now.

Wa'alaikumsalam

Surah An-Nur:26 isn't that?

"Vile women are for vile men, and vile men are for vile women (as well), and chaste women are for chaste men, and chaste men are for chaste women (too). They (the accused) was clean from what is alleged by those (who accuse it). For them is forgiveness and a sustenance noble (heaven)"

This ayaah is related to accusation toward Aisha (ra) and Shafwan bin al-Mu’attal (ra), who were accused commit adultery by some people. Chaste women are for chaste men is refer to Aisha (ra) who married Rasulullah (saw), the chaste man. You can seek information about this story from some source.

Now about your question. Can fornicator marry chaste person?. If this fornicator decide to stop commit fornication, this person turn into chaste person again, and of course, can marry chaste person.

How about masturbation?. Masturbation is not adultery, although some Ulama call it as "hand zina". Masturbation is haram thing, but not clasified as adultery because adultery commited by two or more persons, not alone.
